How To Commit Crime (Contraband) Guilt Free in Star Ocean The Second Story R: Step 1: Spec into Contraband (Courage & Pokerface for Pickpocketing multiple characters. The more/higher, the better) Step 2: Have one person spec into Replication Step 3: Commit Contra-Crime until you have ONE of the item you want, but at least a Forged Document. Step 4: Use Replication to dupe the SHIT out of your Forged Documents for all the money you want. Repeat process with anything else (outside Scarlet Medal) from the Contraband tree to avoid friendship penalties. COMMIT CRIME GUILT FREE!
The pickpocketing trick is really nice to save on some SP early on (As the pickpocketing skill will still be wanted later on for a couple of amazing armor pieces) But for those who want even more boxes early on investing into the Art skill and getting it to level 4 lets you make as many of the boxes as you want. and you can get multiple of each of the awesome weapons too for a bit of Fol farming early on if you really want too.
The earliest and easiet to get the goodies box arguably is actually using Art and craft it using magic clay, celine can get to lv 5 Art easily. Just buy as many magic clay as possible and make the goodies box. Work far easier and cheaper than stealing it IMO. I did it at lv 13 and got rena+claude weapons.
tip: Get Art to at least lvl 4 on one character. Buy as many Magical Clay as you can afford. (6000 gold per batch of 20) Use Art to "Create Strange Goods" with the Magical Clay. You can make things in batches of up to 10. With each batch of 10 creations, you have very good odds to get 1-2 Goodie Boxes. And yes, you can do this before Krosse Cave.
I can confirm this is the best way. Also, don't waste Celine's points for money. Go fishing outside Crosse Cafe and use the small ones as bait. Then sell the big fish. Now you can buy all the clay
How? I have no magic canvas. It’s literally impossible that early unless there’s some place you can farm them that quickly? How many crafts does it take to level up art?

I was opening my goodie box, wandering what to keep, while listening to this video, and got the sword of marvels from the first one just as you were showing it, and an earring of magnetism, in the same open. I will say, this is a lucky video. Also my card gave me the back attack preventing earing. BONUS!
I was messing around with customize in Krosse and managed to turn a Broadsword (40 atk) into an Aurora Blade (~1190 atk I think) for Claude after a few save spams. Way easier than all this in my opinion, but it's funny how many different ways there are so early on to get op.
That weapon still sucks the Marvel Sword NEVER misses and can still last for the ENTIRE game any weapons that have higher then 1100 Str but don't have a 100% hit chance by games end even on Earth mode are pure CRAP for Claude/Dias.
@@veghesther3204Excuse me while I shoot stars with my Aterna sword/Eternal Sphere and out damage that sword by 10X. Also, that weapon is obtained right after the cross tournament 3 hours into the game, instead of half way through the second half of the game.
Another tip just lvl cooking ti where the eggs become 100% on Rena then mass buy and mass make them half the the items u make sell for 200gold where as the item to make them is only 10g so it's 190fol profit most of the time if u just don't wanna do missions and u want a quick and easy way to get fol bonus for u if u decide to get pricing specialty to raise prices of ur sold items also dont worry about grinding canyon intill u get sword of marvels since ur gonna grind it anyway if u wanna make ur life easy also ifnur gonna pick upnashton over opera like i did go ahead and grab ashton before u start farming in the canyon so u dont have to do it later when u recruit him in the 2ed planet just make sure u have customisation on ashton maxed out buy the wep for him at the shop and use iron to turn into Damascus with celine then just mass craft malufa which sells for ungodly ammounts expecially with price gougeing useing any fairy glasses specilizations and threatning books to gouge the price further u can buy a full inventory of swords for less then 150k and make 2million off them

It's a must for Claude. Because enemies telegraph their attacks most of the time, with godspeed you can just move up or down to avoid the attack. Also it helps when enemies go after your healers, to get there fast enough to save them.

The thing is, a lot of the things to break the game are Developer intended if you have the knowledge for it. So it's kinda hard to say you're truly breaking the game weather developers clearly want players to experiment and do that very thing.
you can print fol using longsword and ruby (customization) at salva and with item knowledge (optional) you can sell more than what is cost from the materials
You can do the same thing a lot of ways with less menu interactions as well, for example the cheapest foods with cooking, purity, fishing and chumming big catches with bait, magic film duping expensive items, fol boost cards, formation bonus, contraband(bypass relationship punishment with food) etc etc etc.
Got the sword of marvels in the first goodie box and the second box I got the sorcerer's knuckles and the lotus eaters. This is my first time ever playing this game, took ten minutes to get those 3 items 😅. Idk who the lotus eaters are for but glad I got two op weapons in that second box.

