I learned this many years ago while thumbing through the dictionary. I am teaching my kindergartners this same rule. And low and behold I came across your video. Very nice and effective. Thank you.
I remember my teacher saying many years ago that THe should be used when you're singing. At least that's only what I recall, but over the years I've noticed that just about everyone use THe and I was using THEE. Your video was very helpful. Thank you.
English born and bred, always lived in. I did not even realise that I was doing that! it's true - we do say thee when the next word starts with a vowel!!!! in all my days i've never even seen this written down or mentioned and all my friends are from different countries so I thought i would have come across this by now! wow. I say it very mildly as thee but not like Shakespeare's theeee...just a very slight change from the to thee, as i say I didn't even realise i was doing it. If you want to say the internet without saying thee it is still find and wouldn't be noticed, it just is less comfortable in the mouth. It's quite common to say vowels with a little 'croak' on the throat or just very dry- like but can sound a tiny bit german or child like depending on how it comes out so yeah, you can say a gentle thee so slide into the vowel more easily - well spotted ! People from spain always sound like they take a really big THe, with the tongue much further out - it sounds much softer. Which is fine and of course I like it because most people like to hear accents - accents are lovely. But i'm just sharing that incase someone is trying to get rid of their accent, for whatever reason. A few of my friends have tried hard to get rid of their accent - I dunno maybe that's what you do when you live in another country but I like accents and love the spanish accent. :-)
Hi Haddar. It's a very interesting observation about the ''the'' pronunciation. There are some others words that I would like to understand when and where to use them. For exemple: the word ''behind''. I have heard in some situations, people say it as ''beehind'', and others as ''bahind''.(with '''a'' sounding like ''AmericA'' maybe it might be a reginal tendency to speak, like an accent or something. He left the soldier behind... Another word is the indefinite article ''a''. Some people say it just like an ''a'' (as AmericA) and others say it as ''a+ee. aee horse, aee man, etc. Thank you so much for your attention. Great job. Success.
I noticed that when 'The' is followed by a word beginning with a syllable, you linked both words with an imaginary 'y'. It'd have been nice if you have explained it.
You're the best!! Would love you doing a live stream and get individual tips for our channels! Is it possible for you to do that? Greetings from Mexico!
hi Hadar, how about to make video "whether" and "weather" do they sound the same? you are great teacher and you are doing great job, mainly because not the all tutor knows what we really need, I'm getting better thankfully for you, thank you)
Not sure if you'll read this note Hadar, your thoughts on 'th' has opened my eyes. I'm letting my family members know how your courses can help them. Like you, I face "Native speakerism"...I was totally entertained by how you dealt with those who tried to put you down..Can't help laughing within myself...😆😄🤣
pls make a video that learns how to pronounce "th" /ð/ in daily speaking, in the sentences. I think sometimes I hear that some native speakers pronounce it like /d/ in fast speaking, however, their tongue is touching their teeth apparently. thank you again!
I think it is a good explanation, but why does it sound different for vowels like: "The USA", the sound of letter "E" in "th(e)" is like the "E" in Emma. I don't know if I made myself clear.
Yes, you're clear. But I have never heard it pronounced as theh (eh as in red) by native speakers, don't even think it's an option for them.. Maybe thuh (uh as in cup)?
+Denise Maria Branquinho Yes, absolutely. Didn't want to overwhelm with too much info. 'thee' is also used when you emphasize something. Like in your examples. The (pronounced thee) best thing that ever happened to me. The (thee) hardest test I've ever taken, etc.
I’m so sorry to hear! Don’t let it get to you- people are ignorant and then don’t understand how speech works. The fact that you speak a second Language is incredible enough!
Just what I needed, thank you very much, keep the good work :)
Each day I like more and more videos like this. Short and right to the point. Great video Hadar! Good job, as always. Alessandro 🇧🇷

Serik Berik and whether and weather sound exactly the same (at least in contemporary American English)

Nice madam.
Teach me how to use weak forma(reduced forma) in spoken English example you=ya thanks
Ineternet, is that the right way to say it? Please can somebody tell me. Tje word i know is Internet
Spelling is just as important as pronunciation. At the 1:37 mark it should be "internet" not "ineternet."
But I heard a song said "The One" with "Th' One" not "Thee One". Is this rule absolute?
Although 'one' begins with a vowel letter, it actually begins with a w consonant! Wun... so the rule applies
Accent's Way English I see. So the rule is similar with "an" and "a", right? Like "A University, Th' University", "An Umbrella, Thee Umbrella"?
Yes! Exactly! Great:)
and what happens when is "the house"? How is the pronunciation with the h?
Schwa. It's a consonant

You can still pronounce D with your tongue in position for TH just by not contracting your lower lip.

The Accent's Way yeah
i hear many people saying "Thee" most, ex: the most fun, with thee sound.
+Denise Maria Branquinho Yes, absolutely. Didn't want to overwhelm with too much info. 'thee' is also used when you emphasize something. Like in your examples. The (pronounced thee) best thing that ever happened to me. The

The Accent's Way oh, ok! Thank you so much for the feed back!
:)
@@hadar.shemesh I've never heard about it before!!! "Thee" before consonants!🤔 Thank you so much, Hadar, for such a clear explanation!🌹
Pretty much the same as British English :)

I'm at the home now
If it is your home then no 'the'. If it is an old people's home, or similar, then use 'the.'

No, she didn't. she said th'chair for both chairs. The second time she says, "thee apple, th'chair."
