This played at my grandfathers funeral. Yes this is a song in BioShock but this is also an old Christian song. One of my grandfathers favorites to be in fact. I miss him and I wish I could hug him right now but I know he's not suffering anymore... My grandfather died from smoking and he had a heart attack April 8th. I still know he's with me, and sometimes I can feel a calming presence behind me, watching over me. I believe that this is my grandfather. He's my guardian angel now. I love you grandpa❤
I know the feeling, i dont really believe in Christianity, but my great aunt and uncle liked songs like this i think, he passed earlier this year in march. I was devastated when i was told he died, his wife died about 5 years ago of a heart attack from smokeing for years and he went in the same way, but in his sleep, he always had heart problems but...im happy he didnt suffer when he went...he had said was ok with dying, so he went with out regret, besides he's with his wife now. And Im sorry your grandpa died, but as you had put he's not suffering anymore. *had to stop typeing cause i had started crying*
I know the feeling too. When my mom passed away due to a gran mal when I was thirteen (I'm sadly aware of the irony due to 13 being a bad luck number), I felt lost without her (both in religion and in real life). It made me feel confused about why, after her death, something that could help her was illegal back then (I'm still upset that they're still debating over it). It also upsets me that there are kids disrespecting their mothers and vice versa. The worst part was that I wasn't there when it happened, so the guilt still eats me up. There's also more guilt that's eating me up: most of my family are religious (mostly Christian) and it feels like I'm living a lie because I'm still debating on whether I should tell them I converted to agnosticism or not. I know that it doesn't sound like a big deal, but it does to me; it kind of makes me feel like the black sheep of the family. If anyone can see this, I was wondering if anyone of you have any advice? Also, if you're with your loved one(s), please let them know how much you love and respect them.
I came here to listen to this song again after remembering my grandpa, and I thought of taking a peek at the comments to finally find the most relatable one of them all. I miss him so much & his death still traumatizes me after all these years. I just wish he has a better home now.
It's interesting how well this hymn fits the bioshock infinite story line. "a better home awaiting in the sky" Colombia is a city in the sky. "will the circle be unbroken" the circle of Comstock and Booker with Elizabeth, I don't think I really should explain more on that for spoiler reasons. And many other lyrics fit many themes of the story.
Kaidron6 The circle that is referred to in the song isn't about that, but rather how we give our hatred and violence to our children. It's touched upon in Burial at Sea.
Oh my God! This song pretty much foreshadows the entire game, and I didn't even notice until now! "Will the circle be unbroken", Booker tried to save his daughter countless times in so many universes, and it was the Booker we played in the game that broke the cycle!
Most songs in the game were chosen for their foreshadowing lyrics. Consider the song they're singing at the lottery: Sometimes I live in the country Sometimes I live in the town Sometimes I have a great notion To jump In the river and drown
Man I live in a really rural place and there's a local bar where I can go and watch a 70 year old dude called joe lead an entire room singing this song. Say what you want about the south, but we undoubtedly do have our good points.
It makes so much sense; as long as the tears are all the same, Booker will always sell Anna and then end up going to Columbia which triggers the events of the game. As long as this goes on, it becomes an infinite loop. The meaning of the song is Elizabeth wondering if this circle will ever end and her and Booker can be a real family.
There are loved ones in the glory, Whose dear forms you often miss; When you close your earthly story, Will you join them in their bliss? Chorus: Will the circle be unbroken By and by, Lord, by and by. There's a better home awaiting In the sky, Lord, in the sky. In the joyous days of childhood, Oft they told of wondrous love, Pointed to the dying Saviour; Now they dwell with Him above. (Chorus) You remember songs of heaven Which you sang with childish voice, Do you love the hymns they taught you, Or are songs of earth your choice? (Chorus) You can picture happy gath'rings 'Round the fireside long ago, And you think of tearful partings, When they left you here below. (Chorus) One by one their seats were emptied, One by one they went away; Now the family is parted, Will it be complete one day? (Chorus)
Damn i fell in love :). Elizabeth is a real one-in-a-million type of character. The level of emotional engagement the game provokes from the player is truly exceptional. Her angelic singing of a hymn in the middle of the slums was an display of unadulterated humane compassion and it made me shed s tear. You have recreated that moment flawlessly in my mind and that, I believe is truly impressive.
