I agree, learning to love yourself in your natural state will always be worth it. Even if you do decide to change it up later for convenience or what have you, you can at least be honest with yourself with yourself with the reason, rather than claiming it’s some mystical self-created preference. The problems come when we lie to ourselves about our intentions.

I really like the revair. Just using the tension method alone does not work for me, and running a paddle brush or comb attachment through my coils does a lot of damage given my texture/curl pattern, and can be painful. The revair is gentle on my hair and scalp and gives me a smooth blowout that I can achieve myself without struggling. (Yes it is a little bulky though.)

Totally agree. Since I started using Revair, I'm retaining so much length. And my hair prefers to be kept in a stretched state and not curly....curly hair equals tangles for my hair.

Since I was a child I've always craved having long hair that can been seen to all. And I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
Hair throughout human history in almost all cultures has a significance. It's a sign of youth, fertility, and status which is very universal. And Africans are no different and have also used tools and recipes to help elongate and manipulate their hair. Such as the women of Chad that use Chebe. Or the tribe that use red clay on themselves and hair. I saw an african woman the other day on youtube using a piece of clay pot heated in fire to straighten (blow out effect) her hair. So I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with manipulating your hair.
For years I didn't use any heat because my goal was to grow my hair out. Butt length hair+ and I'm a 4z girlie. I was very militant and strict with my hair. But after 7 years natural with almost no heat I was tired. And the longest parts of my hair plateaued at just above my bum/hip length.
My icon photo was taken two years ago and it's been stuck at that length. I finally started using my revair 2 months ago and I think my hair is finally growing past my hip! I honestly don't know if it changed my curl pattern but I can tell you for sure that my hair has waaaayyyyy less tangles; even on wash day. Even when my hair shrinks up my hair stays organized. It blew my freaking mind y'all.
It really has given me life. I'm able to play in my hair like never before and I honestly have been experiencing less breakage. A third of the time detangling it. I'm also enjoying the shine I get when I use my revair and twist my hair up. I get to see different plans on my face.
At this point I've done it all. Relax, natural, and now I think I'm considered a blow dry natural. I now just look at hair especially at bw's hair and think to myself, do whatever makes you happy because no matter what you do, people are gonna have their opinions.
I'm just glad that I'm finally getting past the plateau. Who would have thought, stretching my hair with heat would be a game changer. A weight has been lifted off my shoulders:)

Yeah. "Texture release" is quite the euphemism for relaxer. No thanks

I’m not going to lie, I’ve been one of those women who’s been attached to my hair extensions. I’m working on it though😩 lol

But id the "texture release" is defined as being temporary, how can it be similar a texlax or relaxer if both of them are permanent (to the treated hair, of course)?

It’s more so an intuition, I don’t trust it!
