Update: I now have a proof video showing gameplay for every encounter with other survivors and how I got past them here: ruclips.net/video/-Sz5E8R6gew/видео.html
I'm glad this video has blown up so much and people seem to enjoy it since I made it nearly two years ago! I've definitely learned a lot from making this video that I'll use in future challenges (Yes I am currently working on more challenges and listening to feedback from this video to improve those). I can definitely see now why some people disagree with me counting a few of these kills in my definition of what counts as a kill, but it sucks that there isn't a more objective way such as stats like in the first game (though spoiler: if you want to completely eliminate QTE kills it would still require 2 kills to beat the game). Hope you guys enjoyed this one and let me know what games you'd like to see me try challenges for in the future! :)
When I played, Ellie continued to revenge
amazing! I loved this video :)
Would mel not count as a double kill, or two since you technically killed to people
Hi
It's depressing seeing videos like this not getting the recognition they deserve.
Yeah all what I am seeing are Videos talking about the story either 10/10 Masterpiece or 0/10 hot Garbage
Like bruh the gameplay is So Good why is no one talking about it or making challenges 😭
@@solidhutyr1815 ikr 😢
@@solidhutyr1815 beause the video isn't skill just luck and restarts. and you can't actually beat the game without killing. everybody knows this
@@Brandon_Y. when did I ever say that you can beat the game without killing?
@@Brandon_Y.and actually yes You can
The only problem is that sometimes the Game forces you into Encounters Through Cutscenes
and then ellie turned to the camera and said “we truly are the Last Of Us… 2.” and everyone started clapping
And Abbie said "We are walking dead"
And then she last of us 2ed allover the place
i think she also said to dina something along the lines of "what are we...some kind of the last of us 2?"
@@chaaaargh i liked the part when Joel said “It’s Joelin time!” And Joel’d all over the place. Truly one of the moments of all time.
It’s last of us -ing time!
"Abby killing Joel happens in a cutscene... so it doesnt count"
Basically my cope
I only opened my eyes during the flashbacks, that's my cope
"TLOU2 isn't canon"
I like to think that this is somewhat canon, as most encounters can be solved by full stealth without killing enemies.
Kinda like metro 2033
pretty sure it’s been confirmed that ellie left seattle a ghost town
I think the TV show proved this in a way, at least for the first game
@@alfiewilson5482nope, Joel is confirmed to do things loud and violent, for people at least, from a voice line from Marlene.
My jaw dropped when you said it took you 5 hours to complete the school section.
You're VERY dedicated. Good on ya :)
Also, I'd argue that the Mel kill isn't on you/the player. The quick time event is ONLY for overpowering Mel. The stab happens in a regular animation.
Jordan counts cuz you actually press the button to kill him. For Mel, the quick time event stops after Ellie gets out of her grip.
That’s a good point. The Mel kill was probably the one that I was most unsure of. The first seraphite you kill as Abby is somewhat similar so I think you could make a case for both of them, but I chose to include them. Also yes the school section is insane. I got to the window at the end about 10 times and enemies kept coming, was a little frustrating.
@@epiccakesgaming you talking about the kinda boss fight?
The elementary school is a nightmare on grounded difficulty. I'm in awe of how you could get past it without any kills.
Man, I forgot how harrowing this story is. That fight at the end - both Ellie and Abby being SO worn down - and the scene that follows just left me so empty inside. Loved the vid tho
Yeah, even though the gameplay is so well done, I just haven't played the game a second time. The story is too depressing.
@@dudetheman3 Yep, pointlessly depressing, I would add. Nobody really gains anything; it's misery across the board.
@@shyboy2112 i mean that's the whole point of the game. i wish the message was delivered a bit better but the story is beautiful imo
@@shyboy2112 this story really impacted a lot of people. It just wasn’t for everyone and that’s ok. It’s one of my favorite games but it still has its flaws. Imo it was just too ambitious. I guess they cut out a bunch of stuff in the game because it was already long asf for a single player. I can fire up this game still and just play some encounters haha.
@@EJD339 I think most ppl who hate this game are too young and homophobic. They are always disrepectfull as shit and complaining about Ellie and Dina. And people who like it like you are very respectfull most of the time
Killing Mel in QuickTime does add one.
Two actually, she was pregnant
Very true
“Double homicide”
right well not really, as the fetus inside her wasn't a human yet so..
oof
Fetuses aren’t people yet. It’s 1.
You really became the last of us part 2
Comments like these fucking kill me and idk whyyy😂🤭😂
I'd argue that the QTEs aren't player controlled and therefore don't count. The characters force you to perform a certain action. That is not something you choose, therefore you did not actually kill them. The character did.
Also, we don't KNOW that Jesse's assailant is dead... he could just be lying on the ground, very much hurt lol XD
id agree. but to progress quick time events requires input from the controller(the player) whereas cutscenes simply don’t.
it’s jus like you said it “the characters force you to perform a certain action.” You’re still performing it, whereas in cutscenes, you simply watch.
