Thank you, I've been wondering how to fix that slope after 4-5 years of PD, I think the theracic slope also affects my diaphragm and respiratory sys negatively.
Just found this video, I just have diagnosed with PD earlier this year. I've had pain and stiffness throughout my body for years but my shoulders a neck have been a especially have been more bothersome. I will start to incorporate these new exercises in my routine Thanks
Wow thanks for them excersizes. I have been bent over 8+yrs. Can't stand straight up or raise my arms above my head hardly. It's definitely exhausting. I will definitely be trying this
Hi! At 0:23 you mention one of the characteristics of PD is the forward head posture and a more kyphotic thoracic spine.. Can you explain why this is? Any pathophysiological reason behind it? Thankyou! Really enjoyed the vid and exercises.
Hi Steve, although just a theory, we think the part of the brain (substancia nigra) that has postural control is negatively effected with PD and coupled with the muscular rigidity seen in PD, this contributes to the forward head posture and thoracic kyphosis. Not sure if this helps or if you would like a deeper explanation, let me know. Happy to hear you enjoyed the exercises.
Think the answer is related to rigidity. Hypertonia is more observable in the flexors of the upper body as they are stronger than the extensors. Or the fact that there are more flexors...not sure which one. The opposite goes for the lower body where extensor rigidity is more observable. Anti-gravity muscles.
Do you have some exercise suggestions for someone who already has the stooped posture? I’ve had Parkinson’s for 20 years and just started with the bent posture a year ago. It’s very exhausting to have to make my body walk upright all the time.
I have head tremors since last 12 years.now I got my MRI done.dr.told no defect in it.dr has given me betacap 40, nuhenz and chlorotril.i am taking this since last 2 months.but no change.please suggest me some remedy.thank you
Hello Dan, I would stay with the exercises for about 2 weeks. Also try to add this one to the program ruclips.net/video/hhQkbd7vfqY/видео.html Good luck
Hello Steve, yes, push ups will help with upper body and shoulder strength. However, a bigger concern is to make sure you are working diligently on "opening up" your mid back and stretching your anterior shoulder muscles and pectorals of the chest. Good luck~ Ed
I have had PD for 25 + years and I find stretching to be immensely helpful. It is hard to get onto the floor to do it but well worth the extra effort. Best of wishes to your Mom.
so I just posted a new video and I don't think I said "ok" more than once! I'm getting better ;) Check it out at ruclips.net/video/WZNJF-rKc9w/видео.html

Thanks so much. Newly diagnosed. Went to dr due to slouched posture, and new onset of right side tremor.

Its gravity. When you are tired you will bend forward becouse gravity helps you and muscles are more " relaxed" , its easier for you.
thanks
You're welcome!
Great👍🙏

Will these exercises help to reverse posture that's already begun to bow in an elderly person with Parkinson's?
Great question, it may not be able to reverse the curve, but it will definitely help it from becoming worse.