Best combo I ever got from the Goodie Box and Ben Card is, 1. Sorceress Knuckles for Rena, 2. Silver Rod for Celine, 3. Fine Shield for Claude. Claude can customize his weapon to Saad Blade and Silvance, easy.
Since you'replaying with Rena as your MC, would you recommend giving the Sword of Marvels to Dias to use after Claude gets aquires the Aeterna or have Claude customize the Sword of Marvels to the Silverance instead for Dias to use?

@@Weltallgaia This will definitely break the early game, But as I'm playing in Universe difficulty I would say the difficulty will increase by a lot. But ulitmately Star Ocean games are in my opinion a crafting sandbox that I like to play that way. And the game offers you rewards and challenges for having this kind of gameplay (like raid encounters being available super early on the map)
Yeah this game is way too easy to break if you know what you’re doing, especially with enlightenment and training combined with chain battles. I need to calm down with the leveling

My main is claude but nimble is with Rena. Can i stilll use pick pocket under privste action? Because private action mode is Claude not Rena. Please help
I was 15 when the original PS1 came out. I did the Marvel sword trick, and it almost ruined the game for me. Things were too easy, and I didn’t have to learn proper combat. When enemies started catching up, I was in for a rude awakening. I’m older now, so it probably wouldn’t hurt me much now. 😂
That’s what they all say then they let the power corrupt them. Trust me I know, I’m on my second playthrough(not ng+) and without the gear I got I’m getting my butt handed to me
Restart a game :(, it increases the chance to pickpocket by a lot. The only way to get it in te early game is to restart a game. There are other ways in late game though, but you will have missed the item
Correct in this version you can still learn it its only required to START with it on EVERY OTHER version ie the PS1/PSP version you can only learn it POST Kurik being destroyed IE the BUYABLE skill books for Crafting/Machinery are only buyable via the Lacquer Continent itself.

Contraband & replication. Get forged medal. Make copies. Put points super specialty in bodyguard (scouting I think) Put points in familiar skill lvl 9 Put medal on all party members. Walk around and let bodyguard ability smack the easy enemies with an auto resolve battle. Quickly put another medal after you kill. Call familiar eagle lvl 9 and buy magical film rinse repeat
I got sword of marvel, lotus eater and sorcerer knuckles, but i only started using them the moment i got to centropolis, would be so unfair to use on expel.

replay to get the 5 characters you cant in 1 playthrough and endgame seems the same as the original game but about 30% harder from what i remember. the coliseum on the other hand is about 50 times harder than the old game
But they also cost like 5x as much in fact on the PS1/PSP version NO SKILL COSTS MORE then 80 SP PER skill lv so by the time Claude Rena hit lv 100 on THOSE 2 versions you can have Customize/Alchemy BOTH at lv 10 on Claude Rena and effort at lv 10 and have the increased exp/SP skill at lv 6 on Claude/Rena. Yet in this R version it would take closer to 200 LVS out of the 255 to have ALL the Item Creations skills at lv 10 even with the Lowered cost skill maxed out at LV 10 first.
@@veghesther3204 yeah i noticed that as well even with prioritizing enlightnment and using wriring books to save SP my skills were not all mastered until about level 230 seems like a strange change to me
That's kind of why IMHO the PS1/PSP version of the game is still the best ones to date on those versions you can still MAKE the Goodie Boxes but at lv 10 Artwork its still only a 10% chance and on those versions all 1000+ weapons that are NOT the Marvel Sword are almost never gotten out of it. On the PS1/PSP version you ONLY need 130 lvs to master all Item creation/Battle skills only just having Enlightenment at lv 10 in this version takes a FULL 100 LVS IF even THAT to do so.
Forged documents, Counterfeit Medals, Contraband to forge and Replication to duplicate forever. You need Magic Film for Replication and Premium Paper for Contraband. Check every NPC for Pickpocketing to see who has something amazing like a star symbol assist tool to steal. I had 5 million FOL and my team to level 100 before the Lacuer Tournament. And yes Dias still smacks you down but I blocked a couple hits😂
Also in Contraband you can get Item Order which also gives you 3 random items like the Goodie Box, but you can duplicate the item order with magic film also! Magic Film is busted in SO2, Claude has Sword of Marvels and Silvance, Ashton has Mephistolar, Precis has Atomic Punch and Rena has Sorcerers Knuckles before Lacuer tournament. Right after I've already made Aeterna which is one of Claudes strongest weapons👍
Ashton Precis Celine still SUCK and are NEVER in my party so for the Tournament I only had Claude/Rena lv 100 you only get Opera/Bowman AFTER you lose to Dias their first.

