The first time that Aberforth is mentioned is actually when Dumbledore is talking to Hagrid about being half-giant. He talks about how his brother was caught "charming goats".
And that he doesn't think aberforth can read
One of my favorite lines in the books. Lol
Yes, wouldn't that be Prisoner of Azkaban? After Buckbeak attacks Malfoy and Hagrid is hiding out in his cabin.
Oh, NM, I just realised it must be after Skeeter reveals that he's half giant.
His exact words were "practicing inappropriate charms on a goat" which could lead to a HUUUUGE amount of interpretation.

For the last question, Lemon Drop was used in the American printing and Sherbet Lemon for the British one...they're basically synonymous but we don't have sherbet lemons in the USA so they changed it to lemon drop 🍋
Bethany Rose I'm in America, I have Sorcerer’s Stone and I could've sworn it said Sherbert Lemon🤔
Bethany Rose I remember Sherbet Lemon being used, both book and movies. May be one of those "Loony Tunes/Loony Toons" things. Lol
Bethany Rose Ah that's interesting, but I'm pretty sure that in the audiobooks (assuming they listen to the Stephen Fry or Jim Dale audiobooks), which they do seem to listen to, it says sherbert lemon

According to the movies, Dumbledore ages a whole lot in just 11 years. He's pretty young in Fantastic Beasts, when Tom Riddle is born, and is then an old man when he visits Tom before he comes to Hogwarts.
@@Joe-fy9uy I said that.
I’d love to see it explained in the movies as something like the impact from a battle with Grindelwald. Like they fight, Dumbledore loses, but because of the blood pact he doesn’t die, but years are taken from him (making him appear to be much older rather quickly).
Its all the passionate gay lovemaking hes doing

I thought it was Luna. That made the suggestion for dumbledores army. But after being told I remember the scene perfectly
Happened to me at the fountain of fair fortune one. I was like why have you not read beedle the bard
yea, honestly its one of Ginny's only parts I recall first, the first being the kiss after winning the quidditch in HbP, and the silver lining part in DH
The fountain of fair fortune is in the book "tales of the beetle bard" one of J.K Rowling's extra books.
Everyone pls like this so J and Ben see this
Thomas Merritt This was my first thought 😂
Thomas Merritt and fantastic beast and where to find them book
The fountain of fair fortune is from the The Tales of Beedele the Bard. In the annonatations by Dumbledore he says how he was in charge of special effects for the play.
I read that and it was a complete fiasco that ended in fire fighting and a jam packed hospital wing.
I’m glad somebody commented on this. I swear J and Ben never bring up tales of Beedle the Bard and the fountain of fair fortune is my favorite.
"Lemon drop" is the American term for the hard sour lemon candies that the British call "sherbet lemon". The "American" versions of books 2-7 are a lot less Americanized than book 1.
KingsleyIII in brazil they were translate as lemon ice cream. i think the translator confused lemon sherbert and lemon sorbet, imagine my confusion as a child wondering how dumbledore was just carrying ice cream around. the brazilian translation is just a hot mess tbh
@@cajuinimigoI love this little bit of trivia. It brings me joy
In the German version of Philospherstone they call them Zitrone Brausebonbons and later "Sherbet Zitrone" (Lemon =Zitrone) but I don't remember what they used in the movie because I haven't watched them in German for years.
I'm so surprised how bad Ben did but even more surprised jay called dumbledoor's sister Kendra when it's Ariana

We NEED a Tales of Beedle the Bard theory. If for no other reason than just to get you guys to read it. Dumbledore's commentary on "The Fountain of Fair Fortune" is particularly hilarious.
cOmAtOrAn they need it just to know that The Fountain of Fair Fortune is in it.
It's a tale of beedle the bard? One moment I need to find my copy of it. .... huh... that's what happens when you only read it once I suppose.
TheDark4light there are multiple stories cOmAtOrAn just meant there should be a theory video for the book itself so that they can read it and Dumbledore's commentary.

Ben you were right, “Lemon Drop” is one of the passwords to Dumbledore’s office. McGonagal says it in the book, Chamber of Secrets. It just wasn’t one of the options 🤷🏻♂️
I'm pretty sure that is just the American version. McGonagall definitely says Sherbert Lemon in the British version.
Movie too
I was so proud when I knew that Ginny came up with the DA
Actually Cho said the word da but it meant defensive army Ginny Weasley suggested that it stands for dumbledores army
Is it not wired that DA was formed to teach DADA
Dumbledore creates two port keys in Order of the phoenix:
The kettle when Arthur was being attacked and the head of one of the statues in the ministry
Also when the Ministry comes to remove him from office, Dumbledore knocks them out and creates a Portkey again with the same kettle.
Bay Ehrman I think Fawkes took him out
Daniel Rowan That's the movie. It's different in the books.
Cho suggested calling the D.A. The defense association, and Ginny says that they should call it dumbledores army.
_Lunar Cat_ Yeah. I live how Ginny has a reason because it's the one thing Fudge is scared of.
Good memory
HOLD ON! Dumbledore created 2 Portkeys in Order of the Phoenix. One from his office to Grimmuald Place, after Arthur was attacked, and it was a kettle. The other was from Ministry of Magic to Headmaster office, after duel against Voldemort, and it was head of a statue.
I feel like they actually DID mentions Aberforth in book 3 or 2, Dumbledore says something about families being very different or choices defining you, and he mentions his brother getting in trouble for charming goats. Anyone else remember this?
Yes I remember. It happened in book 4 Goblet of fire at the dance.
Aberforth was first mentioned in book 4 while Albus, Harry, Ron and Hermione were at Hagrid's hut. They were talking about Skeeter's scathing story on Hagrid and Dumbledore intervened saying his brother, Aberforth, was accused of doing improper charms on goats, but did he hide himself away? No, he carried on... but then I'm not sure if Aberforth can read.
i think it meant by name...