Damn I love bioshock infinite. I love the artwork, the scenery, the atmosphere, and the story. I felt as if I was actually in the world of bioshock. Lovely game, lovely song! Damn, the ending was bittersweet, especially the ending of Burial at Sea-got me in tears
+Jerrod Jester I wouldn't object to that. the Bioshock trilogy had a great story, but the gameplay was really..bad. That's one fault that I give the game.
This is such a beautiful song. I'm not normally one to cry, but listening to this song just brings out the tears. Especially while reading the comments people leave about loved ones that they've lost.
I cried at this; it reminds me of my beloved mum who died 7 years ago and who I miss more today than the day she died. Your voice is just.....sublime. I know cried but thank you for such a truly beautiful song. :')
I heard this song long before I played the game, so when I heard the song, I instantly ran to my computer and looked it up. And its still just as beautaful as ever.
This song reminds me of when I was a kid living out in the Sticks. Our few times we got to meet up with people was when we’d head into town for church and I’d get to play with the other kids. So many happy memories in that little church.
OMFG! thank you so much for taking up my suggestion (and maybe other peoples too) im crying right now i love this song and i love you and i love this vido game! thank you so much adrisaurus!
A close friend of mine and my family's died of a heart attack a few weeks ago... He was only in his 40's and was in pristine health, so his death was sudden and a shock for everyone who knew him. He and my mom grew up together.
This song reminds me so much of my dad that passed away a little over a year ago. Since his birthday is coming up and fathers day recently passed I come to this song to help me feel better. It is truly beautiful :)
a very close friend of mine which i havent had a talk with in a few years was separated from her mother by fate, im just glad that after all these years she and i were still as close as i remmember, no words, just a stare and we were updated and as close as ever, we hugged and cried and spend time together, its very sad that it had to be in these times of pain that friends and family that have drifted come close, but it just is how things are. i listened to this song and just started crying again, i dont have any close experience with death but having family die must be one of the most painfull things in this world. very very beautiful voice Adriana, keep up the good work you do, your future is very bright girl i can already see it.
On the Morning of August 11th 2014, One of the Greatest Men in the world took his own life. A Great comedian named Robin Williams. And For whatever reason upon hearing of his death, it drug me to listen to this song. RIP Robin WIlliams.
Mitchell Rice to this day, it fucks me up inside that such a good man had to die like that. to this day, it hurts. but i will say this: whatever waits for us all after death - Paradise, Oblivion, Rebirth - it's not so scary, knowing that someone as great and kind and funny and wonderful as Robin, is there waiting for us.
I never thought especially of him. To me he was that funny guy from jumangi, and the counselor from that Matt Damon movie. I heard he died and couldn't believe it. It was a tragedy, but I felt disconnected from it. Just another sad thing in the news. But about a week later, I had a dream. It was dark, and a bit smoky. But it was comforting. And he was just standing in front of me, with tears in his eyes, smiling the way he did. I was confused at first. Then he hugged me, tightly and it was so strange. I felt at total peace. I think it changed me. don't know why Im telling this on a RUclips comment section, but it was beyond beautiful. I still don't know what to make of it.
remember hearing this as a little girl, our elementary school teacher had us sing this after we did the flag salute before class began, -sigh- I wonder how shes doing these days :(
Oh my gosh!!!! I’ve been following you for about a year now and never realized you covered this??? Um??? I love this game (and this channel) with every part of my shriveled, black heart, and it makes me so happy to find this!! Thank you!! Amazing work, as always!!
This is a beautiful song, I'm glad I heard this. I listen to this now in memoriam to my mother, or rather, her old self. The person I knew as my mother is gone, forever. Addiction is horrible, but I imagine the version I knew is at peace. I hope so anyway.
Oh my god. You made a Bioshock Infinite cover!!! You are officially the best singer ever. I loved this game so much. It was beautiful, just like your voice.
This girl couldn't get anymore cooler I thought, then she goes and sings this. There's not much else I can say other than you are amazing. Keep up the good work.
...Shoot. I was thinking about covering this, but you picked out almost the same harmonies. Now that I've heard this, I can't even claim plausible deniability! XD Adri, this is BEAUTIFUL. This song suits your sweet voice perfectly. Just divine, m'dear!
Ahh, so lovely! I love the sound of your voice in this song. It's very mature and beautiful. Your songs are always beautiful, but this one I think is especially lovely.