Right after? That mountain area, save before entering... you're not supposed to fight those difficult battles yet but ONE victory and well... Plus they drop a cursed material that sells for or turns into like blood armor/weapon type stuff or something... Warning get Celine so you have full party... then proceed to break the game... because you WILL break it... lol
You can actually grind level on the very first map. I got to lv50 (since I got too tired after that 😂) on the sacred forest alone👀 thanks to the rare slimey dude with teeth that can replicate
You dont NEED pickpocket guys. Just craft everything you can once you unlock "IMPROVE" and at 10% item list you get a goodie bag, save and open it until you get sword of marvels, then go to lasgnus mountain and farm at the save point for a couple hours until you're level 70, get crafting to lv8 and cooking to lv8, go back to Krosse City. Go to the ingredient vendor and buy 20 eggs/dairy and 20 vegetables, cook the 20 vegetables and cook the 20 eggs/dairy, then sell them back to the vendor.. Do this until you have 150k FOL. Buy 20 Magic Clay and craft them all until you get 4 goodie bags. Save your game and then open 1 until you get Renas 1000 attack gloves, reload if you dont. Once you do, open the goodie bag until you get Celines 1000 attack weapon, reload until you do and save. Open up another goodie bag until you get earring of readiness, reload until you do and save when you do.. this item makes you NEVER get back attacked as long as its equipped on someone in your active party. Open up the last goodie bag and you're looking for an earring of fury, this gives celine 300% attack and lowers her hit by 50% but hit doesnt really matter until much later in the game. Enjoy.
@@joewhan11 With her 1k attack staff and this earring she goes up to above 3k attack for me, I just set her to use no MP and she teleports around destroying stuff as I have her equipped with a ring that adds 1 extra attack per hit also.

Pickpocket is not even neccesary anymore, by doing challenges you get a Box that you can open and wala you can get very op Sword or other items if you save scum.
oof not sure i would recommend this unless you paid $70 to read text boxes and drool into a cup during combat when you one shot everything...just buy a book and read that, its cheaper!
why not just install a trainer and make it so everything dies in 1 hit? i will never understand why people abuse shit like this to make games piss easy

The best battle skill for melee fighters is godspeed you want to max that out first...

The game itself lets you know where the PAs are by showing up the map and you will see them either in towns you been in or dungeons.
I'll do my best to finish it, but it will probably be late for most people as it takes a lot of time@@rimlatv

Is there any need to PA for the pickpocketing? It doesn't seem to prevent your friends from hating you in this version

It does ! but with Publication Super Specialty you can increase at your heart content
Also another solution is to only pickpocket during private actions. Then no one sees your crime wave of theft.

I was 15 when the original PS1 came out. I did the Marvel sword trick, and it almost ruined the game for me. Things were too easy, and I didn’t have to learn proper combat. When enemies started catching up, I was in for a rude awakening. I’m older now, so it probably wouldn’t hurt me much now. 😂
That’s what they all say then they let the power corrupt them. Trust me I know, I’m on my second playthrough(not ng+) and without the gear I got I’m getting my butt handed to me

Restart a game :(, it increases the chance to pickpocket by a lot. The only way to get it in te early game is to restart a game. There are other ways in late game though, but you will have missed the item

Correct in this version you can still learn it its only required to START with it on EVERY OTHER version ie the PS1/PSP version you can only learn it POST Kurik being destroyed IE the BUYABLE skill books for Crafting/Machinery are only buyable via the Lacquer Continent itself.

wow thx for this was a massive tip the determinaition one 100% so when I got to the selina lady and unlocked the ic list she only had 50 sp and got 0 more when I turned int hose quest making her very far away from getting that 40k fol any idea what went wrongas to why she was given so little sp?

No I did all this before Krosse Cave, you have to enter PA mode.

Contraband & replication. Get forged medal. Make copies. Put points super specialty in bodyguard (scouting I think)
Put points in familiar skill lvl 9
Put medal on all party members. Walk around and let bodyguard ability smack the easy enemies with an auto resolve battle. Quickly put another medal after you kill.
Call familiar eagle lvl 9 and buy magical film rinse repeat
I got sword of marvel, lotus eater and sorcerer knuckles, but i only started using them the moment i got to centropolis, would be so unfair to use on expel.

