    I am a 76-year-old Belgian who has been passionate about photography for 56 years. I've been using Fujifilm since 2013 (X-E1, X-T2) and recently switched all my Nikon gear to Fuji (X-T4 and I'm keeping my X-T2!).
    All that to say that I love your videos and that I really appreciate your clarity and your humor! I am one of your real followers. Congratulations on your work.

    You touched my heart again. As I told you once, I never let me have that kind of time with my kids. I was just too busy and now they are adults and I lost the opportunity.
    I am so glad you are doing the right thing. I don't believe in the afterlife but if there is one, and your father is watching you, I'm sure he is absolutely proud of you. Have a wonderful weekend!!!

    how on earth can people give any video a thumb down, it amazes me, someone like yourself who goes out of his way to way to upload great informative content, yet people will still leave a negative reaction. All you videos are great, funny to watch a video and go, got that, got that, lol, I have to say the F2.8 fuji lens is absolutely my favourite lens, the kit lens is good, but the F2.8 one is just out of the world. The G7X is also a good camera, I bought it years ago as my wife hates messing about with SLR type camera's, the photos you get from it are great photos "holiday snaps", its only when you compare them to say a XT3 with 56 F1.2 you see there is a BIG difference. Right I'm waffling on lol, Love your Channel Thanks for everything you upload Derek UK

    • @don7117

      It gets a thumbs down because he doesn't follow his own advice, and doesn't even use the features of the bag correctly. Terrible advice.

    • @DerekComer

      @@don7117 I just don’t give anyone a thumbs down. Even if the video is rubbish. I just think if people have took time to upload something then they can have a 👍 from me lol. But hay each to their own. Enjoy your weekend

    • @don7117
      @don7117 2 месяца назад +1

      @@DerekComer Fair enough. I agree its a lot of work, and most of the time we simply get to sit back and benefit from their efforts. But I think there is some expectation and responsibility that the video is accurate and honest. Especially for people who may not have a lot of experience and are looking for guidance or advice. If someone is going through the trouble of making and posting a video, they should take the time to make it relevant and accurate. In those cases, I always give a thumbs up and post a comment to 'help the algorithm '. Thanks for the reply. Hope you have a wonderful day.

    What I pack from now on is only my x100v, and I place it in my lens protector cover. It’s perfect for the family. I bring out the godox 685 flash and a trigger from time to time. The leaf shutter is stupid good, super silent and the sync speed can go up to 4000. Most important is the kids don’t care if I’m snapping photos of them because it’s so small and quiet.

    Beautiful intro! A variation on Tip #6 I've heard is that the gear should be like a musical instrument. It starts out as an unfamiliar tool, but eventually you forget about the tool and just make music. I try to decide before heading out if I want to get better at new tools / techniques, or use tools I'm comfortable enough with and just make music.

I don’t do video but now I may bring along my gopro 8 with my camera. I have been trying to go more minimalist with my gear and make kits depending on what I intend to do. You make a great case for the 16-55mm lens but I also will change up with the 10-24mm/33mm f1.4. I only have the X-S10 right now but may get an X-E3 later on as a backup.

    I have the ProTactic 450 as well. The storage is great, yes, but as you mentioned, it's not just about the gear. The comfort is an issue for more than 30 minutes of hiking due to the minimal hip belt which does not transfer to hips as do many packs designed by backpacking gear companies. If you are shooting from a car it works fine, but unfortunately, so many photo bag companies don't specialize in kinetic ergonomics. Therefore, I sought out the Shimoda Action S50 which was designed for hiking, is extremely comfortable and has much more packing capacity. Their hip-belt has a split design which maintains body contact to the legs for all-day comfort. It's larger than the 450, but it is considered a carry-on for most airlines.

    • @pal2tech
      @pal2tech  3 года назад

      Interesting. I've not seen that one but agree the split design would be important. Will check out. Thanks!

    Very nice and informative video as always; I was moved by the time lapse of you with your son.
    I've became so minimalistic over time that now when traveling on vacation I only carry with me one camera, the 18-55 and the 55-200, plus one light tripod and an extra battery; I try to be as light as possible when traveling abroad because I use public transport, get into cramped spaces and walk a lot, so every inch and ounce counts. I don't do video, so I don't need gear for that.

    Your last part about the gear and essentially "enjoying your trip" is very important. And even if you're not traveling with family, unless your objective is commercial work (ie. your shooting for a client or your shooting so you can get more photos for prints) don't let the gear get in the way. This is why I typically travel with a single lens (a travel zoom) and one camera body when I'm with family (this is not to say I won't bring other gear, but if we are at a park or at the beach, I only bring one camera and one lens during those times during the trip....) At the same time, this is where I think P&S cameras like the Sony RX100 VI and VII are valuable. It's one camera, fits in your pocket, and is very versatile (but expensive). But it's one camera. Don't have to worry about lenses or camera bodies. One of those, plus a few batteries and memory cards is all you would need if you just wanted something pocketable for when on vacation with family (you can still have your other gear with you on the trip, but the tiny P&S cameras are valuable if say you're walking around on the town, or at dinner or whatever, because they're small, and also some venues will likely let you use them because they are not considered "pro" cameras).

    Chris, a small table top tripod I found and love w/ my X-T4 is the Leofoto MT-03. It's small yet remarkably sturdy. It can lay nearly flat, or extend the aluminum legs to raise it up a bit. When I travel, the tripods I take are the Leofoto and my Peak Design carbon fiber travel tripod...they do it all. And I love my 16-55... best all around lens

For me I just bring either my kit lens 16-50, a 35mm wide lens, one camera body, osmo action, a power brick, memory cards, a blaster and some microfiber cloth, lastly a tripod. Although I never miss out on anything my partner says. I always choose to create memories than shots.

    After intro: aha, he meant everything including drone, tripod, microphone ... now I expect minivan.
    Drone photo tips will be appreciated, I found it more useful for video and with limitations and reliability of Mavic Mini 1 it's usually flying straight up in limited space (I already once had to recover it behind electric fence with cows, cause it lost power likely due to frost and/or warped propellers - hopefully fence was likely unpowered and cows were far).
