  • The Batman Who Laughs is enacting a sinister plan across the Multiverse -- something both terrifying and oddly familiar. When Bruce Wayne realizes the only way to stop this madman is to kill him, he must consider violating the very rule Batman can't ever break... the rule that created the Batman Who Laughs! As Bruce begins to realize that all the mistakes he's made are somehow connected, the Batman Who Laughs unleashes a brand new evil. Enter one of the most punishing Batmen of the Dark Multiverse: the Grim Knight!
    ▸ Who Is Batman: Batman is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and debuted in the 27th issue of the comic book Detective Comics on March 30, 1939. In the DC Universe continuity, Batman is the alias of Bruce Wayne, a wealthy American playboy, philanthropist, and industrialist who resides in Gotham City. Batman's origin story features him swearing vengeance against criminals after witnessing the murder of his parents Thomas and Martha as a child, a vendetta tempered with the ideal of justice. He trains himself physically and intellectually, crafts a bat-inspired persona, and monitors the Gotham streets at night. Kane, Finger, and other creators accompanied Batman with supporting characters, including his sidekicks Robin and Batgirl; allies Alfred Pennyworth, James Gordon, and Catwoman; and foes such as the Penguin, the Riddler, Two-Face, and his archenemy, the Joker.
    Kane conceived Batman in early 1939 to capitalize on the popularity of DC's Superman; although Kane frequently claimed sole creation credit, Finger substantially developed the concept from a generic superhero into something more bat-like. The character received his own spin-off publication, Batman, in 1940. Batman was originally introduced as a ruthless vigilante who frequently killed or maimed criminals, but evolved into a character with a stringent moral code and strong sense of justice. Unlike most superheroes, Batman does not possess any superpowers, instead relying on his intellect, fighting skills, and wealth. The 1960s Batman television series used a camp aesthetic, which continued to be associated with the character for years after the show ended. Various creators worked to return the character to his darker roots in the 1970s and 1980s, culminating with the 1986 miniseries The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller.
    DC has featured Batman in many comic books, including comics published under its imprints such as Vertigo and Black Label. The longest-running Batman comic, Detective Comics, is the longest-running comic book in the United States. Batman is frequently depicted alongside other DC superheroes, such as Superman and Wonder Woman, as a member of organizations such as the Justice League and the Outsiders. In addition to Bruce Wayne, other characters have taken on the Batman persona on different occasions, such as Jean-Paul Valley / Azrael in the 1993-1994 "Knightfall" story arc; Dick Grayson, the first Robin, from 2009 to 2011; and Jace Fox, son of Wayne's ally Lucius, as of 2021. DC has also published comics featuring alternate versions of Batman, including the incarnation seen in The Dark Knight Returns and its successors, the incarnation from the Flashpoint (2011) event, and numerous interpretations from Elseworlds stories.

    Hey Rob, I have an excellent idea for why Gordon overpowers Bruce.
    It's because this Batman used GUNS. Thusly he was more reliant on firearms than his usual martial arts training. Sure Batman was still profecient at hand to hand combat but he had grown over reliant on guns, they made him effective but weak. That PLUS Gordon's prep time is why this Bruce Wayne fell so easily in combat.
    I think this is great because it would feed back into the whole Batman With/Without Guns and his morality on the subject.

    • @SpaceLordLono
      @SpaceLordLono 5 лет назад +33

      This. Combined with the fact this Batman hasn't been repeadly tested by enemies like Joker, he's far far weaker by the pure fact he lacks the experinces of mainstream universe Batman. The batman that doesn't kill has to work harder to win, batman that kills is playing on easy mode.

    • @davidlewis5312
      @davidlewis5312 4 года назад +5

      I will go one further, its what Gordon calls him out on. The Grim Knight doesn't believe in anything. That's what makes him weak. Because what do you have to rely on to call upon if you believe in nothing. Even who Laughs believes in something, twisted and wretched as it is. Even Murder Machine, Devastator, Drowned, Red Death believed in something. Even Merciless believed in something at least once. But Grim Knight, he believes in nothing. Not even really himself.

    Thought for Gordon getting the upper hand. The Dark Knight has MASTERED basically every martial art known to man and become the world’s greatest detective. The Grim Knight has become proficient in basically every martial art, mastered lethal weapon usage, and become the world’s greatest EXECUTIONER.
    Basically, Dark Knight is prepared to play offense AND defense, while Grim Knight has focused almost only on Offense, so it’s easier for others like Gordon to, through numbers, tech, or planning, come at him with a better Offense than he has Defense for.

    7:40 I know it's uncouth to drop other channels' theories in the comments, but... Dopespill had the best explanation for this I've heard. Basically, he assumes that the Grim Knight isn't as well trained in hand-to-hand combat as the Dark Knight is, because he never had to hone those skills. He's always relied on firearms to get the job done, so martial arts are probably not his strongest asset. Gordon, however, probably had tactical training, and should at least know how to handle himself in a basic street brawl. He was a beat cop for quite a while, after all.
    [Edit] 8:00 Ah, I see you come to basically the same conclusion. Neat!

    This is the genius of the Dark Multiverse. A Joker Batman would absolutely use peoples more base desires as a means to carry out his own agenda(s). The neat thing about the Grim Knight is that while he can be steered by the Batman Who Laughs, depending on how Punisher-like they make him, he is still a wild card. He could fly off the rails and kill Gordon now, go and shoot Babs in the gut, torture Alfred for info on Daimen. Who knows.
    I would love to see a Dark Multiverse on more or less exact parodies of the Avengers. Just for the heck of it. I want to see the other dark characters like superman or or wonderwoman.
    But what I really want most is a dark Dr. Fate batman and a dark Plasticman batman.

