What the Imperium needs is a device that can jam the Warp so that the 'Nids cannot communicate. Bonus effect: Chaos is also discombobulated. Turn it on when the 'Nids arrive, turn it off when the synapse bioforms are destroyed. The Hivemind never learns how they were beaten.
Remember most units on the table top are not true scale to each other; the practicalities of table top unit size on a limited table top surface. This orbital gun is just a platform mounted Sun Fury Plasma Annihilator.
@@gorganhorn6872 its not the same, it works the same and looks the same but on a larger scale. you can compare it between the plasma cannon on a knight valiant and the plasma cannon on the mechanicus kataphron destroyers exact same looking plasmacannon but different size of course. you can also see it in the size difference in volcano cannons between a reaver and warlord class(same looking but heavier version) so can you see the difference between lascannons, those mounted on vehicles are bigger than the spacemarine portable ones, and the firestorm redoubt AA ones(you can also see those in the game are much bigger than the ones on vehicles.) same as with the autocannons those on weaponteams are way smaller than the hydra flak tank or marauder bomber variant yet workings are the same. bolter heavy bolter avenger boltcannon vulcan mega bolter etc all kinds and calibers yet the workings stay the same, rocketpropelled projectiles with exploding warheads. the true scale problem is not a scale problem its a writers and artists problem and fandom interpretation problem. and fanboys like us are discussing this but its pretty pointless because it works in the same way as the difference in our world 5,56mm xm214 microgun 7,62mm m134 minigun .50cal gau19 gecal 50 20mm a61 vulcan, 25mm gau12 equilizer 30mm gau8 avenger and with chainguns this works the same way of course, from 22lr all the way up to the 50mm bushmaster the plasmacannons shown here are normally mounted on starships or imperator class titans (or a rare ordinatus vehicle) so king and zachary are both correct.

Three Warlord Titans in an Extergimus Maniple can bring down a 7 Kilometer cruiser from Orbit. God Machines can be seen kilometers away on the distant horizon. Each step shaking the very ground. Titans can shift millions of tons of soil at Will creating makeshift valleys . Titan weapons can fire shells as large as Battle tanks. You need to get away from those ridiculous stats. By the same token in the Horus Heresy Trailer animation you can see a ship easily incinerating a Warlord titan in a single blast, the plasma beam being as big as the titan itself. As i said, i don't like that number either, but it's the currently best supported one. Especially when compared to the sizes of other superheavy vehicles and trying to keep it consistent. i'd be happy to double the size, but it's nowhere near what it'd have to be to carry that capital ship size gun of that animation on each arm. E.g. Ordinatus Armageddon is undoubtedly much bigger than a warlord titan. It can oneshot even the biggest class of titans. Yet the weapon that it carries is explicity just a single plasma cannon of the size that otherwise is used on capital ships.

They basically consume the entire biomass of planets just for some minor refueling. Even this game is not able the show the scale of a hive fleet invasion, which os basically billions of ships this size orbiting the planet and overwhelming every possible defence.
in fairness, they do describe it as a 'minor splinter fleet'; so those having only a handfull of true bioships on that scale are more believeable. but yes, they didn't fight off the fleet, merely delayed it some.
I always wonder why missiles and in general self-propelled, guided munition is so rare in the 40k universe. I mean, I get it: modern warfare with its long stand-off distances and over-the-horizon killing capabilities might look boring to the average 40k player, but it would be nice to have an in-universe explanation.
It's primarily the ban on the more advanced computers necessary for the smart munition I imagine. That being said missiles very much exist and are used. There are the massive naval torpedoes or missile artillery like Space Marine Whirlwinds. Both Titans and Space Marine Terminators can be equipped with missile pods. Using missiles against Hiveships is probably a bad idea because they'd just put a whole bunch of small flying bioforms in the missiles' way, detonating them prematurely. It's better to hit them with big energy weapons that will just burn through the smaller creatures.

dawn of war 3 i think the second campaign mission the ork had a gun like this and they have to re-fire it cause when you fire it at first it pop fireworks and stuff..the ork version of this is alot better.