So i think that’s the thinking used here
@@nathanltish I was going to agree with the original commenter until I realized that the video was about "how many enemies the game *forces you* to kill" so I get it. It's just tempting to think of avoiding any deaths by our own volition
This dude went through the same exact level for 5 hours straight like its nothing
Eastwood elementary was the hardest part of the game on Grounded for me. To do that with no kills…. On grounded. I can only tip my hat and say “Sir, I believe you are a masochist, but well done”!
Thank you! Eastwood was probably the single hardest part of the game in this playthrough from what I remember, but I also think in general it's tough just because the enemies are so aggressive in the first hallway and can be super unpredictable.
I replay this game on grounded here and there. That alone is hard enough, hats off to you for making it even more challenging lol
He kept saying “this part can be easily stealthed through” lol. I’ve done one grounded playthrough, attempting to stealth as much as possible, and let me tell you, most of those encounters are not easy to sneak by lol. Most of the ones that require you to hold triangle at a door I’ve always assumed are just impossible to pass without any kills.
@@mrskeltal931 yeah sometimes I just sneak past . On grounded you rarely have the resources to take on a whole squad of people or infected.
@@mrskeltal931 haha. I tried playing encounters on grounded and I can barely make it for a minute lol. This is one of my favorite games so I replayed it this weekend and I had the difficulty on all grounded except for resources which set to very light. I had so much fun with this play through.
Dude this is incredible! Especially considering killing is such a massive part of the game and its story, kinda, this is really impressive. Great video
Wow great vid man! Very informative and must have taken so many hours to complete! Hope this blows up!!
Thanks. I had roughly 25 hours of gameplay (with a lot of skipping cut scenes) but I'm happy with the end result!
and there goes the dumb " they make you kill hundreds of people and then you stop at the last one" argument haters used to say the game was shit
Yusss excellent challenge video! Bro ellie day 1 looked like a hell of a way to start the no kills run. Good on your for sticking through that
This actually sounds pretty fun I might do it. Make me feel a lot better instead of the guilt and shame I felt through my first play through. Also wanna play the story again. I loved it.
This is absolutely superb 👏👏👏 great work 🙌🙌 Deserves way more views
I dont think force kills counts. Kills should only count when you have alternative to progress
I disagree. I think quick time events and cut scenes shouldn’t count but the point of challenges is finding unique alternative ways.
I was actually just considering the viability of a pacifist run of the first game, seeing how many times areas can be completed by sneaking past enemies.
Amazing video! Love your narration style!
Great work dude, I was curious about this as it felt like the game sometimes was funneling me towards killing with the blocked doors at the ends of sections.
I would love to see a more detailed version of this kind of challenge in future, I think this was a really cool idea for a challenge run and I would love to know more about how you did it.
You’re in luck! Keep an eye out later today for a long video with every encounter in the game that shows how I got past them all.
Excellent video! Not only entertaining but a learning tool for developers and gamers alike.
Great video dude, so entertaining and informative. For the school section perhaps smoke bombs would work better too? Keep up the great work! I've subscribed for sure!
Interesting how Ellie has to kill more people than Abby (at least the ones the player can control)
holy shit man, good job. cant imagine actually trying this
Awesome work 👌🏻👏🏻 great video !
So interesting kind of gameplay rules , i was in love with" i am alive" a game where u could only make disuasion with empty ammo sometimes
Great video!! This was super fun to watch! Have you done this with part 1 yet? I would love to see that!
You deserve more subs these videos are very well made
Nice and underrated video. Really need more views!!
I absolutely love this dude!! You deserve soo much more recognition, underrated af! Do you think you'd post anymore in the future?
Or are you planning on posting anything?
Such an underrated channel, needs more recognition
No hate but you should leave more parts to the video. I was really looking forward to see you doing the gas station encounter. Had quite a struggle of my own :D
The minute you said after 5 hours i got past. I subbed no way that’s going unnoticed
That's an impressive number considering how easy it is to just be a murder hobo in this game. Congrats on the play through!
Good job man continue the good job
Your video was recommend by RUclips.
I love it.
i was just thinking the exact same thing a few days ago. great that theres a video on it. also, this isnt underated, its a masterpiece, earned a sub, and i dont sub often
Honestly this was so fascinating good on you and your dedication
I thought the beginning was going to be edited into: "I'm going to find and kill *none* of them"
You can technically shoot a human's leg grab them and let a clicker eat them. As the clicker would be the one killing them.
you indirectly caused the death so I guess it counts lol
Ah yes, the ludonarrative resonance playthrough
I did this and also got down to 6 kills minimum, plus 1 dog (sorry Alice) and plus 6 in cutscenes, however I have different criteria about who you technically kill. Realistically the true total is 13 kills. It’s also mentioned that Ellie kills a few Hunters on her way to Seattle and Santa Barbara if you want to include them
THIS VID IS SO WELL MADE HOW R U NOT FAMOUS
Man really said “what if we gave everyone the Abby treatment”
this was cool!!!! good job
Jesus. Impressive work!
Severely underviewed channel
good
job big man
The dog should count as at least 100 humans so you killed at least 106 humans.
Your Nora justification is really pushing it 😂
So underrated man
I feel like this is more of a "Can you beat The Last of Us part 2 MORALLY" 😂
You spend 5 hours on one level to avoid killing anyone, I spend 5 hours on one level because I suck. We are not the same.
