that's because you've not watched his invasions. I've never seen him lose a round two rematch. This was the first time he was bested in a showcase, but also then got the rematch and the revenge, funny enough.
The reason why Tyr has two axes is that the Highland Axe (the one on his back) has a passive that can enhance roar attacks for 15%, which also stacks with Roar Medallion, so his Beast Roar can do some good dmg if they connect.
Idk if you have figured it out yet, but there’s something called “aim punch” in this game. When you get hit while attacking, it will effect your animation AND the hitbox of your weapon. Amir. did a video on it, and the title is “Why Do Elden Ring Hitboxes Randomly Miss?” I highly recommend everyone watching it. This is why in this video @15:38, you’re attack missed. Him hitting you while you were in your charged R2 altered your animation which in turn altered the hitbox. It’s definitely a big problem. Hopefully FromSoft will fix it but it feels like not many people even know about it.
Cool little thing with this and iron cleavers R2. You can sprint, then when you R2, instead of running R2, stop pressing sprint a hair before you press heavy attack, and it's a really smooth transition, it's like your character doesn't stop running at all.
Some improvements to the build: - Iron Cleaver has the same heavy attack and better strength scaling - Exulted Flesh, Jellyfish Shield and Uplifting Aromatic/Golden Vow aow buffs stack with the buffs seen here (Spiked Cracked Tear and rkr) to push the damage even further
Mad respect for your dedication to the craft. Each of these showcases you're genuinely trying to learn the weapon itself, utilising it's move set. Visions of Proximo saying "win the crowd!"
I tried to farm this weapon for hours and just could not get the drop After a while I started to feel like a monster just killing everyone in that village over and over again
I would love to see Astel's boss weapon or the Family Heads, both have unique weapon arts and you hardly ever see them. A build similar to the one in this would be good, you need the poise, but they can do some crazy damage (especially the BS)
There’s another one I was experimenting with, Idon’t recall what it was, I think one of the regular thrusting swords, but it was maddening. The second r1 is aims ever so slightly to the right of the enemy, so it feels like it misses most of those hits. And I’m certain it’s just me, but I feel like I have terrible luck (skill, it’s actually terrible skill) with the r hit diagonal attack weapons. I feel like my swordspear attacks just glide past my enemies.
The Crucible Knight cosplay did Howl of Shabriri incantation for the 25% damage boost buff. This also makes the caster take more damage in exchange, but this is considerable for really high damage builds. Along similar lines, people would get Seppuku with the Varre's white mask for bloss loss buff for more damage, then mushroom crown poison themselves for more damage, low health damage boost, and use the jellyfish shield buff all with the Royal Knight's Resolve to effectively 1-shot bosses while powerstancing colossal weapons.
At 15:38, the reason you didn't land the charge R2 is because of a contortion glitch in Elden Ring that was much less prominent in previous FromSoft entries. As explained by Amir, apparently when you get hit by an attack that you can poise through, the character model contorts while doing an attack animation, thus causing your attack to completely miss its target. In fact, sometimes while using a thrusting weapon, this glitch can actually be somewhat beneficial to you. This is because while doing a thrusting attack, the character model contorts so much that sometimes you land a hit that regularly you should have completely missed.
Long time lurker, always love to see these showcases. Keep doing your thing dude! (Chase being defeated during a showcase, only shows the terrifying fact he needs to be intentionally nerfed to be on the same level as us mortals)
Daaaaaamn it's been like 4 years no joke since I've seen someone defeat Chase in a duel. Gotta appreciate the honesty, other people would've edited that out.
Cambris was using the Sword of Milos from the dung eater. Greatsword with 55 blood loss buildup. The ash of war debuffs your opponent for 15% to all damage resistances, aswell as increase your physical damage by 85. On top of that it turns the R2 into wild strikes practically. Would love to see this one in a showcase :D
I remember Tyr being one of your regulars in the viewer ganks back in DS3 days. Don’t know if it’s the same Tyr but it’s interesting that it would be that name of all names.
hard to tell on my phone, but it looked like the dual axe guy might have been holding the highland axe offhand for the roar buff on it.. speaking of, and your charged heavy build, should try the highland axe and barbaric roar...the heavy is actually pretty decent
One of if not the funniest build to watch so far! Was genuinely shocked when Chase died to Tyr... My jaw dropped and I replayed the moment of his death just to be sure it wasn't my imagination... "BONK!"... Let's name this build "bonk". I wanna try bonk myself!
That R2 that missed on 'Warden' is an example of the incredibly annoying hitstun animation that for whatever reason changes the direction of attacks + their hitboxes You can look into it yourself of course but I've seen it be so extreme that it moves a spear's hitbox to directly behind the user causing an enemy behind them to get killed
You should do a showcase for the fallingstar beast jaw some time, the weapon art is super good and catches people off guard. The 2 handed crouch r1 can also be used kinda like the crouch poke. Also, I wasn't expecting to see the first death in this series today, but to be fair you can't really switch weapons depending on your opponent when doing these.
Hey Chase, I would love to see you use some magic builds as well. I’ve found that having a rotation of spells alongside a melee weapon adds a tremendous amount of depth to my pvp gameplay, and I would be very interested to see what you could do with it
I know Chase probably won't read this, but the reason why Tyr is using the axe on his back is bc the Highland Axe boosts Roars power, and he's using the troll's roar.
Cool weapon. How about trying the Miquellan Knight's Sword (long sword). I've been using it quite a bit recently, it has a fast and powerful charge, it could be interesting for PvP.
Dude I'm gonna be real I always just assumed that Chase would edit out the duels he lost, but this vid makes me think that he really just doesn't lose much at all...

I have only seen him die from jumping off ledges to reset his world, (before he switched to PC and had Wex dust), 1 shot hackers or to Hacker boss fights. And I've even seen him overcome those odds first try 99.9% of the time.
BTW, the reason you missed some of your R2 poise trade, is NOT due to package lost, nor because of you doing anything wrong. It is because ER has a flinching mechanic similar to some FPS, which makes your character twitches like being possessed when taking a hit, causing your attacks to miss entirely.
It turns out all it takes to defeat Chase in battle is to be a literal nordic God of War. Who'd have thunk it? given the fact how much you enjoy this, I think you should try some warcry builds :D Ya know, offhand highlander axe, roar talisman, axe talisman, warcry buff your weapon and go full heavy charge. For example partizan gets charging thrust attack, some weapons do pancakes, almost all weapon do staggers on low poise targets before the actual hit lands!. its lot of fun in PVE, makes me wonder if ya can make it work in PVP :D
Lol Chase and I both literally switched to the same exact armor set and almost the same Talismans, nice. It's got most of the poise of Bull-Goat, but 10x the drip.

Hell ya. It was epic indeed.
I have lived long enough to see Chase lose a duel, WP
I'm late to commenting on it, smh
this is actually the first time ive seen chase defeated
I was honestly more surprised chase lost than pretty much any plot twist in and movie ever. Chase is the 🐐 after all

Nope. Because this IS NOT highland axe.
That's the warped axe my guy, I think Tyr just wanted to match Chase with a swimilar weapon.
