Today’s video is just a quick discussion about plans for the new Tiguan motor! Was going to be recording stripping the whole motor down but since filming this the whole engine is torn down and waiting for parts. Should be coming this weekend so stay tuned for build videos in coming weeks!

Today’s video is on how to replace your failed clock spring in a 2013 vw Tiguan. As well as how to code new module. This process should be the same across all first gen tiguans 2009-2016. Tools needed are simple T15 t25 torx 10mm socket Some sort of pick or small screwdriver to remove airbag M12 triple square bit, or a t55 torx bit. But possibility or stripping it. Short video walking you through how to do dsg adaptations on a dsg swapped Tiguan! It’s the same way you would do it on any other factory dsg car. You will need VCDS or OBD11. The steps must be followed in order as well. Thanks for watching!

Turn the ignition on amd repleace the parking brake as normal and then wind back with wind back tool. Once new discs and pads are all fitted just put the parking brake back on. Will work fine l.
I also have the same problem i.e. damaged plastic connector housings. This vid showed me how to tackle the replacement job. Many thanks.
Looks stock mine moves up in 3 increments

Hello, this comment is not related to this video, but i've watched your dsg conversion and i wanted to ask a thing or two. Do i need to code something when i'm done with the wiring and will vcds do the job? Thanks in advance!
@@dennisz623 no coding doesn’t work cause all the other modules aren’t designed for the dsg. I ended up swapping the ecu over to one from a gti and it fixed trans communication problems.

nice video man. thanks. Im trying to do a "basic settings" procedure (as in your video) for my DSG6 transmission in my Seat Altea 2005 2.0 FSI. But for some reason my VCDS pages/groups dont match. I have a HEX-V2 adapter cable. my VCDS is version 23.3.1 (sop newer then the video). For some reaon my ATF temps are in group 008 and 010 and not in 019 like they show in the video. 019 actually just shows ERROR. Then I went into "basic settings" and looked up group 061 and it just shows ERROR. Neither are the other groups they mention in the video. What am I doing wrong? any ideas?
My only experience with this engine was that it leaked EVERYWHERE, Burned coolant, leaked oil from the waterpump, valve cover, and oil pan. It was grandpa driven and well maintained, at 80k miles. Truly it was hot garbage. (2013 Tiguan)
@@tripleBOOMER that sucks! I’ve had hit or miss problems with mine. Currently my motor in my car has 240k miles on it and still runs! Just had low compression in one cylinder, but that being said I beat the absolute hell out of it and it still runs!
@@prestofixit3518 yeah I honestly think the engine damage came from when VW put the thinner oil from the newer models in it and it burned over three quarts in a week. And then they denied that it could have happened because the tech wrote down the oil it’s supposed to have. But it wasn’t burning oil before hand 🤷♂️ in the end it would just cost too much because the engine was not the only problem. Those panoramic roofs WILL leak thanks to cheap bushing and lines.
@@prestofixit3518 although I don’t doubt you’ve gotten yours to 200k+ do to a coworker I knew having a Passat 2.5 at 236000 with zero issues or oil burning.
@@tripleBOOMERyea the pano roofs leak like no body’s business! Also vw says 10k oil changes and that’s just wayyyy to much for these motors. I always do 3k and liqui molly flush every other change. I burn less than a quart every 3k miles.
@@tripleBOOMER2.5s last well over 300k especially the 5 speed stock or a 6 speed and boost and it'll eat is20 GTIs. Get a rabbit if you want a reliable boost able vehicle. Or a mk6 golf either way get the 5spd don't get the automatic
in the middle of this swap on a VR6 swapped Tiguan. Am i correct to get it to drive you did zero ECU/TCU coding? all wiring no computer adjustments?
@@tiguannerd.vr6 yes technically. It will communicate and work just doesn’t have parameters for the dsg. So take off will be clunky and shifts aren’t as fast. Also you will have constant check engine light and communication errors.
@prestofixit3518 okay thank you. I see you did a flash later on using pcm tuner. Was this due to not having VAGcom or can this not be done using vagcom?
@@tiguannerd.vr6 no you can try changing coding over to a dsg but my computer wouldn’t accept the coding. Since I’ve swapped in a gti computer and everything shifts like it’s supposed to! Just you lose abs and traction control cause of modules not compatible with gti computer

