Nutritional properties of sea grapes
Sea grapes are known as umibudo in Japan, but they also have another nickname in Okinawa: 'longevity seaweed'. And in a region famed as having one of the highest proportions of centenarians in the world, this reputation isn’t to be taken lightly. Perhaps the secret to its powers is fucoidan, an anti-oxidant and anti-cancer compound found in spades in umibudo. This sea produce is also packed with vitamins and minerals: vitamins A and C, as well as calcium, zinc, iron, vitamin K and iodine, to be exact. Sea grapes are very low-calorie, but the energy it does provide mainly comes from health vegetable protein and omega-3 fatty acids.

In Mindanao, I have seaweeds at breakfast, Lunch and dinner.
Grabe 2200 for a lobster..mas mahal pa dito sa Canada.bakit saan ba galing yang lobster mo kuya. Beware when you eat there, may extra charges. They wiil take advantage.

In Ilocos we call Lato (Sea Grapes) Ar-arosep, it is rich in Iodine which is good for the goiter. There are other variety of seaweeds.

Hi Jelena, it's good that you didn't pick crabs and it is a wise decision for you can't get all the crab meat while dining and the price is too dear. Better get live crabs in the market where you lived cook it and have it at your own dining table where you can use your bare hands to savor the crab more and you are really pinay for rice is life!
P.S. - next time tell the restaurant crews on how you'd like to prepare and cook your meal like not too sweet or not too spicy or how you like your food to be.

Thank you for educating us about durian. Never tried it but will definitely try it the next time we visit the Philippines. The price, however, is exorbitant (and I think it’s because it’s Manila price).

Anything doubles or triples once it reach manila. Its like imported . Its good theres durian now in manila, when i live there in the 80's i didnt see any so i didnt know that durian grows in pinas until only recently when i saw them on vlogs.

JK, If I am to guess, the so called “ videographer “is not a full blooded Filipino- not that it matter but rather is a son of a foreign wealthy business man or woman born & raised in PH in a sheltered & frivolous life. I hope you latched on to him like an iron grip & live happily thereafter.

Try cooking shrimps in sprite or 7 up softdrinks and add a little bit of salt and pepper. Either you can also cook shrimps sauted in garlic and onion add coconut milk, salt and pepper.

Manila is NOT the entire Philippines. Try going to the provinces and watch your jaws drop when you find out how cheap many foods are.