Sherbet lemon is the British version of lemon drop
Qui-Gon Jinn not really
No. Like, not at all.
What do you mean
Sherbet lemons are hollow on the inside and contain sherbet. They're also (based on the very few lemon drops I've had) harder and bigger.
It might not be the same thing, but in the UK version the password was Sherbet Lemon, and the US version was Lemon Drop. Although when he tried the password he knew from then in a later year, he did say Sherbet Lemon in both versions.

I've listened to both the Jim Dale (American) and Stephen Fry (British) audiobooks, and to shine a little light on the last question: "Sherbet Lemon" is the candy Dumbledore eats and offers to McGonnogall outside the Dursley's in Book 1 Ch 1 and later the first password to his office. In the original American Scholastic Books run it's localized to "lemon drop!" They are alternately correct, like Weasley jumper/Weasley sweater.
As an aside, to J and Beth: next round through the audiobooks, give Stephen Fry's reading a go! I love his performance especially the way he reads dialogue, and I personally favor it-- Jim Dale has always sounded a little weary to me.
I've never listened to the Jim Dale version (love Stephen Fry!) and judging by the way these two pronounce names, I'm guessing that Dale's pronunciation is a bit weird.
I like how the first half of the quiz ben is just missing left and right and everyone is hyping up J but when it came to an actual difficult question that is specifically about the Dumbledore's (where did they live before godrics hollow) and Ben just knows it off the bat and J has no idea

I mainly just remember McGonagall saying "sherbet Lemon" then flicking her fingers in the first film.
Beefy I remember that too because me and my sister couldn't stop laughing at that part
Actually, I think she says that in the second film when they discover Harry with Justin's petrified body and she has to take Harry to Dumbledore and then Hagrid comes in protesting he didn't do it.
The reason that they think it’s lemon drop is because it’s that in the American one but the real one it’s sherbet lemon 🍋
same
Kelsybabe-P I don't know about the American film but in the American version of the book sherbet lemon was changed to lemon drop 😊
Was I the only one that really loved the Dumbledore actor for the first couple of movies? He was fantastic at creating an aura of wisdom and maturity that the later dumbledore could not grasp :/ the later dumbledore seemed too jumpy LOL
Lemon drops is the American "translation" of the cherbert lemon, because Americans wouldn't know what a cherbert lemon is. I understand the confusion Ben.
In Order of the Phoenix, doesn't Dumbledore also create a portkey after saving Harry in the Ministry, so Harry can get back to Hogwarts?
I recall Fudge making a fuss about "is that an unregistered portkey? You're breaking a law!"
I think it was the head of the golden statue that got destroyed in the duel against Voldemort.
Finn Underwood Yes! This! Thank you! I remembered the fuss he made about it being illegal and done just so obviously in front of him.
Ding ding ding! CORRECT!
I was thinking this too! But then I convinced myself he lit a fire to get him back...but your comment convinces me it was indeed a portkey 😂 off to read the entire series again!
That's the one I remembered first, then when they read off the multiple choice, I was so confused.