Is it stock or have you done a few things? Also are you just holding down the traction control button to turn everything off. My truck keeps defueling when I try to get down like that.
If you pull the fuse on the 17-19 6.7s, it will get down like this. There's a top cory video on it. I can't remember which one it is, but ya, pull the fuse bunch of safety lights come on, do a massive burnout, put it back in all the lights, go off

Do I need to empty my tank before doing this? My tank is full but one guy said it would overflow if I don't bring it down to 1/4 tank first.
@@NeuroPulse not too sure. I think anything under half a tank would be fine.
yo what mods have you done besides the exhaust and intakes?
How do you reset the brake light in this instance?
Stock turbo and intake?
No cold air intake and k04 turbo
You can also take the black Parking brake box off of the caliper and rewind that plunger inside of there with a drill and I believe its a T25 or T30 Torx or equivalent size allen bit. Much easier doing it that way honestly. Took me like 20 minutes to do the whole job.

summarizing, all that have to be done is to pull the stock tune ecu file off to remove the tcm communication error code and then flash the stock tune ecu file back on the ecu to solve engine light issue. And as an option, you can reflash using a GTI tune ecu to have quicker shifts. Is that correct?
Yea you are right about the first part! You can flash a gti file on the computer and it will work just like a dsg car! No bucking and everything works good. Only problem being the tiguans never came with a dsg in the states. So when you flash a gti file the computer takes it fine, but all the other modules don’t like it cause they are all programmed for a Tiguan. So all the abs traction control stability control and epc lights are all on and won’t take the coding to shut them off. So still working on a solution.
@@prestofixit3518so what's the better route? Just swap a DSG in and deal with the slower shifting but better reliability when going for a k04 turbo. Or do the coding for faster shifts but have lights? Or swap the DSG in and go standalone ecu?
While getting it dyno tuned for the custom ECU I wonder if the trans can be controller off that
Hi, nice work!! I trying to conclude a 09G to DQ500 swap, but my switch lever stuck at P with P light blinking. I connected the two can wire, a disconnected the pin 3 wire in the lever connector. Can you help me?

Thanks. Prepping for spark plug replacement and was concerned about the coil connectors breaking. After watching this I feel more at ease.
Thanks for sharing. It’s best not to apply power to the actuator like that, especially when it meets resistance like that, as there are belt drives and gear drives within the actuator that can be damaged. Best to remove the actuator and wind the brake by hand. This is of course in the absence of a scan tool, or diagnostic software which is ultimately best practice.
How did you fix the U0101 code?
You need to have a tuner delete the code from the ecu.

Great vid thank you, but how did you release the brake with gnision switched off, or did you leave keys in ignision ?.
I put my key in the ignition to the on position without starting the car, pressed the brake and handbrake switch to take the handbrake off then took the key out of the ignition. make sure the car is in gear with the front wheels chocked

Would a 16 inch pry bar be long enough?
Got my swap up and running, however I cant find out where to put pin 7 on the DQ250 connector. It is the speed signal wire, do you remember where you connected it?
Pin 7 should be blank. The dsg only needs a few connections to work. Runs most of the systems off the fan network.
@@prestofixit3518 I am getting a code in VCDS under trans. P0726 RPM Signal from ECU. Assuming it’s because I don’t have anything connected there. Might be a little different as my vehicle is a 2015 Sportwagen but still had a 09G.
@@JacobCanale42 depending what dsg you got to replace it with most of them have the same wiring. It’s a can high and low wire, a switched and a constant 12v, a ground, Kline, and a shift interlock. That’s all I had to hook up for my transmission and it’s worked fine since.

I got a stage 2 tiguan right now. Thinking k04.. but you think an engine rebuild is needed for this? Was looking at an HPA Turbo.
I mean depends if you are already having problems and maintenance history on the vehicle. My car was neglected and behind on regular services. So not long after tuning it I had oil consumption problems and snapped a balance shaft. But if you are up to date on services you should be ok.