This was played and my grandpas funeral as well! Although I was too young to remember it
I know the feeling too. I know how you feel though I didn't know this song when my dad passed away 6years ago it still makes me cry. *hugs you*

The cycle wasn't broken per se....
TJ Fiso It was after jack came in to it all
This song wasnt made for the game lel... I mean its a good choice to foreshadow...but they didnt make this
No, the circle doesn't broke. It's infinite
Most songs in the game were chosen for their foreshadowing lyrics. Consider the song they're singing at the lottery:

Dr_ Sm4Rt bro there's nothing to say about we're normal people just like everyone else just a different accent
We're I'm from, everyone judges by just one look of you. I wish I had a place to go with less negativity) :
You do..

+Trash King "it becomes an infinite loop." -Roll Credits, oh wait___"
I don't even play the game but i can relate this to other things and I cry
its a hymm from 1907, bioshock infinite was the first to do a good recording of the song en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_the_Circle_Be_Unbroken%3F
Linkfreak117 Listen to John Lee Hooker sang it....
Gracie Watkins thank you...same tune different words...how many times do people have to say that
My great grandma used to sing this and I can't listen to it without getting misty eyed.
There are loved ones in the glory,
Whose dear forms you often miss;
When you close your earthly story,
Will you join them in their bliss?
Chorus:
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, Lord, by and by.
There's a better home awaiting

Or are songs of earth your choice?

And you think of tearful partings,
When they left you here below.

Can you do "Deliver us" ? From the prince of Egypt
Damn I love bioshock infinite. I love the artwork, the scenery, the atmosphere, and the story. I felt as if I was actually in the world of bioshock. Lovely game, lovely song! Damn, the ending was bittersweet, especially the ending of Burial at Sea-got me in tears
+Patrick Huynh Bioshock Infinite is an almost perfect game.
Amazing characters
Amazing setting
Amazing visuals
A lot is there to love about it.
+ScootsNB Some of the gameplay and map layout leaves a lot to be desired though....
They say Dishonored has the gameplay Bioshock lacks, while Bioshock has an actual story in comparasion to Dishonored.
+Jerrod Jester I wouldn't object to that. the Bioshock trilogy had a great story, but the gameplay was really..bad.
That's one fault that I give the game.
ScootsNB Oh well, I never finished it because of that. :/ Kinda pity, but I really got bored of it. I guess I have my demands for games too high.
RIP Songbird. Forever in our hearts.
This is such a beautiful song. I'm not normally one to cry, but listening to this song just brings out the tears. Especially while reading the comments people leave about loved ones that they've lost.
I love this game. I love this song. I love her voice.
+The Almighty Loaf Bloke Hello fellow loaf
I cried at this; it reminds me of my beloved mum who died 7 years ago and who I miss more today than the day she died. Your voice is just.....sublime. I know cried but thank you for such a truly beautiful song. :')
Be strong (•~,•)/
Armando Narváez : Thank you, I am as it's what my mum would want. :')
THE FEELS!!!!!
DEM FEELZ. THEY HURT.
AUGH! NOT MEH FEELZ
THE FEELS MAKE ME FEELS...
OH GAW DA FEELS ARE TOO MUCH
I heard this song long before I played the game, so when I heard the song, I instantly ran to my computer and looked it up. And its still just as beautaful as ever.

It sounds like Elizabeth is singing it, so beautiful.
You have such a uniquely pleasant voice. It's so pure, untarnished -- much unlike the majority of today's artists. Super epic.
That's my thoughts exactly. It's literally sounds like the voice of an angel. I could fall asleep to this.
i totally agree :)
Reminds me a lot of Amazing Grace.
Same
yup especially from 1:21 to 1:33
Makes sense, in fact a lot of hymns can be played with only the black keys on the piano, so both songs consist of the same 5 notes.
PS same it reminds me of amazing grace too
Yeah
I will always love this game
That picture looks like what Elizabeth's Station Of Awakening would look like in Kingdom Hearts...
No lie though.
I love your covers almost as much as I love Bioshock Infinite... and that's a lot.
Horrry shit, such an angelic voice almost makes me wana go to church...almost.
Ray Mad yet church can't get you in the heaven named columbia, only perhaps the heaven God made
my grandmother loved this song :,) i miss her
OMFG! thank you so much for taking up my suggestion (and maybe other peoples too) im crying right now i love this song and i love you and i love this vido game! thank you so much adrisaurus!
I looked for this right after the stream. I am glad I found it.
Wonderful. Thanks... this game always makes me cry and your voice is just perfection
I'm so in love with Bioshock and this song
Rest in peace, Paulie. We love you. God love and bless you. You will be terribly missed. :( The good ones always die too young.
...WHAT?!
A close friend of mine and my family's died of a heart attack a few weeks ago... He was only in his 40's and was in pristine health, so his death was sudden and a shock for everyone who knew him. He and my mom grew up together.
have peace in knowing she's in a better place, one free of war, disease, and raging youtube commenters. may she find peace in heaven =')
He. And thank you. :)
MusicMakesMeSoar91 he* my bad
I FANGIRLED SO HARD AT THIS. I've been singing it for days, and now a cover? So happy c':
Your voice is wonderfully peaceful. So tranquil, could listen for hours.
