- Wendy's song for their "Where's the Beef?" commercials from 1984-1985. This was released on vinyl back in 1984 and is a very rare song to come by. It was released with an instrumental version of this song also. It was never released on CD and when it was released on vinyl it was only released through a limited quantity. "Where's the beef, damn it?! I want my big fluffy buns and beef!!"
Lyrics from the back cover of the vinyl:
Old lady walking in the midday sun
She stops for lunch at the House of Buns
She orders a hamburger (Well of course)
They brought her some buns that would choke a small horse
(big buns, big buns)
Thought she was gettin' a heck of a deal
A buck ninety-nine for a whole darn meal
(doo de doo, doo de doo)
But when she opened the buns to put on the mustard
(doo de doo, doo de doo)
Hey eyes squinted up and she got all flustered
(doo de doo, doo de doo)
She said I've had burgers well-done and rare
But now I got one that ain't even there
She got no response from ringin' the bell
And that's when she started to yell!
[CHORUS]
WHERE'S THE BEEF?
(Young man, can't you hear her call
She don't see no beef at all)
WHERE'S THE BEEF?
(Call a cop and catch the thief
the one who stole this lady's beef)
WHERE'S THE BEEF?
(Eeny meeny miney mo
tell us where did our beef go?)
WHERE'S THE BEEF?
(Won't somebody end her grief
And tell her where's the beef?)
Can anybody hear me?
I don't think there's anybody back there!
HEY, WHERE'S THE BEEF?
Its the biggest ripoff you ever saw
(Where did it go) [2x]
I swear there ought to be a law
(ought to be a law) [2x]
A woman can't live by buns alone
She's caught in a hamburger twilight zone!
Where's the beef, she asked the boss
(where's the beef, where's the beef)
He said "Check under that special sauce."
This whole thing's too weird for me
Where, oh where, can her beef be?
What's the secret, tell me how
3 billion sold from just one cow...
[Repeat chorus]
Where's the Beef?
Where's the Beef?
[Repeat chorus out]
In Nashville, this song got MAJOR airplay back in the day. When this was recorded, I think he was still working for Kicks 104 when he recorded this. He hadn't moved to Y107 yet.
RIP Coyote McCloud. You'll always be a legend here in Nash-Vegas.
He was still at Kicks 104 then.
I was still pretty young.
He didn t hit Y 107 til 86/87, I think. He d been off the air for a while, at least in the mid TN. listening area, at that point, so It was a big deal when he came back on Y 107 and got The Zoo Crew up and running.
This song is a guilty pleasure to me.
I was a co-writer with Coyote on this song. We did have permission from Wendy's, just can't figure out why it wasn't a hit? :)
Thank you for your epic contribution to humanity.
Maybe because it's so horrible that it's actually horrible 😜
Not enough cheese
I love this song. I love the "3 billion sold and just one cow?!" line.
Coyote was my favorite local Dj back in the 80s
Mr. Jon Scott, it was a hit. Your co-writing skills are right up there with Captain Kangaroo. On behalf of humanity, thank you for your musical gifts. It's never about money. It's what you can give. Sir.
*THIS HAPPENED, AND WE ALL LET IT HAPPEN*
Mac Benitez it's too beautiful to be made by human hands.
Were the beef?
RIP Coyote & Clara. Now tell me WHERE'S THE BEEF?
Why is this not more well-known? The lyrics are outstanding!
Why does this song get better the more you hear it I could have sworn it was a joke the first few times I heard it.
Coyote was a genius when it came to stuff like this. he was an amazing on air personality at Y107 in nashville. He took that station places it would have never been able to reach without him and rhett. RIP Coyoye. Mr Scott i agree with greg edler it was a hit,,,then and now. great job on this song.
Cinemassacre bought me here.
Kenkoyful, 🤘
🤘
I remember OF this song back in the day but never heard it until now (literally right now). Whenever Clara says her trademarked line, she sounds like Divine.
I don't know why but I love the Eeny Meen Miney Mo part.
Oh, and
All your beef are belong to us.
magic time, sure miss Coyote McCloud.
Homer Simpson tear down that wall that is where they are hiding the beef
I actually have this on 45. It was a promo or something.
Clara was such a lovely, funny person. Now Wendy's has a new mascot saying squares the beef.
So 80's
Why doesn't this show up on a searcg for "where's the beef"????
Wheres the stuff form the movie stuff the

thegamemaster5500 the is a parody of the slogan in B horror movie the stuff
I'm pretty sure wendys did where's the beef in 1984 and the stuff came out in 1985

By all accounts this should not be good, but for some reason it is
Nobody wants a vegetarian buger? 😂 Hahaha!
did they ever find out where it was? i bet it was under the refrigerator.
The Foxy Dance Hut : No, not the refrigerator, but I remember they did find it ... "Under the pickle."
Well I'll be on discogs. If you need me. Also gonna find the McDonald's song. Big Mac, mcdlt, oh wow I just heard it all
Back when everyone was doing "rap" music... "The Curly Shuffle", Joe Piscopo "The Honeymooners", "Superbowl Shuffle"... and the ABSOLUTE WORST... "MC Rove" (paid for by tax payers?).
Don't forget "The Mayberry Rap".
And rappin' Rodney.
@@michaelmcfarland1716 Oh god. The flashbacks. AGH... and the Joan Rivers one!
Oh, Yeah, well you have Justin Bieber now so I suppose your generation should be grateful!
I aint no Canadian and he is part of the next gen. XP
Anthony Asencio the same generation that uses emoticons like XP?
yeahj
Didn't Coyote get in trouble with the Wendy's people for not getting permission? If I remember right, he got booted from KX 104. Still was a cool song though. RIP Coyote McCloud.
I thought Roger McDowell was behind this song? He wrote a song about the gremlins too. Anyone with knowledge on that? He had a stage name at the time, but was on Nashville Now with Tommy Overstreet once.
I know Clara Peller got in trouble for Prego commercial when this Prego commercial. Wendy's fired her. I wonder if they wouldn't have been so upset had it not been a real commercial and Justin SNL skit. ruclips.net/video/3kZejc2-h_s/видео.html
WAIYRS THUBEEF?
The first time you hear 82-year-old Clara Peller-this song's a riot.
Ever hear of a little song called, "Disco Duck"?
Another fun song. Done by famous radio personality, Rick Dees and His Cast of Idiots.
On Clara’s wikipedia page, there is a “publicity shot” of her, and she is wearing what appears to be that which made her an icon of our time. In it, she looks utterly delightful wearing a string of pearls and a very elaborate lace collar.
Now, I know that Wendy’s Little Redhead girl is the beloved trademark of the company, however, If I worked for their top brass, I would do all I could to get that “publicity photo” of Clara somehow overlaid on top of their traditional logo. Allow R&D to call it an “experimental nostalgic marketing campaign” if they must, in a test market area, and run limited promotional item of some during the months of November & December. Just let me have my crazy idea.
Went to Walmart for beef roll for a family B.B.Q. While it was cookin it disappeared from the pan. Everyone started asking . WHERE'S THE BEEF ?
this.song.is.awesome! ...how is it that I've never heard it before??!
Heard this song 2 days ago
THANK U FOR POSTING I GAVE IT THE FULL 6 STARS!!!
I AM STILL LAFFIN!!!!
This is literally Rappin Rodney.
Both Coyote and Clara are dead... 😢
My mom use to have a green shirt that said: Where's the beef? (front of shirt) Damn the beef, where's the bread? (back of shirt)😆 She would where it on family summer vacations mostly and she got a lot of attention and people loved it!! This was late 80s early 90s❤
