Great video! Instead of the specialty prybar, use a breaker bar and socket on the tensioner nut, just crank on it as if tightening the nut and the wheel will move off the belt while you slide the belt on. Mechanic quoted $240 to replace the split belt. I just did it in 5 minutes. That's a savings rate of $3,000/hour. So good.
Yes that also works better lol! But had to plug the sponsor. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the tutorial, my wife and I replaced a belt last night and we are back on the road! Thanks again!
Awesome! Glad I could help!
@@prestofixit3518 hey man how's the belt going? i see the OE calls for 6PK1117. I tried 1115 which after market sellers recommend but i believe its failed pre-maturely, so thinking of trying 1120 like you have.
@@JH-sc7cs the belt is still working good!! 20k miles ok it and no problems
@@prestofixit3518 thank you, i've ordered one to replace my 1115 gates micro-v belt. It's worn out less than 5k kms, pulley wheel seems to be in good shape.
I just paid a shop $190 to do this 😢 but I didn’t have a choice since I’m away from home. Great video 👍
Thank you very much. The best DIY video on this subject I have seen performed outside of a auto shop.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and commenting!!
thanks for the info. you can also use a 17 mm wrench on the tensioner and move it to insert the belt
Thank you! I will keep that in mind for next time:)
Much needed video thanks I’m also from Massachusetts too lol
Thanks for watching!
Super nice I really do appreciate the information
Edit
Just got the belt on everything worked perfectly thanks to your informational video I really do appreciate it once again
Thank you for watching!!
So what would be the reason the belt won’t go over the last part? Trying to do this at home and the belt is not wanting to stretch over last part. Thanks
Would a 16 inch pry bar be long enough?
good work
Thanks bro!
A 17 mm socket on the end of a 1/2 breaker bar will do the job fine. Turn it clockwise until you touch the release tension. It takes 10 min piece of cake. 😊
Thanks so much for this, I just did the belt swap in 5 minutes using a breaker bar and socket. Socket goes on the tensioner nut, tension wheel moves up and off the belt... so easy!
I’m assuming once you go counterclockwise it will tension up again or does the tension stay as long as you’re turning?
U the man bro
Thanks brother!
Hey man...theres a second belt on tiguan models? Or just one 🙂 TY for repply

For us models I only know of the 1 belts. But I’m sure might have 2 but I don’t know.
Pliable is the word you’re looking for
Thank you
Where in Massachusetts do you live?
Boston
They got videos with these geniuses taking the rim, wheel housing plastics talk about overkill?

I have a 2018. That nub you leverage the pry bar on is not on my car.
A 17mm socket to apply tension on that bolt works as well
