Reminds me of a table my son made for his final school project, all the material was reclaimed from outdoor garden sets, an old dining table, some hard wood decking. He laminated the a top offset to 30 degrees, the CNC routered a square out of the centre, the made a backgammon and chess board glued face to face that would fit into the cut away. He designed and build a hidden lever that fit between two sliding draws to lift the centre section, therefore you could have the original laminate pattern, chess or backgammon or and additional piece that had glass designed to hold a photo. I love designs that make the most of the available space.
