Nothing else worked for me. My probiotic cured me. I don't know if we really need a solution that is as unique as our gut biome. Saying that's unique isn't the same as showing that cure needs to be. Also, if you body is an ocean then how does any medicine work?

too many grains & dairy, drinking
water & liquids 30 minutes BEFORE
you eat & 2 HOURS AFTER. Stay
      away from GMOs, sugars, processed
& fried foods. Food PORTION is also
REALLY important. Don't eat too much at one time or the body can't
properly digest it. Don't eat TOO
much FIBER either that can cause
digestive problems. Try some DIGESTIVE ENZYMES too.

Yeah, this guy is hopeless. Firstly, there is a very wide range. There is not a single probiotic. He's arguing against something he's made up. His 2nd argument (how could a small amount of something like bacteria have a large impact on a body - 'teaspoon in the ocean')... I suggest he reads (and tries to understand) ANY book on bacteriology. A tiny amount of bacteria could wipe out a whole species or ecosystem. It has a property of replicating quickly - it's known for it and every medical professional knows it. Most people know it, and that's where the expectation he is referring to comes from.

Prebiotic fiber is probably one of the best things that you can do for your gut health. Prebiotics help your natural gut flora to flourish, it’s like food specifically for your gut bacteria. I have IBS and my stools were consistently watery and unhealthy for over 2 years. I started taking prebiotic fiber supplements (different than probiotics) and started adding more fiber to my diet. Along with taking Psyllium husk every so often when I’m irregular. Fiber is literally such an amazing thing that people do not talk about. It’s best to get your fiber from your diet, but supplements help for days that you don’t have as much.(This is for other viewers, not for dr.Karan. He already knows about this stuff lol)

You must have just missed what he said completely. Lmfao. Probiotics in general are the biggest scam on the damn planet. Just like vitamins most of them. Now there are the select few that actually do work. But they still don't work as well as they're claiming they do. Most probiotics and most vitamins you end up passing them before they ever break down. So you're spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on vitamins a year for nothing. Probiotics is the same thing. There's no way somebody can custom make a probiotic that fits everybody when everybody's microbiome so individual and so unique and also so vast. There's no way, like he said it would be like taking a teaspoon of sugar and putting it into the ocean and expecting it to taste sweet. That's exactly right. But if you do your research on this stuff you'll see exactly what he's talking about me personally I already had a really good idea about it because I was in college so you learn about all that garbage in your core classes but you know it's always good to know what you're putting in your body or what you think you're putting in your body.

I like this dr but he tends to say stuff like this when the truth is because they are unregulated you can’t make a universal statement like this about them. Many of the probiotic supplements sold OTC contain dead or inactive bacteria, meaning it of course does nothing because the point of introducing bacteria is for it to reproduce and it has to be alive and active to do that. We don’t have very large studies on probiotics because of their uncontrolled nature and a lack of funding and interest. As a man of medical science it’s better to say “I don’t know, because there’s no evidence that this works” than to say “it doesn’t work.”

Sorry it’s really hard for me to believe anyone whether a professional or not when it comes to things like this. I say that because I see such a big difference in my body and how I feel when on pro and pre biotics. I understand if everyone doesn’t need them if they have a really well balanced diet but the truth is most of the population doesn’t, look at the ingredients in all the food in the store (preservatives and sugar all work against the good bacteria) than most people are on medications whether it’s antibiotics or other meds they have to take daily that can effect their vowels movements and cause. Instigation or effect gut health. If I don’t take a pre or pro biotic in severely constipated and the only other thing that works is miralax so I would rather do the probiotics than miralax every other day. This isn’t a placebo effect, I can’t trick my body to be constipated or cramp up and why would I want to spend money on something that I don’t need. I’m on a very limited income but make sure I have the money for them to be comfortable. I have since been changing my diet too, I am a naturally thin person, very thin but not healthy, I’m genetically thin, don’t work out and ate junk for so many years because high metabolism I guess but now realize eating healthy isn’t just for those who want to lose weight but it’s important for everyone if you want to feel your best and stay illness free. I started to drink plain kefir, fermented things like kombucha and so on.

    Well, I agree.
It isn’t one size fits all, everyone’s biome is different! And any reputable shops will tell you that, and any doctor will tell you that- don’t know what’s it’s like in other countries- but doctors where I am certainly aren’t benefiting from recommending probiotics to patients.
We’ve come a long way. There are now probiotics available that come from human source and not cow or pig which has even more promising claims. We have now tried fecal transplant- all in the name of helping to regulate a damaged biome- and positive clinical results coming forth each day. I agree proceed with caution- don’t look at it as a one size fits all, don’t put all your hope into a simple pill hoping that it will change your life, absolutely rule out ALL possible other issues before going a holistic route. I don’t see probiotics becoming strictly regulated by the fda any time soon, and that SHOULD be taken into consideration.
But at what point does millions of anecdotes/personal experience about the same thing start to signify something positive that we should really be looking into more? It’s too many people- receiving no financial benefit from sharing their experiences too try to scare people away from it.

