Keeping with the theme of mediocre axes used by the royal family line, maybe the Axe o' Godrick next? I will say, the weapon art on this one does look like a lot of fun. I'll have to try that out in NG+ or something!
it's also interesting because the Godfrey axe is just a broken larger version of godrick's greataxe, also without the slight obsession with gold and gold-plating godrick had.

For a weapon wielded by a legendary warrior they should of had at least B strength scaling it's out performed by almost any other weapon it's AoW is great and fun but it just does poultry number
Nah dude. If you dont like pvp, there is no point in intentionally leaving your souls in a harder to reach position. Run closer to the bonfire, and then fight. That way you can learn without being punished crazily *though changing your mind only once you start losing it pretty weak

the axe, armor and stand were all to Limit Hoaroa Loux, to make him civilized.... to be Godfrey and not Hoarah Loux the Warrior... it makes sense that the 'great king's axe' is a balanced weapon, as it fits how he balanced his savagery with civility... and in the end he forgoes ALL pretense and fights warrior versus warrior to the end
Scaling isn't everything. Though, it should have been a pure strength scaling weapon instead of quality but it's base damage is quite high already. You can easily reach an AR of over 1k with it's Regal Roar buff + Flame, Grant Me Strength.
The last invasion was such a beatiful display not only of skill and reaction times but also great strategic thinking and cold blood. Chase never disapoints
Btw, axe of godfrey user here, the stomps go through block, inital stomp deals dmg, follow ups stagger if they good enough blocking, still its a really good counter agaisnt shield&poke players
Hey chase, I’d think it’d be pretty interesting for you to use the raptor talons in a showcase. Claw weapons in general aren’t really used much and it would be cool to see what you can do with them.
If this doesn't prove he can win with any weapon idk what does. He's one of the few creators who can entertain me..... along with pl and lost. It's about attitude and Chase doesn't cry about the problems with the game. He uses the skill gained from the past and just wrecks ppl
Yep my favorite out of the claw weapons, it's look is great and through a playthrough it is really cool to build around as you have three easy routes with it. It just doesn't gell with other builds that well. Like for instance you can go hvy attack or jump build, as its unique hvy is great but it being dex hurts it since most great hvys are strength. The jump can be built around a ton more but is a easy playstyle to counter overall. Granted if you have a bit of lag you become really annoying to deal with with phantom range doubling and invulnerability frames. The other route is arcane since it has bleed you can try that route for fun.
@@mr.goodcat1810 yea I know there is the royal knight resolve bug that makes it potentially able to one shot in pvp, but it has so few ashes of war and the reduced range on them definitely feels a lot worse than in previous games. I did a corvian claw playthrough in dk3 and it was pretty fun do to the ash of war and the quickness it afforded a build to be. But claws here don't get any of the WPA you would think they could have the mist ashes which can be put on almost every weapon nope. And a few others hurt their build variety pretty badly.
Bizarre that they made this weapon a quality weapon, should have been pure STR with like an A scaling. Regardless, it's still a pretty cool weapon, if only for its weapon skill. That alone is why it's my favorite colossal.
Yeah, it's a shame you have to wait until the *very end* of the game to get this weapon. But the Ash of War is what really sells this axe, since it can weapon buff and aoe stun for a follow up slam. It's certainly my favorite as well in NG+ atm on a high STR/low FTH build (over rl150, mind you).
The scaling is so weird on this weapon. Despite having a C scaling in strength and D scaling in dex, the optimal stat allocation is 66 strength and 80 dex. You will sit at 906 AR when two-handing.
Happy to see a colossal axe on here! Hope to see you do one on a non-somber one like duelist greataxe where you can play around with different and flexible ashes of war!

