@@beatlesfantoo I went to the shows on the 30th and 31st, I remember Sheila E opening, but the time wasn't there..... I checked out that link you posted, but in the article the guy was 13 at the time and couldn't remember what date he went.... there was elements of the time's songs that Prince included in the show, but the "band" wasn't there... they weren't included on the tour because Morris and Jesse were persuing solo careers by then...here is a link about the tour and who was on the tour and the dates and the set lists of tour...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_Rain_Tour
Man what a musician and performer. The world wasn't ready for this she was way way way ahead of her time. Once a life time performer.
Of all the "Prince Women" she was the only one I thought matched his swagger.
That's why he produced her first 3 albums. He didn't do that for the other ladies.
@@ronaldeatman6603 Thanks. I only casually followed that scene, not like my cousin in Atlanta who actually came to know some of that crowd. I didn't realize the discrepancy. I also thought her having her dad be a longtime and recognized musician probably helped.
Prince may have been ultimately more famous, but if anything he was a “Sheila E Man” since he is the one who followed her career first before he ever became famous and approached her for her exceptional talent when she was already playing for major stars and with her family.
@@ronaldeatman6603 NOPE HE DIDN'T I USED TO LOVE TO WATCH THEM PERFORM TOGETHER THEY HAD THAT CHEMISTRY THAT WAS AWESOME I DIDN'T SEE THAT WITH THE OTHER WOMEN HE PERFORM WITH LOVE ME SOME PRINCE AND SHEILA E
@@ronaldeatman6603 YES HE SURE DID
Holy shit! I always thought Sheila E was just another act controlled by Prince, but she definitely stands on her own. I think I've gone back to watch that encore at least 10 times since I clicked on this video. Glad I decided to watch this because I now have a newfound respect for her.
+koopatroopa187 like how you talk...
koopatroopa187 lol I get the impression no one controls Sheila E.
Prince wrote the music...
U would like to read up on her and her fam then trust me👌🙏
Andrew Brunnette that may be why they never married.
she was the reason I joined my school band! 💖💖💖
Fantastic performance! I love performers who take a bow to acknowledge audience applause. Shows gratitude!
The Ultimate Sheila E Performance!!
literal queen. She didn't need antics but they were glamorous nonetheless! and those glowing drumsticks!
Now THAT is how you rock a stage !
I was lucky enough to see Prince , Sheila E and The Time on New Years 84/85 on Purple Rain Tour. She looked just as HOT then as in this video! It was an awesome show by all performers. RIP Prince and thank you
Lucky you
Wow how was it cause me and my sister saw prince in my hometown Philadelphia in 2004 😊
OMG I'm so glad I grew up in the 80's with the greatest music.
An excellent musician....just like Prince! His musical influence is dripping all over her!
I saw her open for The Purple One, Easter Sunday 1985, under a full moon at the Orange Bowl in Miami! She did this set, & his Royal Badness appeared at the end & joined in with guitar!! It was AWESOME!!!
They draped the entire stadium in purple bunting & hung a huge banner over the entrance sign that read "The Purple Bowl!!!"
I'm watching this alone in my apartment, yet, at the end of this I stood and clapped. Goddamn it!
Hell yeah!
LMAO....but definitely deserved !!!
I remember this performance. Was blown away. Now, why can't the Grammys be like this any more? Be about the music.
3:00 When she threw down the fur coat and picked up them glowing drumsticks!!! DEAD! 💀 That was ELECTRIFYING! I still have goosebumps. Listen to the end where even the darn camera man started clapping. 👏
it's 2020 and I'm still watching the hell out of this video! Who's with me?!
This is by far one of the best female performances I've seen in my lifetime. They don't make bands like this anymore. I wish I would have grown up in 80s to witness all this greatness. I was fortunate to be backstage with her at an award show a few years back. Sheila is a true queen ✨️
this song gave me alot of peace when i was in the air force stationed in england ---alone
This was COOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!
The 80's!! Best time for music.
All eyes on Sheila! Tight band and great performance
I was blessed to see her do this in person at the Prince concert at the Rosemont Horizon n the '80s. What a great time for music. I will never forget her performance, ever!! And Prince's of course.
...the planet had NEVER seen a woman be that GREAT...SAVAGE...DYNAMIC...and SEXY...while playing drums..dancing and singing...and making it all look so EFFORTLESS...with SWAGGER...she was so UNIQUE...and she always had the SLY GRIN...
I remember this performance very well, when I was a kid...I was 11 at the time...
Full of energy and visually stunning...
WytheMan 74 me too! The way that crowd went apeshit during that encore you could tell by the expression on her face when the lights came back up that she KNEW she was fuckin it up!!! She made a name for herself right there in that moment.
Everytime I see her performing, in this video, I get blown away.. love her ❤❤
At this moment in time, Sheila E was the most beautiful woman in the Universe!
I got to see Sheila E in 1985...she toured with Prince...Purple Rain Tour, what a show!
Just when you think you couldn’t miss the eighties anymore, then sheila E shows up!!!’n
Ví esta actuación en 1985 y me gustó y sorprendió mucho. 30 años después, la veo de nuevo y me gusta y sorprende más...
She's an absolute beast. Prince didn't waste his time and efforts on fluff. He of all people knew real talent when he saw it.
I was alive, present and Taped THIS on VHS. AMA 1985❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Didn't hear her until yesterday, A superb and fabulous talent.
Oh yeah. Now that is a performance! Heard this song as I was walking through a store yesterday, which made me think about Prince. Thanks for years of great music!
I remember seeing this and playing drums and going "where can I get those sticks!" I just remember all us kids talking about it at school the next day, just flawless
The consummate professional: Singing, dancing, styling, presentation, charisma
I'm super impressed with her kickin cymbals, that's bad ass!
Awesome drummer performer blessed to lived through the eighties much love 🇬🇧🥰🙏🏻
7-24-2019, This woman is the best then and now. There will be no other like her.
she was like "oh you thought I was finished?!"
ashpar21 exactly whoa❣️🙏🏼
Sheila is so AMAZING!!!!
How do you exist in this time of history and not be in complete awe and reverence that something and someone like this existed?! This ENTIRE movement is so underrated!
Sheila E. Is the flawless drummer around, she was the 1st woman drummer and Congo's on television and also the sexiest black /latino woman alive...😊🙃