SuperCarlinBrothers, can you do a video where you try to figure out why Harry couldn't see the Thestrals when he saw his mom AND Professor Quirrell die? Please, I am a big fan😆
Gina he did not see Quirrell die. He fainted before Quirrell actually died. As for his mom, maybe he was too young, and didn’t remember it at that time
I always assumed that Quirrell was technically dead because he was being inhabited by He Who Must Not Be Named at the time, so Harry saw Voldemort "die" instead, but since he can't die...
There is a pretty accepted theory that to see the Thestrals you need to see and process/grieve the death - Harry was too young for his parents, and didn't see/grieve Quirrell
Gina what if quirril is alive after all
I always wondered why he didn’t see them on the way home after cedric died,
Lemon drop was what Dumbledore used as a password in the book, wasn't it? Then he was also unsticking 2 lemon drops while walking with McGonagall. McGonagall used sherbet lemon to open Dumbledore's escalator.
It was lemon drop. It happened in CoS after J Finch is petrified.
I looked it up. It is indeed "sherbert lemon" in the books.
The Fountain of Fair Fortune is a Tales of Beatle the Bard story about three witches and a Knight, one witch wanted love, another wanted medicine, and idk what the other wanted, the knight wanted luck, they traveled far and wide to get to the Legendary fountain, and bathed in the fountain water, they all got what they wanted, the twist was......... Hey Ben, and J could you guys do more of these quiz videos? I love seeing you guys do them :D
I was laughing at J's description of Beth wanting him to lose; that will totally be me when I get married. I'm amused that you guys found that the DA one was a trick question and it was one of the only ones I knew. I guessed the same as Ben on the "Dumbledore's favorite" question. Ahhh I almost guessed 400 for the house points one but guessed 200 instead. "We cannot post this video!" hahaha Ben! "Fountain of Funland or whatever it was" Loved this video!
18:32 It’s actually when Hagrid is embarrassed about being half giant, dumbledore says something to the effect of “When my brother was ridiculed for intimacy with goats, he held his head high!”
Ben: when people say they are a HP and I'm like child please
Also Ben: Alfred Dumbledore
I love this video because I'm an older sister, but I'm also a writer, so I've studied sibling dynamic before for my writing. In this video and a few of their others (Ranking the pixar movies is another one) you can really see their brotherly dynamic and you can tell Ben is J's younger brother. I love seeing that even as adults how the childlike sibling dynamic is still there.
Madeline Miller your talking about sibling dynamic but I still dont get what that means
Most younger siblings will share certain personality traits, as will older siblings. Like in Ben's imaginary friend video when he said older sisters or only children are more likely to have an imaginary friend. A "dynamic" is how two people interact with each other and a sibling dynamic is the specific way that siblings treat each other and interact with each other.
Madeline Miller okay thank you. :D
When they said the portkey, i shouted "TEA KETTLE!!!!" And got some looks.
I yelled "statue head" because he does that at the end of the book
MiddleSchoolNerd I did too!!!
I watched this one right after the dobby quiz and cracked up when the "barmy old codger" question came up. Ben's reaction in both videos is very similar.
By the way Narcissa Malfoy said "I see that being Dumbledore's favorite has given you a false sense of security, Harry Potter," in the sixth book when they see each other in Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions.
"What was Dumbledore's role in Hogwarts' first (and last) performance of 'The Fountain of Fair Fortune?' is indeed not from the main books, but rather from 'The Tales of Beedle the Bard'.
As for the question: The book is translated from runes to English by Hermione, including the original notes of Dumbledore. He wrote that during the first performance he worked as a special effects artist, but during the performance accidentally burned down the set and thus no performance has been executed after. (Hence it also being the last)
I saw the titl and I immediately started saying 'Dumbledore Dumbledore Dumbledore Dumbledore Dumbledore!!! Eeeeee!!!' Because HP is fortunately not just a computer company.
😂😂😂😂😂
Dumbledor actually makes two port keys in the Order of the Phoenix one after the Mr. Weasley get attacked (tea kettle) and one after the battle with Voldemort at the ministry (the statute head)

@@JT5555 you know a year later I prefer Tyler too. He grew on me
In book five Dumbledore creates two portkeys. The tea kettle from his office to St. Mungo's. And then the head of the wizard statue to send hair from the ministry to his office.
The first portkey was to #12. Then they took a car to St. Mungo's
Hair?
The fountain is from The Tales of Beedle the Bard
Isn't it from Dumbledore's commentary that he mentions the play?
A pretty fair question since he wrote it.
53% Not bad, being I've only read the books once.
Also, the lights are reflecting a smiley face perfectly in the center of one of the luxo balls ^_^ It's so cute!
Hallie Ramos awwwww I see it 😆
Hallie Ramos I see it too:)
When Ben said 657 and asked where it came from...
He might've BEN (heh) thinking of vault 687, which is Harry's vault in the movies.
Lol I'm real glad my wife and I aren't the only people who finish listening to the entire series only to immediately start it from the beginning again
And I thought I knew about Harry Potter until this😶😶😶
Francis Lynch I wonder how they remember all of this. I only read the books last year!!!
missfangirlcentral wtf how wow
Same I got 39% :( :( :(
Francis Lynch ikr.
1 wrong. Password. Said peppermint toad.
Lemon Drop is mentioned in the first book, when Dumbledore offers one to Professor McGonagall on Privet Drive.
I think it's in the American version of the philosopher
Dylan Manly he offers her a sherbet lemon boi
As far as I know sherbert lemon is changed to lemon drop in the American version just like the philosopher/sorcerer nonsense lol
@@ciaradunleavy7763 I have an American version (sorcerer's stone)and it says Sherbet Lemon?
@@j.pnewcomer1069 Some changes have been made between different editions of both the British and American versions. So it is possible that your edition either haven't this changed yet (and later ones have) or the other way around.
Ben: "Child, puh-lease!!"
Me: 😂😂😂
I'm SO proud of myself for getting the Dumbledore Yule Ball dance partner question correct! Neither Ben nor J got it.
I did not know like 99% of the answers
Tabatha Swinburne same
Tabatha Swinburne when they asked the first question I was wondering who the hell was Harry Potter
