Great respect to all the chefs creating wonderful masterpieces! What an art.
From a guy who wound't really eat raw fish to a Japanese Omakase experience. You've turned a corner my friend! Great to see you finding a new category to explore and enjoy.
yeah...its amazing how its easy to 'turn a corner' when there's money round the bend...great guy who sold out. Shame
@@jonnywas2665 What do you mean by that? How is he “sold out.”
Asian cuisine and Asian Chef's are the best in the world. These Chef's are very humble and very creative, they are definitely not on a power trip like the Western and European Chef's are. Bravo to this Master Chef who's preparing Mikey's meal.
I couldn't agree with you more. Western chefs are totally full of themselves, treat people terribly, and act like they know everything. You do SCULLERY WORK FOR A LIVING, GET OVER YOURSELF. The Food Network isn't calling any time soon, you're mad about it, and you want the world to know it, oooooo, big deal. I can't stand them.
Still remember the days mike wouldn't eat any sushi and look at him now, food looks so delicious
I think it's sashimi that he doesn't eat back then but sushi is ok as long as it's doesn't have any raw fish
@@LemoNanora He eats raw fish now though. It used to be that he wouldn’t eat anything raw. I think that John Daub got him to really try sushi while in Japan.
Yeah, me too. That was my first thought. It was a long time ago now! He's come a long way... 😃
@@tempesttube Yeah, I struggle hard with eating raw stuff, too. Wish it would come easy so I can enjoy things like in the video.
@@Arthrexx I enjoy a lot of different kinds of food, so I like to encourage people to try things. However, I know a lot of people who hate trying food that’s out of their comfort zone, so I usually suggest small steps that are likely to be positive. e.g., for sushi, even some of the cooked items are adventurous to a lot of people so I suggest starting with things like eel and smoked salmon. Separating the idea of eating something raw from the act of actually eating something raw can help too. Spicy tuna is popular among people who still don’t like the idea of eating raw fish, even though they are. In Mike’s case, I think that he was fortunate to have a very positive first experience, even though he tried a lot of things at once.
It's like, considering what you get with the experience, the price isn't all that insane. You'll pay more for far less in the states, and the sheer craftsmanship of the chef...a pleasure to watch.
Mikey gets paid to travel around the world & eat all the best foods. What a job.
Self employed. Go live that life.
Best job ever!
@@divinekpl1 he's definitely a millionaire, and your post history is really cringe btw
Seems like a tool, surprised he has this following
And Who pays him for that job?😂
That Wagyu sushi looked so extravagant
I envy Mikey as I would probably never manage to get a reservation at this place. A tell tell sign that this is indeed a high end restaurant is how they prepare the rice. No sugar added and using black vinegar. At most luxurious sushi joints, red vinegar is all the hype, but this place doesn’t even conform to that. Shows the confidence of their dishes to be the best.
Thinking the same! He probably got an invite or has connections 😮
@@sokiepokiee Maybe, but he has enough flexibility to plan trips around the reservations.
I just checked the link he out for this restaurant. Anyone can make a reservation.
Black vinegar is amazing. I use it in my BBQ at home. 🤟
@@ruthwhite3938 Thanks!
i loved how you included footage of the chef making the sushi with sound and not just music especially when recorded him putting the burned wood on the sushi it makes the video more satisfying
That looked like a bargain at $100 for the amount of quality sushi. Impressive.
How did you find out the price?
@@疑是地上霜床前明月光 It's in the title of the video
@@q0m4 🤦♂
Its now about $357.00
It’s not 100$ I went recently and it was like 175$
wow, what a talented chef. using that red hot wood charcoal to sear the soft fish without tearing it is really impressive.
I can almost taste it!!! that chef is genious!!! I'll take all the Wagyu please and thank you! Miso soup is my heart food - it makes me feel so comfy
Japanese chefs are so smart. Use the least amount of ingredients but charge the most. Well done!!!