I always admire Chase's patience. I was in a similar situation to that duel at 5:05 with Cloud, both of us low, but me with the slower Godfrey axe. I thought it was just a matchup loss against dual Scavengers, but I also kept trying to initiate too much -- could've maybe won if I just waited for them to come in.
This axe is so sad, imagine if we got a fraction of Godfrey's moveset? The little bunt he does alone would've made this thing a beast, not to mention non-quality scaling.
we really should have gotten the ability to do _that_ grab that hoarah does. you know the one. ideally as the skill of a barehanded fist-type weapon, which would just be the player clawing people into ribbons with their fingers.

You didn't use the R2 follow up after the first R2 a single time. I definitely think you could have caught some people off guard with that had you used it.

The final invasion really made me appreciate Chase's skill. He bested a powerful gank, with a moonveil no less, while wielding a very slow weapon. Oh, and with all his heals stripped in the first 30 seconds. Mad respect, this one really shined out from all the shorter-lived invasions. 👍👍👍

Cool thing about raptor of the mists is that you don’t have to perform a jumping attack. You can pull off a regular attack which is way more reliable to hit than a jump attack.
Hey Chase, you should totally check out the AR Calculator for weird scaling weapons like this one! The Dragon Greatclaw, for example, also has the reputation of a Str-based weapon while in reality it's a pure quality one. Also, give ''Staff of the Avatar'' a try someday! It has great scaling (and hopefuly damage) and has a...butt attack! A holy butt attack!

I'm pretty late to mentioning, didn't see anyone else mention it either, but from my use of it it seems the unique R2s after you do Regal Roar completely bypass shields. Both the ash of war itself and the R2's will just act like the person never was blocking and deal full damage loi. tested against a friend holding various shields and greatshields. Try swapping to it in your strength invasions against a shield poker maybe :P
My guess is that Tabitha decided to run back to the bonfire to die with her runes next to where she'd spawn. I'd honestly do the same if I thought I couldn't defeat the invader. That way I wouldn't have to fight two lions to get my runes back.
I’ve been maining the axe of Godfrey for little while now on a few different build set ups, I get the passive poise but running it with axe talisman, roar medallion, shard of Alexander, and erdtree’s favour with medium armour is my preferred setup / loadout. All the talismans make it so I hit like a truck (slapping people with even un-charged r2’s for around 1200 ish damage) most of my play style is focused around trading attacks with people and hitting them harder due to roar buffed heavies giving a stupid amount of poise. It just feels so good to launch people into the air and leave them on barely any health or to fully tank a guts great sword poke in light armour, I guess i have a barbarian / berserker type thing going on and I’m loving it. Anywho sorry for rambling, I’m just a fan of big weapons in this game and especially in pvp Keep being awesome chase! Love u and ur content ^^
I have a full blown Godfrey cosplay using this weapon and heavy spiked caestus with Hoarah Loux’s earth shaker. Does surprisingly well in duels especially if people think they can trade hits with me
I rock that spear all the time! Ok, I use it in very specific PVE situations, and it's still not great lol. The damage is so much lower than the harpoon. The AoW is fun, does good poise damage, but it takes forever to cast :(
22:20 Poor Blue. It can take hours till you actually get summoned and half the time the invader/host gets killed before you can get to the fight. Or you can run into those weird invasions where the invader and host are just playing around with each other, meme-ing and not fighting. Sometimes you are spawned behind a bunch of PvE and have to fight your way through to get to the invasion. You can get ambushed from behind as you are spawned in. This guy probably tried to run passed a Banished Knight and got clapped. Plus any consumable items you might have been using during your playthrough, do not get replenished when you are brought in. On top of all that, any tough enemy or field boss you might have been fighting in your game, gets their HP reset but yours does not. This happened to me fighting the Draconic Tree Sentinel at a relatively low level and was having a hard time. Came back to my game with half health, in range of the boss (who had full health again) and got smashed. Have a little sympathy for the boyz in blue.
This weapon definitely needs to be reworked. It should scale much higher with strength considering that it is a colossal weapon. It also seems quite hard to hit people with than most other colossal weapons. Also the strength requirement is much higher than the dexterity, so it should scale accordingly.
Not sure if you would see this, but the r2 on Godfrey's axe (not ash of war moveset) is lethal, since the timing almost perfectly roll catches them when they would normally roll an r1.
Ok Chase, seeing you clutch the Castle Sol 2v1 fight was just absolutely epic! Your skill is something else man. Also: "You literally hold the Moonveil in your hand, you're fine. You are fine.." 5 seconds later: Dead! >
This weapon was one of my favorite weapons instantly when I started playing around with a Godfrey/Hoarah Loux cosplay. It was so fun catching people off guard.
Nice way to balance out your video by testing out this axe so soon after the Moonveil. While that sword made it pretty easy for you, this time it definitely felt like you were playing with a handicap. Great job!
I hope they buff this weapon in the future and let you roll after the stomp from the heavy attack, it would make it so much better. I don't know if the stomp guarantees the follow-up, but I think it should as well.