    7:52 I would posit that the fact that this batman uses guns and traps like rewiring Waynetech means he has spent his time focusing on being the best sniper and other deadly long range tactics. He's never considered being nonlethal and therefore never prioritized up close combat the way our Batman did. So he's not the expert at hand to hand other versions of him are.

    I think why Gordon beat Bruce, is based on Bruce's use of weaponry. Instead of getting years of practice in hand to hand with criminals, he was killing them with guns. So while he has training with martial arts it isn't his primary tactic anymore. So in hand to hand, Gordon and Bruce have the same or similar experience. Then the prep time for Gordon is the advantageous edge.

    The only reason why Batman doesn't use guns or kill the bad guys or not save them at least. It is because Writers wanted him to have a Rogue Gallery. It is kind of hard to have one if he kills every mob boss or supervillain you come across once you 'catch' them.

  • @funnyblog100
    @funnyblog100 5 лет назад

    I think commissioner Gordon was able to win because the grim knight is less skilled than our Batman. He is an expert in ranged combat but due to his use of lethal force and training with guns he is less skilled when it comes to close quarters fighting. It takes a lot more skill to take someone out non-lethally and ensure you don't die in the process. His reliance on ranged weapons became his downfall here. It is likely the Grim Knight didn't do much close quarters fighting because he could just point and shoot someone from a distance or control their tech and cause breaks to fail or something. He relied too much on it.

    Hey rob so I've been having some interesting thoughts about how endgame is going to go down and I think I thought of a pretty solid theory hope you comment on it. I think the main avengers and the heros who are left will use ant mans quantum realm tech along with tony starks tech to enter the quantum realm and go back in time as weve already been told the quantum realm contains time elements. The heroes go back theres a big battle to try and kill thanos many heros die in the process but eventually they succeed and one of the heros most likely iron man gets ahold of the infinity gauntlet and attempts to bring the universive back to normal. At this point the living tribunal intervenes and explains that by going back in time and trying to reset the universive the avengers had essentially either broken time and reality or created a new one. The tribunal solves this by restoring the universe to how it should be before thanos snap but he keeps the heros who died after the snap in the battle with thanos dead. This allows the main avengers to go off with a meaningful sendoff and allows the new guys, spider man black panther dr strange etc to take the rains. Dr strange predicted this which is why he told tony he was sorry he knew the only way to save the universe would be for the main avengers to sacrifice themselves. This way you can also work in the x men and other marvel characters by saying as a result of the living tribunal stepping in and restoring the universe to how it should be he somehow allowed mutants to come to be. Love your channel bro been watching your videos for a long time hope you let me know what you think

    it's cuz the grim knight relies so much more on weapons and fire arms rather than hand to hand combat, hence why he reached for his gun when trying to counter and attack gordon

    What's interesting here is that, Grim Knight has killed good people, he threatened Alfred's life and has killed cops. Frank Castle would never do that, however. He want's nothing more than to kill evil but not if it means killing innocents that get in his way, he always finds a way around that. So in that sense, Grim Knight is even worse than Punisher. Frank Castle wouldn't care about revenge against a cop who is just doing what he thought was right. Frank ONLY cares about revenge if you've harmed someone that he has come to care about, and even then it's not a main motive. Frank kills because it's justice to him (and also because he enjoys his on going war), Grim Knight kills as a means to an end. Which is probably why I felt different about Grim Knight the I do about Punisher.

    I am loving this new grim knight Batman, but how did Gordon beat Bruce Wayne in hand to hand combat? I know Gordon is used to “taking out green berets” but still! It doesn’t matter how prepared Gordon was, it was a straight up hand to hand fight and Gordon beats Bruce down? I dunno.....🤔ANYways, keep up the great work Rob!😁👍

    • @Malthizar
      @Malthizar 5 лет назад

      There's a couple reasons but it basically is because Bruce doesn't kill innocent people and the jig was already up. He'd already been raided and lost all his stuff and was surrounded by SWAT teams. The only way for him to have won the altercation would have been to kill everyone there and Grim Knight doesn't kill innocent people.

    Here's the thing about Martial Arts in real life, and this is speaking from experience. It doesn't matter how much you've trained how fast you are or how good your technique is. In a fight, it only matters if you're in the same weight class, who wants it more and who's better in that instant where desire, instinct, decision, action, and reaction determines who wins. Its a very short instant. So I can buy that Gordon took out the Bat in that instant when he knows that he has him, in preparation and surprise. That moment when adrenaline flows free and you can taste that moment that you own this fool in front of you. Folks tend to forget Batman is just a man, just like Jim Gordon is. So I can buy that a man beat up another man. Comic book or not.

    I'm hoping that the Grim Knight let him win. Because otherwise that means if Grim knight meets OG Batman and he loses his guns, then its gonna take .5 seconds for Batman to put him down.

    If say grim knight shouldn’t be as good as a fighter as main universe Batman because he killed the competition he doesn’t have as much experience, he just shot the gun and eliminated his enemies.

  • @tattltal

    Bruce Wayne is an effective hand to hand combatant in the universe where he doesn’t use guns. This one does and probably doesn’t focus his attention on hand to hand combat. If he was competent as a hand to hand combatant, he wouldn’t have been so dependent that he pulls a gun on Jim in the first place.