I started taking probiotics everyday in the form of yogurt and already was trying to be consistent with a high fiber diet (it’s really hard in this modern world sometimes) and was taking benefiber everyday already. Putting benefiber in yogurt helps me stir the two good fruit yogurt I get and makes yogurt taste more enjoyable because I stir it throughly to try to mix in the benefiber. It also makes me feel better than when I just eat the yogurt without it (maybe this doctor can explain why that happens). I have tried probably 10 different types and brands of probiotics total and the only one that has actually worked for me is benefiber advanced that has a bacillus coagulans probiotic and guar gum for fiber. I don’t know why it works for me. (I have IBS+C and I can’t take psyllium husk because it dehydrates me even when I think I drink enough water.) I take the benefiber advanced every morning and evening and each half day I feel increasingly better. The Culturelle box that was next to the Benefiber Advanced (before I purchased it) said to take probiotics during antibiotic used and 10 days after. I trust that brand because it’s helped me before, so I tried using the advice. I stopped feeling like I was going to die after 4 days of using it (including 2 days after I finished the antibiotic). Today I’m halfway through the 10 days of using benefiber advanced post finishing the antibiotic. I breathing a bit better and since yesterday I’ve been feeling like I can hold onto stamina again. Better is that the powder makes plain water taste like almond flavored milk. There are so many get better fast scams out there but what’s helping me most is soups, plenty of water, a bit of spice (energy and sinus relief maybe though its been in Mexican style soups with lots of vegetables and a bit of meat), produce (both dried and fresh), occasional meat, yogurt, candied ginger (I personally consume a lot but everyone has a different tolerance), whole grains, miso soup (fermented) mixed with matcha, rest, and daily walks. It’s really super simple that eating healthy and moving around helps with getting better.

The benefits of probiotic is within the strain it contains. Each bacterial strain in a probiotic product has a specific effect (e.g initiate anti-inflammatory response by lining the intestinal cells or whichever effect it may be). The strain must be extensively studied too and have strong evidence base. You can't just market a probiotic with 15 strains in it and expect it to work. Some effects of each strain can antagonize other strains.

Actually my doctor tells me to take them, I'm on methotrexate and biological injection medication and these are important to help my gut, a long with folic acid. I had a doctor before, old school who didn't even believe in probiotic folic acid, he said its a drop in the ocean too but he cost me a bone in my wrist, nearly my teeth and thinning hair, once on the supplement it seriously helped me and have much improved health since.
Just be careful, there was even a doctor against triple vaccines for babies before, only he fake the science and sold the single doses to parents instead and made a lot of money. He can't practise here now but still does in the states.

I actually did feel like taking probiotic supplements helped me recover from digestive issues that I had been having for several weeks after having antibiotics.
I wasn't really trying anything else at that moment so I don't think it could have been something else instead. It didn't take long after I started taking them for it to get better.
Is there any logic to that or was that still just a coincidence/placebo?

    • @FelixMangrove
      @FelixMangrove Год назад

No, it did actually work. Once these new probiotics enter the intestines they can start to multiply if you take them with fibre. You don't know which probiotic is deficient so you have to try multiple strains. You can take a fecal test but that is a thousand dollars.

Well after antibiotics everything has been wiped out. So a probiotic is better than nothing. But consider using food next time like yogurt ( even nondairy yogurts have probiotics) and fermented food like kimchi etc. to replace those probiotics and the food is nourishing. Additionally it’s cheaper than buying expensive powder counterparts.

I hope you are feeling better. I had IBS and what helped was practiing fasting. Look up autophagy for gut repair. There is science to back this up. It increases cell turn over so it promotes healing. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try. I wish you the best and hope this helps.

I had severe IBS but thankfully my gastroenterologist treated it with diet. It’s been 25 years since I stopped eating beef and pork and deep fried foods, and I also eat more fiber. I very rarely have a flare up. But keep in mind IBS is stress induced so sleep is very important, also prayer & meditation. As it pertains to this video, one thing I cannot tolerate is probiotics. It’s a mystery, I have tried several kinds over the years until my doctor finally told me to stop taking them since I eliminate regularly.

Probiotics can help a lot in people who take daily medication. I feel so much better when I take them. I take 40-80 billion daily.
