Waiting for some ignorant comment about the game (that is actually very good) from someone that didn't play any DW game, something like "duhh it's just hack and slash" or "the enemies don't attack you" :P
Bobobranden This is a DW8 version with more stuff in it yes, there isn't a hub world per say, but there are story modes (dedicated to the various families, so you experience the same story from different view points) that have connected stages of the game in a chronological order that you play (+ there are "what if..." stages if you complete special tasks in the normal stages), so in a way it is a hub world I guess. Warriors Orochi has an original story while DW8 sticks to the "3 kingdoms" era, both have a lot of characters but Wo3 has more but a lot of that cast is taken up by the Samurai Warriors cast and WO2 cast, who still play like their original pre-DW6 selves so they may seem outdated in comparison to other characters of the game. DW8 also has no recycled stages, and they're much bigger and have more variety (you have "historical" objectives during the missions, it's not just "kill everyone and you win"; there are ambushes and reinforcements and all that kind of stuff). The story modes are good in both games but DW also had Ambition mode, that allows you to create your own path using a character of you choice, that helps the longevity of the game a lot. So, to conclude the reply; both are fun and good games so you should have a safe buy as long as you know what you are buying; WO3 is the best in the WO series and DW8 is the best in the DW series, but I personally like DW8 more ;)
ah, i remembered that i was playing DW6 all the time while i was in middle school. really had a lot of fun :) just bought DW8 and getting ready for my new adventure :3

The first ever Dynasty Warriors game I ever played was Dynasty Warrior's: Orochi on the PS2 then Dynasty Warrior's 5: Empires. Since then I haven't played any others, but today I'm getting a PS4 and would like to try this out. Is it good?
Finally Yu Jin is a main character, if im not mistaken, he was one of Cao Cao's most trusted bodyguard alongside with Dian Wei and another dude that i forgot his name. This DW looks fkn great.

That makes every historian who believed females never fought "gay". They can include them in the storyline with the sexiest outfits if they wish, but as "fighters" this kinda sucks a lot of the realism as well as the historical integrity out of a historical game. Hey guys. So I finished the Lu Bu story mode on this game, but when I wanted to start a new story mode with a different Kingdom it didn't work. You can't press the 'New Game' thing. What do i do? I appreciate the help!
They already announced this version for pc...in japan. We'll see if it comes here, otherwise we'll just have to wait for an english patch like for 7 ;)

TrainLe Choo Thats a good question, the only iteration they are working on at the moment is DW8 empires which will only release in japan this year. AND as of typing this DW9 was announced (22 hours ago from typing this message) I'd recommend getting DW8 for pc because its probably cheaper and it'll be the ultimate edition. ENJOY ^_^
they need to start to make enemies more challenge in DW9, i mean, they should be a royal guard soldier which is more difficult that will require strategies to defeat, this game doing pretty good in term of creative the character attack sets, but it wasn't seem different when enemies are fight same tactics and AI are cheap and predictable, Koei doing pretty good on Nioh, i think they should add something like that to DW series.
I never understood whats the difference between the 2 expantions isnt ambition mode pretty much empire mode only comes out 1 year before empire does :\?
I wish in Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires (If There Is) they make it so that you can change the color of your own troops (grunts) and the colony color also, just to make you feel more as a ruler and a more custom right?
Character specific cutscenes for different situations (and not like the cutscenes you could change in DW6) such as when you take over a province, depending on who ruled that province, you get different cutscenes.
With Addition of the Jin Dynasty, I won't be surprised if Koei make things even crazier with addition of Shui Dynasty on Dynasty Warriors 9 and make it even crazier by adding Tang Dynasty in Dynasty Warriors 10. Maybe you have Shu+Wei+ Wu+ Jin and Shui vs Tang Dynasty
Think i'll get the one that's already out, my fav in the series is Empires as you can make your character and play the game anyway you want. In the last one you could start your own empire, it was bloody hard but you could. Personally I love the series but only for portable, if I get to use a giant sword to pogo around the map like I could in empires, I'm happy.

Yu Jin. I remember when some of these characters were your standard cookie cutter officers back when I played earlier DW games like DW3 and so forth. I was hoping they would make Liao Hua a playable character in Shu. I could be wrong, but he was one of the few older generation generals that I believe remained alive even after Guan Yu, Ma Chao, Zhuge Liang and the others died....you see him with new gen shu officers.
There's a saying, "There's no great generals is Shu, but/therefore Liao Hua always in the front line". I was surprised he wasn't a playable character too.

Each time there's new warrior game, I always expect it'd better than basara series. Everything in this game is like this was made for ps2. Basara is so much better
dynasty warriors.. its always missing something in game. i want a more engaging story line with decisions that affect the outcome of your characters story. If i get ambushed, i want to see enemies climb out from holes in the ground or jump down from trees instead of just appearing out of thin air. I want intelligent battle tactics and soldier formations that could turn the tide of battle. I want to face hard decisions outside the battle eg. Defend an important ally's stronghold or rescue my family from lubu's army. I want to cavalry charge with my units like rohan did in lotr.. i dunno, maybe more attention to the actual battle experience instead of just new characters, modes, skins and moves. wishful thinking i guess.
