The Entire Life of Aberforth Dumbledore (1884 - 2022) - Harry Potter Explained

  • Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing the life of Aberforth Dumbledore, younger brother of the great and powerful wizard, Albus Dumbledore.
While his life may not have been as widely celebrated as his older brother’s, Aberforth experienced his own share of adventures and tragedy throughout his life.
Born sometime between 1883 and 1884 to Percival and Kendra Dumbledore, Aberforth was a half-blood wizard and the Dumbledore’s second-born son. His older brother was - as mentioned - the world-famous Albus Dumbledore. When the brothers were still quite young, they were joined by their little sister, Ariana, whom Aberforth was extremely fond of.
In the beginning, the Dumbledore family lived quite a normal wizarding life in the village of Mould-on-the-Wold. Their mother would read them bedtime stories from the classic book for young witches and wizards, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, and Aberforth and Ariana would feed the goats together. With a somewhat peculiar interest in goats, Aberforth’s favourite tale was, as you might expect, Grumble the Grubby Goat. In fact, if you’d like to learn more on the subject of Aberforth and his obsession with goats, I highly recommend you check out my other video: What Did Aberforth Dumbledore Do with Goats?

As odd as it may sound, it was a good thing Mundungus emptied Grimmauld Place because he then sold the mirror to Abe which saved Harry's life. One of the great things in Harry Potter are the unintentional actions which end up significant in the end.

What I always found funny about him was his different approach towards Harry and Ginny. To Harry, of age and just escaped Gringotts on a dragon:
„It'll never be safe for you here, Potter, he wants you too badly. So go abroad, go into hiding, save yourself. Best take these two with you.“
To Ginny, under age fighting in the battle: "Good girl!"

Aberforth is shown in the last HP movie fighting dementors with a patronous of no specific form - it should be a goat, although the book does not mention any patronous at that point, but before, to confuse Voldy's men at Hogsmead and protect Harry, Hermione and Ron. Suggestions:
What would your boggart be if you feared nothing?
Can riddikulus be used on other creatures?
Can a patronus block the killing curse?
    Why can’t muggles see dementors?
What would your hogwarts house be if you were equally qualified for 2 or more houses?

    • @marcushendriksen8415
      @marcushendriksen8415 2 года назад +2

The answer to every single one of those have already been stated somewhere or can be easily deduced. A boggart's whole point of existence is to frighten things; a truly fearless person wouldn't even register to them. They'd just remain in whatever indeterminate state they usually maintain, unless there was someone else with the fearless person, which is whose fear they'd transform into.
Riddikulus was invented specifically for manipulating boggarts to adopt funnier forms. So no, probably not. (there's actually a deeper answer why I think that, but trust me, it's long)
Only material objects can block the killing curse, as demonstrated on many occasions. They might refer to mature Patronuses as being corporeal in the books, but they aren't solid and can't take an avada kedavra for you
Same reason Muggles can't see almost anything else magical, either: because they don't have any magic of their own
Remember the lesson from the Philosopher's Stone? It doesn't matter where the Hat thinks you should be, the important thing is where you want to end up. In that situation, which is called a Hatstall btw, the subject can just make their own choice to break the tie (it literally wouldn't even have to be one of the two options lol)

If I had to venture a guess about Aberforth and goats, I'd guess that maybe he'd transfigured a goat into an upright, human-like creature that could pass for an odd-looking person. It seems like this would be something that might be illegal. That's not canon, but it would sort of make sense. And would be preferable to other, less appropriate ideas. 😵‍💫

It must very heartbreaking ❤️‍🩹 for the Dumbledore family especially Aberforth who genuinely loved being the caregiver of the family.

7:20 I have decided to believe that Aberforth fell in love with a maledictus who had taken the form of a goat decades before in their youth together.
I chose to believe the spells he was attempting were misconstrued to be of an illicit nature; but were in fact his attempt to change her back into the woman/witch he loved.
Being a maledictus, and not a _True Goat,_ she has aged at the human/witch rate rather than that of a natural goat's life span of between one to two decades, at best.

Great video first of all man. I understand why Aberforth helped Albus. He was a logical man, he knew to separate between hatred to his brother, to the fact that his own blood still needs him, and that the threat from Voldemort is more important to address. I have a video offer- "The life of Antonin Dolohov, the most powerful Death Eater in existence." And when I say this, I know Severus was stronger, but Severus was in fact on the good side. And Dolohov is much stronger than Bellatrix, because he is much older, he had more time to gain power and knowledge, that's why my statement is, that he was much better than her.

So aberforth has issues with his brother because he neglected his family and sick sister because he was too ambitioush, and blames him for her death because of it
At the same time he abandoned his own son
God I hate the new movies

The thing with Ariana was an accident Grindelwald was going to kill aberforth because he was on to him then albus stepped in to stop it then it engaged to a 3 way duel but one spell must’ve deflected and hit Ariana as she was coming downstairs it killed her however no one knew who actually killed her if it was Grindelwald, albus or aberforth. I’m not saying albus was completely innocent we know he wasn’t but that was an accident.

Why does every smegger, including Brits now apparently, keep referring to "graduating from Hogwarts"?!?! This school is not American and Rowling does not use this word ONCE!
We finish our education. We leave school. We do not graduate.

    • @doctor_gibbo1392

She's said in interviews that they do have a graduation ceremony but she didn't want to include it in the book:
"J. K. Rowling: "Do you know, John, I'm really glad you asked that, because I felt a huge sadness that I wouldn't write a graduation scene. […] I really, during the final book, kept thinking it would've been - it felt sad that the book wasn't going to end with that feast scene, the graduation scene, but it couldn't, it just couldn't. That's not the way it could've ended. It would've felt far too trite, and a lot of people felt the epilogue was too sentimental. I think to have a graduation scene on top of what just happened would've been absurd anticlimax.""

    • @theradgegadgie6352
      @theradgegadgie6352 2 года назад

@@doctor_gibbo1392 That interviewer was American and used the word first. Rowling was just repeating back to him language he would be familiar with.
I'll repeat, the concept of "graduation" is never mentioned once in the novels and is alien to British schools entirely. The ceremony Rowling alludes to mainly involves sailing back across the lake from the castle. There is no graduation component of it. It is simply a leaving ceremony; a not uncommon thing.

@@theradgegadgie6352 We do graduate from Universities in Britain though. I would perhaps surmise that since Wizard society doesn't have universities then NEWT level is the equivalent of a higher level education degree whereas OWL's are more like our GCSE's. Either way we certainly do have graduation ceremonies in Britain. It's not just an American thing, remember our Universities predate theirs by several hundreds of years and are far superior generally so if anything they copied graduation off us like they nicked everything else.