is there a good weapon for Opera in the goodie box?
not as "good" as the others but yes a powerful weapon for that point in the game, i think its about 700 attack compared to most of the weapons at 1100

how’s replay value and end game.
replay to get the 5 characters you cant in 1 playthrough and endgame seems the same as the original game but about 30% harder from what i remember.
the coliseum on the other hand is about 50 times harder than the old game

they are all avalible but start at "zero"
But they also cost like 5x as much in fact on the PS1/PSP version NO SKILL COSTS MORE then 80 SP PER skill lv so by the time Claude Rena hit lv 100 on THOSE 2 versions you can have Customize/Alchemy BOTH at lv 10 on Claude Rena and effort at lv 10 and have the increased exp/SP skill at lv 6 on Claude/Rena.
Yet in this R version it would take closer to 200 LVS out of the 255 to have ALL the Item Creations skills at lv 10 even with the Lowered cost skill maxed out at LV 10 first.
@@veghesther3204 yeah i noticed that as well even with prioritizing enlightnment and using wriring books to save SP my skills were not all mastered until about level 230 seems like a strange change to me
That's kind of why IMHO the PS1/PSP version of the game is still the best ones to date on those versions you can still MAKE the Goodie Boxes but at lv 10 Artwork its still only a 10% chance and on those versions all 1000+ weapons that are NOT the Marvel Sword are almost never gotten out of it.
On the PS1/PSP version you ONLY need 130 lvs to master all Item creation/Battle skills only just having Enlightenment at lv 10 in this version takes a FULL 100 LVS IF even THAT to do so.
Forged documents, Counterfeit Medals, Contraband to forge and Replication to duplicate forever. You need Magic Film for Replication and Premium Paper for Contraband. Check every NPC for Pickpocketing to see who has something amazing like a star symbol assist tool to steal. I had 5 million FOL and my team to level 100 before the Lacuer Tournament. And yes Dias still smacks you down but I blocked a couple hits😂
Also in Contraband you can get Item Order which also gives you 3 random items like the Goodie Box, but you can duplicate the item order with magic film also! Magic Film is busted in SO2, Claude has Sword of Marvels and Silvance, Ashton has Mephistolar, Precis has Atomic Punch and Rena has Sorcerers Knuckles before Lacuer tournament. Right after I've already made Aeterna which is one of Claudes strongest weapons👍
Ashton Precis Celine still SUCK and are NEVER in my party so for the Tournament I only had Claude/Rena lv 100 you only get Opera/Bowman AFTER you lose to Dias their first.
Dias can be defeated in the OG if Claude guts is high enough.
@@lightning932I only just found out he could be killed too! But that was a nice lil addition to the PSP Version :) He was legit unkillable on PS1 unless me and others didn't cheat hard enough 😂

Right after? That mountain area, save before entering... you're not supposed to fight those difficult battles yet but ONE victory and well...
Plus they drop a cursed material that sells for or turns into like blood armor/weapon type stuff or something...
Warning get Celine so you have full party... then proceed to break the game... because you WILL break it... lol
You can actually grind level on the very first map. I got to lv50 (since I got too tired after that 😂) on the sacred forest alone👀 thanks to the rare slimey dude with teeth that can replicate

I didn’t do any of this. I just got to Krosse Cave and the enemies hit pretty hard in there.
You dont NEED pickpocket guys.
Just craft everything you can once you unlock "IMPROVE" and at 10% item list you get a goodie bag, save and open it until you get sword of marvels, then go to lasgnus mountain and farm at the save point for a couple hours until you're level 70, get crafting to lv8 and cooking to lv8, go back to Krosse City. Go to the ingredient vendor and buy 20 eggs/dairy and 20 vegetables, cook the 20 vegetables and cook the 20 eggs/dairy, then sell them back to the vendor.. Do this until you have 150k FOL. Buy 20 Magic Clay and craft them all until you get 4 goodie bags. Save your game and then open 1 until you get Renas 1000 attack gloves, reload if you dont. Once you do, open the goodie bag until you get Celines 1000 attack weapon, reload until you do and save. Open up another goodie bag until you get earring of readiness, reload until you do and save when you do.. this item makes you NEVER get back attacked as long as its equipped on someone in your active party. Open up the last goodie bag and you're looking for an earring of fury, this gives celine 300% attack and lowers her hit by 50% but hit doesnt really matter until much later in the game.

Doesn't earrings of fury raise attack, will it benefit her spells? Or are you suggesting using her as a melee character?
@@joewhan11 With her 1k attack staff and this earring she goes up to above 3k attack for me, I just set her to use no MP and she teleports around destroying stuff as I have her equipped with a ring that adds 1 extra attack per hit also.

Pickpocket is not even neccesary anymore, by doing challenges you get a Box that you can open and wala you can get very op Sword or other items if you save scum.

This takes away the enjoyment of the game now so boring you can finish the game for maybe 4 hrs only so whats the point of being op in the early game. That takes away the challenges. So do you think did you enjoy the game?no. No challenge at all. This is not a game anymore this is cheating stil. Hope they didnt make this cheating very early on the game should be end game
