I love the Professor Layton universe SO much, you guys. I'm happy to finally be uploading another song from the series! This is the ending theme to the last installment of the series -- Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy.
These English lyrics are loosely based upon the meaning of the original Japanese version of the song, but I took some free reign with them, so it's not quite a direct translation.

I feel like this really fits Layton and all he's been through in his life. Talking about the falling snow reminds me of the last scene with Claire in Unwound Future, talking about meeting friends again even though they're gone makes me think of Luke and how they promised to remain close even though they're so far apart, and stuff like that. The one that really got me was "Leave behind the pain you've known and open up you're heart so you can live and learn." That's really Layton there, I think. Like he's gone through so, so much in his life, but he remains positive and works through his pain so that he can continue experiencing life and learn new things and be happy.

That is a really good analysis and I agree. This song does seem to summarize Laytons life perfectly.
In a strange way, this almost feels like a metaphor for the Professor Layton series in general. Even though the series is over for now, it left us with memories that will never die, and we all know that it will return again someday

He's back, Surely someday, That someday is today.
Some people say this is aurora talking to Luke, or emmy talking to Layton, but it's not. It's Layton talking to his brother. He knows he left with nowhere to go, having fulfilled his life goal. He knows his brother gave up everything to make sure Theodore was safe, even if it meant living as a different person, a small child alone with no one to love him. Layton/Theodore promises to make up for his brother's wasted life, he'll repay the love he gave. And surely someday, he'll find a way to him.

I've cried at plenty of videogames, but I think Azran Legacies and Unwound Future have been the only games where I've bawled my eyes out. It's just something about these characters and their emotions.

Regardless of how many times I listen to this, it never loses its soothing feeling. It's such a great song to listen to when you can't sleep or you just have a crummy day. I couldn't mix this without tearing up.

So long Professor Layton. It's been an amazing journey through all of your games and meeting new memorable characters along the way and solving puzzles that would take me hours to figure out. But all good things must come to an end. I'm sure Lady Layton will be an excellent follow up to the series but me and everyone else will never forget you. Hopefully we'll meet you again someday in the future but farewell for now.
I really like how this song could be sung by or for so many of the Professor Layton characters, and it would still fit.
It could be Aurora singing it for Luke, or Emmy for Layton, or even Layton for Descole. It's also the series saying farewell to the player. It has so much meaning!

This song is so beautiful that it made me cry in the end.
I just finished this game, and I loved the actual gameplay, but I felt the ending was really weak. Especially how they handled Descole and Emmy's departures from the series. I was so excited to see the goofy, heartrending reasons they'd come up with for their leaving and it just... wasn't there!
Oh well.
...Maybe we'll get a Luke Trilogy? :D?

I just wanted to say, I adore this cover. Your performance was amazing, and Professor Layton is amongst my favourite pieces of media.

Hey Adrisarus! I just wanted to say I love this translation so much, and I'm a camp counselor at a Girl Scout summer camp and when I run out of slow camp songs to sing at night when I have girls having trouble falling asleep I sing them this song and they love it a lot. Keep it up with your songs I love them lots :D

Professor Layton has played a huge part in my life. I absolutely loved the series growing up, and still love them to this day. It takes me back to my childhood of playing the games on my old DS late at night pretending to be asleep.
My very first Layton game was actually Curious Village. Then I started buying the other games and playing some of the ones my sister had until I played them all. And honestly, Professor Layton is just amazing. So amazing, words can't even describe. As well as being a mystery-detective sort of series, what stuck out to me was the stories and endings, on top of the characters.
Spoiler alert for the endings of the games!
Like in Curious Village. Where Flora left her home. Then in Lost Future, Layton loses Claire again. And Luke leaves Layton too. That ending where Layton started crying, as well as Luke saying to Professor "I'm sorry...but I'm not ready to be a gentleman yet!" then breaking down into tears...man. Professor was like a father to Luke. So seeing them part was sad, but they were together for the future games.

I have never played a Prof. Layton game, but several things I've heard about it make me want to, especially "The Unwound Future" and its love story between Layton and Claire...broke my heart.

I remember listening to your covers ever since the Turnabout Sisters Ballad one, about a decade ago.
Back then, I barely knew about Professor Layton (I had listened to "Iris", but haven't looked any further).
Then a few years later you uploaded this one and it had encouraged me to check out the games. I have easily fallen in love with this series ever since and I wanted to let you know, in someway, that I'm grateful.
I re-listen to your cover of "Surely Someday" every now and then for the past 8 years. It makes me feel very nostalgic and I tend to sing along. The translation, vocals and whole arrangement are so well done and fantastic!

I don't like the universe as much as you do (even though I like it too) but this song is so sad, considering that it seems to be about the end of the series. I love the Ace Attorney series and this song made me cry because I fear that this song describes what I will feel then. You already know this feelings-you express them so good.

This is perfect timing, since I just finished the game a few nights ago, and so all of the lyrics here like "I shall repay the love you gave" and "we'll be together again" and all that just KILLED me because I KNOW WHO IT'S REFERRING TO and just *sobs for all eternity*

In short, this is my favorite cover you've done yet. Both your voice and the lyrics, which fit the game (and kinda the whole series) perfectly, are beautiful. Seriously, if I could somehow insert this into the game in place of the instrumental version I would.

You can really tell that the Azran legacy is arguably the best and most emotional episode of the entire series, as everyone appears to go their seperate ways. It’s nice to listen to this song and really relate to the lyrics, and also after you’ve played the game the fact that everything means more than you originally thought is just heartbreaking. But I love it.
I'd somehow forgotten about this song... This particular cover helped me get through a lot of things. A lot of loss... Adrisaurus has a beautiful voice. The words are lovely. The picture is simple but stunning. I feel nostalgic just listening to this. I've changed a lot these past few years and things around me have changed but I'm reminded that I'm still me ♥

I adore this version of the song moreso than any of them, and I love this song the most out of any of the Layton songs. It is such a wonderful blend of sadness to move on while being excited for new journeys. I’ve listened to this quite a bit for the last few years, however due to its melancholic nature it isn’t a sure fire on loop song. Today I’m moving out of my college apartment after graduating, and this is the perfect song to listen and commemorate the occasion with. Surely someday, I will hang out with all of these friends again. Thank you for the song. Your voice helps make it as powerful as it is.

This song makes me think of my old friends and I, we used to hang out a lot. I recently moved to a colder place than my hometown and I have a feeling I'll be sending the lyrics to them through text.
