I ordered one in Feb2021. First time buying a vehicle that wasn't sitting in the lot. Still waiting for it :(. But I'm super excited. I went in aiming for the V8 5.0 or even a super duty 7.3 and was like "Hybrid... bah". After I tried every engine, I said "well can't skimp and not try them all" and tried the Powerboost. I was blown away with the performance. When I was pulling out of the dealer for a test run, being able to move it on battery only was cool, not sure how long it can go on battery only before the gas kicks in. If that electric engine is a foreshadowing of what the electric f150 is going to be like, things will be exciting. Hopefully they can get a 500 range capacity. The price point was a hit, but the way I look at it and eventually reasoned to myself, this will probably be the last gas vehicle I'm going to buy. Like you said, has space everywhere (for a family), the work table in the console and the bed, good tow rating, 7200 W inverter was a big +, I look forward to using power tools for working on things away from a house outlet. I hope the batteries will last a while and if not will be replaceable fairly easily. Hopefully they don't go down the road of being proprietary like Tesla. I also hope the Turbos last. I was seeing some people installing a oil separator / catch can so oil particles don't get fed back into the intake. Sounds like it shouldn't be too big of an issue with port and direct injection. Final thoughts, I feel Ford went out on a limb to push the envelope trying to give the best of all worlds (Gas - Turbo - Electric - Tech - Function) in this model and succeeded. Time will tell if it holds up over time like other models.
With 96k miles on my 2021 Powerboost it has been very reliable truck. Only issues was a rear seal leak and a transmission sensor failure both were covered under warranty. I would purchase another Powerboost today.
I have been designing a Ford Transit AWD Cargo Van CONVERSION to a Overland Rig for the last 18 months. All my hard work got thrown out the window when I learned of the F150 Powerboost option of 7.2Kw generator. I can only own one vehicle and I am willing to give up a tall roof van that I can stand up in , and a lot of storage space and interior capability a van gives you ; for the ability to run my New England residence during a power outage ( snow or ice storm ) or go cross country traveling and and sleep in a tent yet be able to power virtually any electric device I carry with me or I walk into a Walmart and purchase while on the road ( space heater , refrig , slow cooker , chain saw , air compressor etc etc etc ) An AWD van conversion may be a better place to sleep while on the road , put the capabilities / potential of a 7.2Kw generator on the road are ENDLESS imo
I had a dream of converting a Transit too but I must admit the idea of having a slide-in camper makes more sense. First thing being that if for a reason your engine blows up or anything major, you're not gonna lose the investment that you put in the back of your van. You just put the camper on another truck! Now with a truck like that it makes even more sense! The lightning could be cool too but I don't think the range is enough for what I plan to do like camping in the rockies in the middle of winter...
I traded my 2018 Raptor in on a new Platinum power boost. I went through the same line of reasoning as you did. After 32000 miles I never took it off road. Beside the Raptor being super kool, the new power boost Platinum has a lot more to offer for the same price.
Hey - so I’m curious, have you gone Offroad yet with Powerboost? I’m considering it over the Raptor as well for many of the reasons stated in the video….has it been for you?
@@Daniel-ux8tx The Power Boost is very capable off road. The Raptor can go over rougher terrain because it is taller and comes with more egressive tires. The 80% rule says you should buy for your 80% use I used the 80% rule to replace my Raptor with the Platinum Power Boost. I was having issues with my truck and Ford allowed this under the lemon law buy back program. Good video. Worth the watch. A couple Pro Power Onboard questions. Can you run the Power Onboard without turning the engine over, or must the engine be on and running? And if so, for how long? In your example, full tank of gas, full 7.2 kwh, 32 hours of electric use, does that mean there will be no more gas left? I'm wondering about the trade off, if I'm out overlanding well away from a gas station, I'd hate to use so much gas that I can't get back to fill up? Oh, and how long could the battery run if fully charged but no more gas in the tank, or could it? Other related to this? Thanks.

Thanks for watching
This may sound goofe .. But the steering wheel looks dated .. Yes the truck is awesome. Love the power Gen! Since I'm into boone-docking Hopefully they bring out a plug-in hybrid. Giving you at least 20 free miles under normal conditions. But when driving the steering wheel is a big thing for me! And for the money i'm paying today i would like a badass steering wheel! Like in the 2020 steering or the 250 version! OK Ok yes I would probably buy it ; due to the Gen.. I turn it monochromatic
Really dude? The steering wheel??
If reliability were better, think this would be a great option. I want something super reliable only take 2 big trips a year and if it breaks down during those 2 weeks it’s going to be a huge disappointment. However, 500 miles on a tank is super compelling.
It may be reliable, but I don't know enough about this new powertrain yet. To me it seems like the trans will be the first failure point. The way this thing CLUNKS into 2nd and 3rd under 50-60% load is unbearable
You seriously think “overlanding” is the most overused term of 2020? Not say … pandemic? Maybe?
“Unprecedented” 😂
@@dwnshft “fraud” was pretty big too! 😵💫
A lot of lies in this
Wow, you lost all credibility by saying a Toyota would be more reliable...Toyota, the most recalled auto manufacturer in the country...
