Nice video my dude! This is a weird mash up of older soundigital and Taramps HD elements! Here's what I picked up from your gut shots: - to247ac output fets, only x8 needed for 8k+, likely irfp90n20d same as the Viking 8k is using or similar - as there's only 8 outputs, the drive ICs aren't buffered. Less to go wrong and simpler to repair, but depending on the fets used the drivers may run quite hot. - SI8244bb drivers same as taramps HD line, really nice choice with mega voltage headroom and in/out isolation preventing damage further back in the circuit in case of failure, much better than other SD clones still using 20975s at 5v under their limit lol - MCU controlled power supply pwm and protection with start up health check, should help prevent power supply meltdown in case of a dead output fet, however can be a repair nightmare if they die as you need a programmed replacement from the factory. Taramps are great at supplying these free of charge, no other brands offer this and since deaf bonce don't make these they probably won't be able to get them for you - the style of transformers used are generally more resilient to vibraton damage - Outputs have zeners to clamp gate drive, and what looks like oversized pull down diodes to speed up fet turn-off, should run nice and cool at idle provided deadtime and freq are properly set - Heatsink case is main ground so do NOT short your allen key from 12v screw to the case 😂 - Single positive rail voltage used so there will be half rail DC (80-90v) on both positive and negative speaker terminals at all times while the amp is powered up even with nothing playing, so do NOT let any speaker wire or allen key touch chassis ground, and wait 10min after powering down before touching anything - I spy rail shunts, hopefully the circuit monitoring them is calibrated properly to actually protect against overcurrent unlike most of the other clones and brazilians Provided the power supply holds up and everything's well optimised, this should be fairly reliable at this price point! Main points of failure will just be the volatility of surface mount parts in this environment. If it was the exact same circuit but all through hole they would last years longer!
@@barevids Cool. It's good to know it can be fixed (given enough time). If it became a paperweight I'd be upset. If you have a sec, have you ever worked on a Focal amp? I got a fpx5.1200 but there's no reviews, amp dynos or anything about this amp or the fpx series.

I'm super stoked for you, bud, in how well everything is working out in your favor❤ You've come a long way, and I can feel the excitement you put out through the videos everytime!!
Parker - Here's a simplified understanding of impedance. When you measure the resistance of a voice coil using a digital multimeter, it's using DC voltage. It will measure a fixed resistance. When you measure a voice coil with music or a sign wave, that's using AC voltage. AC "resistance" is called impedance. It is not a fixed number. It can vary based on the frequency of the AC voltage. Impedance can not be measured with a digital multimeter. It's a lot more complicated and requires special equipment. Something like your SMD AMM-1 can measure it. As a side note: When measuring a speaker, the impedance is also influenced by it's enclosure, the vehicle or room it's in, by the amp, etc... There's lots of things that can change the impedance.
How can you measure dc current going into a voice coil? The only current a voice coil ever sees is a alternating current. The only way to get a dc current to a voice coil is to run straight electric to it from the battery and bypass the amp. The amp is actually fighting the ac current passing through the speaker wires, thus creating impedance rise.
@@JasonWW2000 you stated to be exact “ when measuring the resistance of a voice coil using a digital multimeter, it’s using dc voltage” those were your words not mine.
@@jasenlauver4862 Yes. I did not say anything about measuring DC current. I said DC voltage. For example, you have a sub with the sticker fallen off so you don't know what impedance it is. You can use a digital, or analog, multimeter to measure the voice coil resistance. Lot's of people do this. You might wire up multiple subs and want to verify the final ohm load. These meters inject DC voltage through the voice coil. So if it reads 3.8 ohms you know it's 4 ohm nominal. This is the DC resistance or Re spec in the TS parameters. When Parker said he had his subs wired to 0.5 ohm he measured that on a typical DC multimeter. 0.5 ohm is the DC resistance. When you start playing music your passing AC voltage. It won't be 0.5 ohm, it will be higher and it will vary. This difference between DC resistance and AC impedance is what my comment was about. Hope that clears up any confusion.

4:38 It's called Power Compression. You are getting the full power from the amp, @ 1 ohm. your subs are dissipating some of the amp's power as heat, slowly turning your voice coils into a heating element. in turn, will increase the resistance. if you continue or turn it up, your coils will be in thermal runaway, and will blow.
Sorry, that is completely wrong. Power compression is something else. In this case it is simply the difference between DC voltage resistance (0.5 ohm) which is static and AC voltage resistance which varies based on the frequency of the AC voltage.
Impedence rise is simply from the coil moving up and down. Resistance changes as the coil moves. Put a multimeter on a sub coil and push the cone down. You'll watch the resistance change constantly.
@@nathanbesse416 Yes, I know this is true. but the thermals should not increase because of this. The deffinition of power compression states "In a loudspeaker, power compression or thermal compression is a loss of efficiency observed as the voice coil heats up under operation, increasing the DC resistance of the voice coil and decreasing the effective available power of the audio amplifier". In a non technical way, Parker is describing the same thing.
@@JasonWW2000 Interesting point, but the jury is still out. that sounds like an opinion-based technical explanation, I was describing voice coils & increased resistance because of thermal runaway regardless if it's applicable in this cinario. a touring or concert audio engineer would know the correct answer to this phenomenon. question is one going to start up a RUclips channel and cover this topic. yes, touring and car audio are different industries, but car audio amps have surpassed concert power levels in a single amplifier designes. in touring applications, they use limiters to keep voice coils from getting too hot. can't have $300k in subs blowing at a concert. and destroying the show. in car audio, your don't have as much invested in subs, simly because of space constraints. so they tend to not offer sub-woofer protection technologies used in the touring industry because if you melt your car subs, they will get to sell you more.