So does that make the total kills between them technically 12 including cutscenes (and Nora offscreen)? Then you have to wonder how many Seraphites Abby killed before Ellie got to Seattle and how many people Ellie may have killed on her way there. She has a journal entry about a few hunters she took out, so a couple at least.
miss u king
I’m currently almost finished with the game, but when I decide to play again I will take one this challenge…or perhaps with another game like plague tale
How many kills do the companions get overall during this? It would be interesting to see numbers of most kills possible vs the least possible
Impressive!
The video was very entertaining but the amount of time this probably took you to complete this video compelled me to give you a like. Thank you for your sacrifice😁
PS: Shouldn't Mel's baby should count as 2 kills?
Mel just shooting the fuckin truck at 9:35 is pricless... not once but twice
That is about on par for how useful your allies are on grounded difficulty lol
Here one year late! Great video, you just got a new subscriber :) Hope you get back into making videos, I would love to see more of you!
Thank you! I definitely have had some ideas, just a matter of finding time to make them a reality (for context this video probably took ~40 hours or so for just the gameplay and another 8 to edit)
@@epiccakesgaming Totally understandable! Take your time!
The one thing I loved about cyberpunk is the choice you are given to kill or just incapacitate your enemies
this is so funny bc it felt like an abby vlog for a second after abby day 2
do more tlou2 content bro it slaps
11:33
You could have turned on "Allie's don't get grabbed" in settings
Cool Video! 🏆
This is definitive! Thanks! ...but, what about the WLF dude that jumps on your horse just before 13:24? What are your thoughts on him?
Good catch! Lev actually makes that kill if you don't press square and then Abby just pushes him away automatically so I didn't count that since I didn't actively press anything to kill that WLF.
@@epiccakesgaming How did you avoid the dogs that catch your scent?
@@shambhvilokre just gotta keep moving. if you get far away enough, they lose your scent
Impressive
I can not belive you can just smoke bomb your way through the rattler base. That part took me so long. Even with game play modifiers like the slow mo aiming
Yep that’s definitely a hard section of the game! I think on my first grounded playthrough it took at least an hour lol
This video makes me think of Nerbit - if he quit caffeine, got some therapy and stopped playing the same 4 games on repeat.
I never thought about it. But I guess Elle could’ve just beat Nora senseless & left her down there to become infected. 🤔
It's way more fucked up that way too. Ellie causes Nora to breathe spors then beats her silly to extract information and then leaves her there beaten and bloodied but still alive so she can turn. That's what u call a fate worse than death. Ice cold
I completely forgot about smoke bombs. I don't think I crafted any throughout my 33 hours playing. I just wanted to make the boom booms
If scripted events when you have control that force you to kill are counted, then the non controlled parts count too as they are also scripted.
Cool vid
Never noticed Ellie’s first human kill in Seattle is jordan
this is impressive
Thanks
I saw a vid on this on the first one and loved it and this was very well done 😂 did you get the idea from Dante ravioli on the first game?
Dante Ravioli’s TLOU videos are definitely an inspiration for my channel!
I figured it had to be lol but good work dude video was great wish I saw it sooner. Subbed
at the beginning of abby day 2 did you try a bottle/brick to lure them away?
ur sooo underrated
The rat king still gives me nightmares to this day. Took me way to long to beat it. 😂
Great vid. Question: is it not technically a glitch to fire on horseback without purposefully hitting anyone?
I would say no since that’s basically the same as just missing a shot and really just part of normal gameplay. I’d count a glitch to be more like skipping part of a level/breaking the game in some way (so if I somehow skipped the horseback part I’d count that as a glitch)
oh wow this better blow up
Maan I did this but on streams, and I absolutely lost them all 💔. My rules were about the same but I actually killed the least amount of infected too. That Abby forest part killed me lmao. I think my final kill count was 38. Amazing vid!
Thank you! Definitely interested to hear how you avoid killing most of the infected. Abby's part of the game must have been impossible lol.
You should try to do the last of us part1 with bow only
loved it
Super impressive work, only wish you bragged a bit more and shower us some footage of the toughest stealth sections
Thank you. I am currently compiling some clips of the hardest encounters I made it through as a sort of “proof” video so keep an eye out for that video very soon!
Dogs count as at least 2 hoomans.
Damn, impressive. How much longer than a normal playthrough did this take? Or was it shorter than normal?
It was much longer than a normal playthrough because of the combat sections. The school took about 5 hours for me personally compared to about 10 minutes on a normal playthrough. The seraphite forest section, seraphite cargo area and the skyscraper as Abby also took over an hour each just cuz stealth is so much harder without killing. I enjoyed it but because I had to come up with new strategies so it added somewhere from like 7-10 hours to my playtime.
impressive
wow... this is really under rated.
finally, a video that doesn't start with: The Last of Us 2 Is bad". Thank you.
I spend most of my game time stealthing everything because I’m so bad at shooting lol
At least it makes the ending make a little more sense
Thanks for the video! Can you do the same in the part I ?
