No such thing as a dumb question! The texture of canned potatoes are a little different than fresh one, I personally don't like the texture of the mashed potatoes if made with canned potatoes I've tried it a time or 2. We usually just eat them whole or I add them to soups. I save my fresh potatoes to make mashed potatoes. I am so glad to hear your husband is on the mend! Best of luck in the woods, get it girl!

My wife will not touch game of any kind, fresh fish, or even fresh chicken, beef, or pork. I grew up on all of it and still love it. Talk about opposites attracting!lol Of course, I did make a stew that she thought was beef once years ago. Probably because I unwrapped beef stew meat and repackaged it. What is sweet milk? I'm assuming it is a whole milk since it isn't buttermilk. Supper looks great! I don't really like going out to eat anymore. I know I have to do the dishes after, but what I fix at home is so much better tasting than what I can get at some restaurant.

It kind of is but it is closer to fat back because it is just salt cured which is a little different then we do the bacon. Its honestly right up there with bacon as far as one of my favorite things just a little different flavor and texture

Dinner looks delicious. Your canned potatoes are beautiful. I do, however; have one question. What is hog jowl?

How do you freeze corn on the cob? I notice you wrap each cob with Saran Wrap. Do you blanch your corn first?

If you don't already, preserve your butter. Always have it on hand. Our 1839 Almanac says "melt over the fire and scum well. Pour in to jar (stone) and cover loosely." If that doesn't make sense, learn to make ghee. Lasts forever.