Not sure if it works. But if the roar talisman applys to it you could use both it and the offhand stormveil axe for a +22.5% increase to damage for the buffed heavys on top of the charge attack buffs.
I’d love to see the Dragon Halberd- I love the variety of attacks you get from powerstancing the poke halberds and changing between the L1 and R1 and the ash of war is aesthetically cool if nothing else (that being said if you wait a second before doing the follow up people do get caught out by it.)
It would have been awesome to see you use the last hit of the buffed R2 combo. A really cool weapon otherwise. I think I’ll try and make a build around it :D

Hoarah Loux feels both dexterous and strong. It makes sense to me he's the master of quality.

If the roar is still up, it's a guaranteed knock-b ack who comes to close to its range since its a lingering effect. Those stomps bypasses shields.

I rock that spear all the time! Ok, I use it in very specific PVE situations, and it's still not great lol. The damage is so much lower than the harpoon. The AoW is fun, does good poise damage, but it takes forever to cast :(

It can take hours till you actually get summoned and half the time the invader/host gets killed before you can get to the fight. Or you can run into those weird invasions where the invader and host are just playing around with each other, meme-ing and not fighting. Sometimes you are spawned behind a bunch of PvE and have to fight your way through to get to the invasion. You can get ambushed from behind as you are spawned in. This guy probably tried to run passed a Banished Knight and got clapped.
Plus any consumable items you might have been using during your playthrough, do not get replenished when you are brought in. On top of all that, any tough enemy or field boss you might have been fighting in your game, gets their HP reset but yours does not. This happened to me fighting the Draconic Tree Sentinel at a relatively low level and was having a hard time. Came back to my game with half health, in range of the boss (who had full health again) and got smashed.
Have a little sympathy for the boyz in blue.

This weapon definitely needs to be reworked. It should scale much higher with strength considering that it is a colossal weapon. It also seems quite hard to hit people with than most other colossal weapons. Also the strength requirement is much higher than the dexterity, so it should scale accordingly.

Not sure if you would see this, but the r2 on Godfrey's axe (not ash of war moveset) is lethal, since the timing almost perfectly roll catches them when they would normally roll an r1.
Just started using this weapon on my str character... That special r2 is surprisingly fast, I love it

This weapon was one of my favorite weapons instantly when I started playing around with a Godfrey/Hoarah Loux cosplay. It was so fun catching people off guard.

I hope they buff this weapon in the future and let you roll after the stomp from the heavy attack, it would make it so much better. I don't know if the stomp guarantees the follow-up, but I think it should as well.

Not sure if it works. But if the roar talisman applys to it you could use both it and the offhand stormveil axe for a +22.5% increase to damage for the buffed heavys on top of the charge attack buffs.
I’d love to see the Dragon Halberd- I love the variety of attacks you get from powerstancing the poke halberds and changing between the L1 and R1 and the ash of war is aesthetically cool if nothing else (that being said if you wait a second before doing the follow up people do get caught out by it.)
It would have been awesome to see you use the last hit of the buffed R2 combo. A really cool weapon otherwise. I think I’ll try and make a build around it :D
