“Boer” means farmer, and “boel” is a shortening of “boelhond,” which means “bulldog”. So it’s basically means “farmer bulldog.” Farmers in colonial South Africa liked to crossbreed mastiffs and bulldogs to form a breed that could protect their farms and be used as hunting dogs. What we know today as the boerboel was only formally bred beginning in the 1950s.

That is really nice to see the puppies start the lifetime grooming care needed over their lifetimes.
Yes is good are bathed/ groomed early,, I don't want to be wrestling with a 200 pounder, refusing to be bathed, & nails clipped !!
I know that you're serious and genuine when talking about how dangerous they can be but it's so hilarious to hear that voice-over of these adorable little babies
Those little kisses at the end just killed me.
SOOOOO adorable!! 😍😍😍
I'm glad to see this. I love Boerboels. They're amazing, impressive beings. Imagine being bred to defend your territory from lions, hyenas and leopards. These dogs are not for the faint of heart.
We didn’t know of this breed until we dna tested our adopted dog. She is 40% boerboel. Very, very good natured, yet powerful.
I live in South Africa and know this breed very well. My friend has a young male called Duke. He is almost as big as a young calf, but has the most gentle personality. However, he is a fierce protector of his family. They are not aggressive dogs, but protectors.
Those... _faces!_ And those... _BIG paws!_ *SOOO* _CUTE!_ I just _can't_ ...
Wow they are rolly polly and absolutely adorable!
That was incredibly funny when burnt toast apologized to you.😂
Seeing these babies warms my heart. Pets are always fun and lovely to have around. They are so adorable. Do you have any pets?
They took that grooming amazingly well. Hope to see more of them as they grow.
I love that they're going to turn into these giant fierce dogs that could take down a leopard, and have names like Loaf and Burnt Toast
I can’t even tell you how many people I have known that got puppies simply bc they were cute or bc they saw them in a movie. So thank you so much for educating potential buyers of puppies what they’re truly getting! I realize that breeders who sell puppies to people without a through interview is not a good breeder, so thank you for all that you do!!!! Much love from us in Oklahoma!!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
They are one of breeds on dangerous dog list,
Top being pitbull types, Rottw,
Akita Chow, GS dobie. husky, & not as well known breeds, Jap Tosa, Rus Ovacharka, Fila Bras. , Presa Can,
UK bans boers, with all pit type dogs
@@Memow-pk1ng No it doesn't.
Your videos bring so many breeds to light that I didn’t even know existed. Thanks
Just watched Johnny getting his bath. I hope these turn out to be the same sort of oversized sweetheart. 💖💖💖
Totally adorable little pups 💜🐕💜
Precious.🐾❤ Bless whomever welcomes one of these pups into their family that they raise them with love, care and trained responsibility. Gorgeous dogs!
I love how small and cute they are, especially when hearing about the ginormous Hulk beasts they will become.
Wow, it was great to see their massive dad being groomed. Thanks for including the link to this video. The puppies are so adorable!!
As a South African, I love the way you say “boerboel” 😂
Could you tell us more about the origin of the word? Does it mean as much as farmer's bull?
“Boer” means farmer, and “boel” is a shortening of “boelhond,” which means “bulldog”. So it’s basically means “farmer bulldog.” Farmers in colonial South Africa liked to crossbreed mastiffs and bulldogs to form a breed that could protect their farms and be used as hunting dogs. What we know today as the boerboel was only formally bred beginning in the 1950s.
@@Arxane I read this in the voice of the guy that announces Westminster
I always get a kick out of the way people pronounce Boerboel😊 I had a brittish fellow almost tongue-tied trying to pronounce it the afrikaner way.
@@jessipeculiar I had never heard of that breed, but, know the breed Mastiff. Mastiff is easier to say, I bet.
Look at the huge paws on those sweet little chonkers.
I love your litter grooming videos! I helped a lot with the litter my youngest dog came from and trying to bathe 7 Aussie puppies at the same time was on par with herding cats 😂
Aw, that's funny that you think cats can be herded - lol. Having two can be a real handful sometimes, especially when they need to go to the v-e-t. (I totally love your comment, btw - no shade being thrown here!) 😁❤️🐾
@@lisamelroy2855 We had an Aussie who loved to ty herding our three cats. All the cats ever waneted from him was ear cleaning 😄
@@bachynskylisa1 Hahaha! Yep, that sounds about right! ❤️🐾
@@lisamelroy2855 no worries! My cat Alice's favorite thing to do is wander about my mom's house and find bizarre places to get stuck, then scream 😂 I've got 2 Aussies (brought momma home unexpectedly a couple months after I got one of her puppies) that were eternally frustrated that they couldn't keep my mom's cats in one spot. They ended up being much more successful rounding up my niblings lol
@@bachynskylisa1 my grandfather and I bred Border Collies. They would herd anything, including our farm cats. The cats were not impressed with their herding abilities, although Mama Cat played along (if she was in the mood).