I absolutely love watching this talented sushi chef create such beautiful pieces. Visually they are gorgeous but, even though I’ve tried a number of times, I can’t stand the consistency of raw fish. Perhaps if they could take all of these expertly sliced fish pieces and put them on the grill I’d be good to go, lol!
I’m the same! I truly do wish I could enjoy the taste and texture of raw fish but I just can’t.
I was jealous for a solid 15 minutes... Definitely getting sushi for dinner tonight.
And I'm curious if anyone has ever considered starting a drinking game to drink every 5th time Mikey says Umami...
Or Amazing!
There's already a fan based drinking game like that, it started a few years ago and we drink everytime he says Umami ...we have to buy it by the bottle now adays
Spicy
Briney
Not too sweet
Eggy
Thanks Mike for taking us out on a tour. We wish you all the best in your life.
Watching him is brilliant his like a magician making that sushi! Amazing skill, like a show and dinner x
His voice is hushed like In a sacred place.
Is it really a michelin star? I can find another Sushi Shin in Nishiazabu with a star in the guide but the Sushi Shin Asagaya doesn't seem to have one. Just curious about which one you went to.
Now you know this restaurant is special if Mikey is wearing a button up shirt!! LOL
sushi chef is amazing just WOW
If I get word of Mike eating sushi at some amazing sounding place, I come running 😅 this food looks bangin...!
I would absolutely love this. I actually prefer smaller more manageable bites for my sushi so I can enjoy it instead of stuffing my mouth trying to force it all down. This truly seems like it would be heavenly
i’ve always wanted to know… and it’s none of my business… but i used to watch your videos from the beginning, especially the ramen tour you did in NY. i can tell when there’s so many people, you kinda just walk in the restaurant. in one’s like these, that are more intimate, do you call in and let them know who you are due to the intimacy, or do these restaurants usually just do intimate fine and dine? i know some restaurants actually do this so i was genuinely curious. what’s your take?
This video made my day! i can not wait to go to Japan!
I just had an incredible Omakase meal at Sushi Shin tonight in the Asagaya area of Tokyo. It was so unique, fresh and delicious! Thank you to Chef Shinji and Mikey Chen for the recommendation!
Have added it to my list. Will be visiting later this year. Thanks!
I'm proud of you, Mikey. Remember when you hate sushi in early videos? Now look at you 😀
Happy to see that you didn't wear a tee shirt to a Michelin star restaurant again!
The envy I’m feeling right now has to be unhealthy, lol. This looked incredible. Everything about that experience looked magical. The chef’s craftsmanship…chef’s kiss!
If this is in Nishi-Azabu in Tokyo, it is indeed a one star Michelin restaurant. The average price of a dinner course is $150.
Thank you Mike Chen. I love your Video reviews and especially this one. I’ve known about this place after watching your review video. I visited it and had a great experience just as you’ve described. Thank you and looking forward to your new great, helpful reviews of restaurants all over the world 🙏🍀🥩🍣🍤🍲
The food looks so delicious. And I love sushi. Thanks for taking us along.
Looks absolutely delicious. Definitely going to have to stop here when I visit! Great to watch!
Gotta love the Michelin star restaurant is just a hole in the wall, which makes it even better
The hands of an artist!!!
That was the best "I want to be there" Sushi vid I have ever seen in my life. He is amazing.
Dang everything since I saw Mike unlocked his ability to eat raw sushi... he is going for the real deal
He's been going all out! I am definitely jealous of all that intimate seafood time he's gettin'... 🤣
I can’t believe you only had to pay 100 for that much sushi of such high quality. On my bucket list forsure
The hands for chefs that make sushi are just build different. The way they move their wrists, fingers, everything....it's just mesmerizing to me! I could watch a chef make sushi for hours.
Look at the elaborate processing, I really like it
What are the requirements to go into Japan now? since I'm not vaccinated.
chef likes italian food im guessing. olive oil, truffle, balsamic vinegar? brilliant. also limes, caviar, so many different aspects. so different. love it. wish i can taste the experience
I would have asked chef if I could hold his knife for a minute. Theres no way in a million years i could afford Japanese steel knives like that. I so enjoyed just watching the techniques used alone.
