I was gonna badmouth this because I built a Samurai for about $2500 that could do MOAB but A) You seemed like such a nice guy, B) you're obviously very smart and talented and C) I actually really like the BMW. Great work!

This thing is rad. I always wanted to build a Trailblazer SS into this as it already has an LS2 and came w 4 link 14B out back. CA smog legal from the get go.

My buddy's Mom had an X5 when we were younger. She used to let us drive it and man was that thing fast! Handled like a dream on the street, like it was on tracks

Since the frame is integrated into the body of the machine, the center of gravity is very low. I think it's perfect for trials. The main thing is that the body must be able to withstand torsional loads.

Man you gotta test this vehicle more, it can do much, MUCH more than you showed here I think.
Since this was the first shakedown off-road with the X5, Mike wanted to shake all the bugs out first. Next time the ULTRA X5 is out in Moab, it'll be hitting even harder trails

Make an offroad honda civic and do moab with it, so that you can say "my civic can do that".

So why change the engine , does it not produce enough power ? Also the convo you had with locals "looks like an X5 but not" Does the North Star engine not able to produce the amount of power that is needed ?
obviously there is 5% of X5 left. Propably something like 30% of Land Cruiser and 65% of custom... But a nice machine there.
New Chryslers have a electric vacuum pump.

All that has been good on the X5/e53 has gone - left is the most booring part: A SUV shell.
moab isnt hard in general and you decided to run the trails that cars do. great job
I'm sorry but....I liked it better when it was an actual X5. It was relatable and cool to see it progressing in abilities. It was a progress any weekend warrior could do.
Now you thrown 50k worth of parts at it along w fab work almost no one could do at home and basically kept the shell. It's a buggy now. A fantasy vehicle for the rich.

That chassis was engineered with the help of Land Rover