Neighbours of mine have a young adult Boerboel. We've become very good friends, because she's adorable, but has zero understanding of her size and weight.
Loaf stole my heart omg that squishy face and giants paws 😭💕
Boerboels are extremely loving and energetic. Their puppies are a force to be reckoned with
How can you not give kisses to those adorable bundles? So cute!
Seeing these babies warms my heart. I’m originally from South Africa.
They’re an amazing breed. 🐾💕
They are all going to be big but Loaf is going to be on the big side of big. Seeing his paw as a puppy being only slightly smaller than your hand tells me he is definitely going to be pushing the 200lb mark. Great video as always!
Loaf was my favorite here ❤
@@littleredhen8205 Same! There is also something really adorable about a giant breed puppy named Loaf.
I love how their little faces scrunch up with the happy hoodie! Crinkly
So much respect for anyone that can look at those faces and be a patient and consistent trainer. My hat to you! I know my lane and never could I have something that adorable.
I’d be exactly the same ❤ I have two grown up daughters who were really well behaved as kids. I like to think I was kind, firm, patient and consistent but I’d be a marshmallow with a puppy like this 😂
@@tallisinwonderland4724 some have called them pitbulls on steroids, no u don't want be mushy, but firm, & start obediance training early, before reach 200 lbs. & be unmanageable !!
They are WAY more behaved than adult huskies when cutting their nails!
Look at them all, I'd die for them all!
Such cuteness!! They're all so adorable. I met a beautiful boreboel, Bella, at the vet, she was so gentle with my Frenchie who was quite convinced Bella would be her best buddy.
The boerboel is such an amazing breed, definitely needs an experienced owner. They can be such loving companions and fierce family protectors. I miss my Kiara everyday❤ she and our Rottweiler were inseparable and together they were the funniest goofballs with their antics.
My brother had a boerboel named Dino- short for Dinosaur. Big,ferocious, protector of the farm but also a lovable, goofy, lapdog.
Powerful dog...but for now, absolutely adorable!
I can't even imagine trying to find 15 families qualified to own one of these. I've handled them in boarding situations and as a trainer. They are the type of dog you watch your body language with.
Thank you so much for sharing these adorable puppers. Little chocolate chunked was my favorite
I've never heard of this breed but they are the cutest! So chonky! 🥰🥰🥰
hope the breeder makes sure that each end up in good homes
15 pups? I’d loved to see mama. She’s got her paws full. I almost inhaled my soda when you said 15.
How adorable are these guys? Very! So sweet, even the one who bit you Burn Toast tried to say I'm sorry by giving you lots of kisses and hugs. Too damn cute!!
I have died and gone to heaven this morning with both videos. I can’t handle the cuteness overload. Thanks again for sharing a new breed. I look forward to seeing the sire.❤
I have a mix of this breed in my big guy, he’s 152 pounds, 6 years old and eats 5 pounds of food a day. And is one of best dogs we ever had.
Loaf is a chunk!!! Them big ol paws 🥰🥰🥰
I've seen plenty of puppy litters come named as a set (and dogs in general...see my mum's twin labradors, Dolce and Gabanna), but this was _hilarious._ Love that you started by introducing the one with the most name-like of names, since Madeline can be an ordinary name _or_ a delightful little biscuit, and slowly but surely worked your way up to the absurdity that is Burnt Toast. They're adorable, but I admit that I adored Loaf the most. He's just so inquisitive, having to sniff the nail clippers and the spray bottle, and curious doggos amuse me.
i've noticed she lets dogs sniff those things sometimes, presumably to help them get accustomed to them
@@CorvusCorone68 Oh, that's definitely a thing, yeah. Loaf just seemed super actively curious about the things being presented, rather than unsure, like many of the very sniff-y dogs. There was a very inquisitive sense of "Ooh, what's this thing? Does it do something? Is it edible?" going on that was just cute as heck.
Oh my gosh, 15 of these adorable puppies? That’s a lot of cuteness and a lot of puppy!
You can see by the size of their paws at 8 weeks, these are big breeds.
Really awesome seeing a South African breed on your channel. They are incredibly powerful dogs, and need a lot of work to train and socialize. Cant wait to see when you groom the sire.
They are absolutely gorgeous, adorable little TANKS!!!! You see the potential power in them even at that young age. The little spunky black one is my fav!!!
