I think Star Ocean: The Last Hope is a game many people played but few remember. It was completely adequate. Fun, humorous, decent graphics, and a story that fades from memory like the dinner you had last Tuesday.
I have a notebook in a box in my closet with everything in this game items, battle trophies, everything and a checkmark next to every one of them because that's what it takes to get the plat for this god forsaken game.
Funny how I forgot around 95% of that game xD (well, it is already ten years later). Before viewing the game, I forgot more than half of the party members xD (completly forgot Bacchus and Sarah), I do remmeber "ARBYS" because the scene in wich he joins the party just feels so lame it's hard to forget him xD. (and honestly, losing a rapier wielder with cool stances animation for a edgy reaper guy...) I do remember a bit of the tower in Lumeris and about who is the Apostle of Creation. And that's about it. I mean, even while watching the run the memories didn't really came back. Talk about how much that game marked me. Well, it did have a really great gameplay, wich was feeling even better playing co op with my bro. Anyway, great run! Quite dynamic and a lot of differents approaches making uses of all party members in only two and bit hours.
The Bonus board have 4 "after battle" effects. Last hitting an enemy with a crit. grants a 10% per stack Experience bonus. (Cyan) Last hitting multiple enemies with the same attack/abillity, grants a 10% per stack Fol (money) bonus. (Yellow) Defeating an enemy, using only mana consuming abillities, grants a 1% hp & mp per stack restoration, after every battle. (Pink) Getting an ambush (Having more than one encounter) grants a 1sp per stack bonus, after every battle. (Green) You lose half of the bonus board, when the character you control gets K.O'd or occasionally, when enemies lands a Crit. on the character you control. You also lose half of the bonus board, when escaping from a battle, i believe.
I'm aware that Star Ocean: The Last Hope speedrunning isn't that active, but i'm still curious. Why isn't there an any% Newgame+ category using Monster Jewels? Isn't there any that would safe time? I can think of quite a few that boosts stuff like attack percentage, and in particular my favorite, the Kokabiel spawn's monster jewel have insane elemental resistance, but not sure if any are of use. Also, wouldn't the speedrun be faster on PC, due to faster save/loads?
My question is if they were going to make the game like this, then why bother with the realistic seeming intro? It talked about realistic topics like World War 3 and had space stations being built in a realistic way. Then the game starts and it goes straight to over the top never could actually exist fantasy Anime world. I hate that. It's like the intro was made for another game, or they couldn't decide what game they wanted to make and changed it halfway thru but left the intro the same.
Text scrolls quicker in Japanese, they use fewer symbols. French and German if its dependent on voices. It should be English at a marathon though, not like they're gonna get any records with all the safety saves.
@@steveberard9086 I enjoy a good English voice acting as much as the next dude but you look at this and tell me there's a god ruclips.net/video/EWJjqgXyIYg/видео.html
I swear..... I really hate the main girl's mannerisms, the one in the Pink armor. Do all Japanese females move like that? With the strange head movement when talking and things like that? It's not cute in the least bit, it's stupid looking. & ya know, not having the Japanese voices selected would have at least helped a little. Not sure why they chose the Japanese voices to make it even more annoying and sickeningly unrealistic feeling. My god... and the item crafting chick with the hand for a wand.... WHY??? Why is Japan allergic to realism?? This could have been so freaking cool with that awesome intro sequence, but they just HAD to Japan it up and make it weird...
I mained Reimi and honestly I didn't mind her mannerism the slightest. To me personally she was fun to play mainly because she's an archer, her abilities and her cool looking blindside animation.
So, to be absolutely clear: your problem with a game made in Japan is that...it's too Japanese? Next you'll be upset that Doctor Who is too British. Or NASCAR too American. Or that you're too much of a bell end.
@@TimedRevolver My point completely flew over your head. It has absolutely nothing to do with what country it's from. It has to do with the tropey bullshit. It has gotten incredibly stale at this point and is not at all endearing imo. Japanese created games have become completely stale and lacking in imagination in general. They just do the same stuff over, and over, and over and over and over and over again, for the last 20 years it's been the same thing over and over and over. And the tropeyness of the character designs and their demeanors is just annoying. Are ppl really into that sort of stuff? The absurdly unrealistic outfits and mannerisms of it's characters, why is that even a thing? Who actually likes that crap?

LOL the prologue made everything sound so promising, like the game might actually look and play realistically, and then the action starts and you see that the characters and everything else just look like your stereotypical fantasy RPG stuff that could never exist in the real world. When will they start making games like this with more realistic looking characters and visuals? Why do the characters always have to look so ridiculous with outfits that would never exist in the real world? Ugh... have been sick of the over the top Japanese stuff for a while now. i enjoyed this run so much. thanks someDDRnoob. this game took me forever to beat. it was my first star ocean.
Star Ocean TLH, because riding a big pink fluffy bunny is the greatest therapy known to man 😁
I genuinely, unironically, like this game. Come at me.
I like it too. Its cheesy and cringy at times but i have fun with it. And it looks really good imo.
Same I was more disappointed that Integrity was basically just this game again but better graphics
Liking something unironically in a youtube comment? But sir! Is that... legal?
My only complaint is the hardcore backtracking tied with trying to be a completionist...
Im2 hours in and The 2nd Story seems to blow this out the water

need to be 18 to grab chests, gotcha
Anyone know what happened to this runner? Twitch and Twitter both deleted. I enjoyed this run and wanted to follow him.
Runner goes by the name Fumofumomeiling now, doesn't really speedrun much anymore though.
59:09 laptop bro in the front row lol
I guess his laptop crashed and he got pissed off? Lmao :D
Maybe I missed it, but what exactly is the bonus board doing? Upping all of his stats?
It boosts everyone's experience points.

one of the few games I played that was just SO BAD it became fun. This game is a guilty pleasure for sure.

Be the change you want to see in this world
Serious question? Who's cephi? I would like to know tbh
Can't understand, I'm still in Roak looking something in the sand, maybe I'm too overpowered
6:07 Bid war for character name Lymie... Lymle fam Lymle
Just a little spooky lol
Of course he would use the much superior Japanese dub of the original game.

I will never understand why people are so obsessed with having Japanese voices over English Japanese voice acting is terrible