Magic Spoon Price in Germany is like lobster with caviar topping...
Ohhh those oysters. Mmmmm. The rest looked fab too. Actually salivating at the screen 😆 🤣 😂
I remember that times when he didn’t eat raw fish… some other utuber helped him get over the fear🤣🤣 and apparently he hasn’t looked back since!!! I love love sushi!!
Everything looked great, what a restaurant. Thanks for another great video!
Only Mike can chow down a MICHELIN star sushi chefs food, as if it was some homestyle all you can out buffet and his last meal..
Mikey pulling up with a shirt on means its serious business time
This chef is amazing
Not food : ART
Wow ! sumptuous feast of sushi. 🍉
Ya Killing me! So Amazing!!!
Mikey and Mark are the marvel movies to the food world
Has a whole row of cost hangers and put his on a chair 🤣
This is a spectacular video Michael!!!💞💞💞🌺🌺🌺
Wow! Oyster and Uni!! I have to try it!!
I am glad Mike loves sushi now else he be missing out. I remembered he doesn’t eat raw food last time
2 vids in one day!!!❤
Does anyone else feel irrationally proud every time they see Mike eating sushi? It wasn't long ago he refused to even consider it.
The most unbelievable part is the price, similar places in NYC charge $300+ pp easy.
Wooo! Everything looked so delicious!
caviar, truffles, and wagyu!!! wow that's definitely a Michelin star
Sushi where I'm from does not look very high quality. So I don't eat it. But I'd try really good sushi. It always looks so pretty
The price on their website says 30,800 yen per person for omakase and 19,800 yen for nigiri. I'm not sure where $100 comes from? This is misleading.
you really need to try the omakase at royal sushi and izakaya in philadelphia, I know it sounds counter intuitive, but the fish is flown in from japan daily and the experience is amazing.
Nothing like edible works of art
Cant believe hes actually clapping at 15:55!! Lol!
One of my life goals.
Thanks for sharing this video
I thought you weren't supposed to use metal silverware with caviar? I learn so much from your videos.
The truffle pieces falling on the counter made me feel uncomfortable. lol
Ow wow 😳😊😊, this is like an art . Superb
Do you taste the difference on the actual wasabi?
Looked delicious! Great price Wow!
Have you been to the Furusato Matsuri food festival held this January?
Clean and hygienic as well
that looks so fresh
Know any other words other than ooomummy?
Mike sounded super sick at the start of the video. Very congested and looking kinda tired.
Simply dumpling no more eh long time no see my friend
I need to get one of those wasabi rhizome grinding plate thingies, I have a “sharkskin” chojiro but it doesn’t seem to do as good of a job.
That was an amazing looking meal!
Of course, it cost almost 5 dollars a bite, so it ought to have been life changing at the very least.
This is awesome! I feel like he could get trained to do general surgery in a weekend 😂
finally a food reviewer who dresses nicely for a luxury meal , other food video reviewers just wear nasty t shirts that you would wear to Burger king .. The food Looked Out of this world ..yummmmm
Wow 18 course sushi 🍱 🍣
Another day, another mouthwatering video!
I love how eastern cultures use chopsticks (if that’s what they are called) to help with cooking especially fine movements! Compared to western cultures like America where we have MASSIVE tongs to work with…
😍 I’m drooling
Have you ever eaten at Jiro’s sushi restaurant in Japan
It was a pleasure to watch that chef work! 🤤
Mikey - Wow.
Basically everything is just umami and tender or briny. This guy really doesn't bother even faking it anymore.
Great, new, deep…
Amazing.
thats what real authentic japanese sushi is, rice is very small than the meat
Definitely worth $100...👏👏👏
I'm proud of you Mikey... Loving the sushi episodes
mikey. how did you book this restaurant?
PLEASE reply, me and a group of friends are going to Japan in May and want to book an omakase restaurant.
