Maddy, one of the greatest moments of my life was meeting Luciano Pavarotti in 1997. I greeted him, and he smiled and shook my hand. I felt as if I had touched the hand of an angel. He is the greatest opera singer ever. It is really not a close call. As you experienced by the shivers, tears, and joy in a 3-minute song, Pavarotti was able to convey tremendous emotion - much more than just words. RIP maestro, we miss you...

Have you heard every great opera singer? because if you haven't your opinion holds no weight at all does it, if you said he is the greatest you have heard then that has some validity. Most experts would disagree that he is the greatest, very good but not the greatest, not even close really.

@@MaddyReactions I subscribed to you after I watched your emotional reaction, about five times, to see if it was real, and you passed the test, if this rendition of a great Opera solo does not move someone to tears, and in your case and mine, the chin quiver.Your reaction was pure and simple honesty, which I admire and have no answer for 🥰, maybe decent morality , this is the perfect remedy for people that need a good cry, and to let emotion take its course.I am not sure of the TV coverage in the US, but in the late 90's the BBC did an all points documentary with Luciano, and it turned out he was an awesome , beautiful person. I was there for this concert, 1994, the night before the World Cup Soccer finals. This was in Dodger Stadium, about 70.000 or more people. The entire grassy area in the stadium was covered with chairs. All of the superstars and politicians etc of the Era was on the front rows. Sinatra was front and center... The set was built against the center field wall by Hollywood set designers. over a million dollars. the song was short because it is just one song of many in an opera that had many songs. turanadot. I saw Luciano many times. With symphony orchestra and just a piano. I am 78. For most of my life I lived in an era of romance...just listen to the songs from 50's 60's 70's and part of the 80's. the era of Cheek to cheek dancing to beautiful ballads with words of romance.... and in that era you could understand the words....the golden age of music in america...is gone

I think its likely that you will love this song forever, and it will make you cry every time you hear it sung by Pavarotti. That real high note at the end was a B4 in the tenor range. I don't generally even like opera (especially the female opera singers), but I have to say that his tone of voice, intonation & phrasing was out of this world! He doesn't have that overly exaggerated tone & vibrato that I usually hear from others singing in that Opera style, which is a different art form compared to Pop/ Rock since they use their voices differently. But again, I have to say that Pavarotti was AMAZING!

His final delivery there at the end is just a fascinating study of being in character, and then ending triumphantly, and then staying there for a bit, and then slowly the character slips away and we see basically an athlete after an astounding performance, and finally we see him as just the opera singer and the man himself, in front of all these emotional people, and it's just so moving.

It's so short, because it is just one small part (an aria) of the opera Turandot by
Giancomo Pucini. It is the song of Prince Calaf, who has fallen in love with Princess Turandot, who has refused many suitors and requires that each suitor answer 3 riddles with a wrong answer resulting in their death. Calaf passed the test, but Turandot refuses to marry him anyway, so he offers her an alternative...guess his name and he will accept death.
The song (from the final act) is him singing his bold confidence of winning Turandot's hand.

    ...and the Crowd. Goes. Wild.
Justifiably. One of the greatest tenors of all time.

I'm Brazilian and I had the honor of seeing him live in 2000 here. Unforgettable. When he died in 2007 I cried a lot and I still get emotional listening to him sing. "VESTI LA GIUBBA", from de opera Il Pagliacci (The Clown). It's emotionally very intense. t's the part where the clown finds out that his wife is cheating on him. I love it.

tenor all-timebar none. When he was younger (40s to 50s) his voice was even stronger. He was in his 60's for this performance. He is pure emotion when singing. Godly gift.
