Love how they explained this in simple way for fans like me to understand downforce better. Thank you team !! All the best for Mexico, Brazil & Abu Dhabi 💪💪
You also got behind by sticking to the zero sidepod concept, hopefully you can make it work next year, or going even next level with it, as a Max fan I would like to see competition, so good luck next year, crossing fingers for a better championship
@@hananabbey3608 I’ll go out on a limb and say that most Verstappen fans, and really most F1 fans as a whole, show massive respect to all competitors. We see a very vocal bunch of outliers online, and they skew perspective. I was just at the Mexico GP, and while the love for Sergio is obvious as it’s his home race, there was real love for many teams and drivers, too. I just wish these online trolls could be muted better.
Also explore the possibility of leveraging pushing-forward-longitudinal-forces generated by /from an inverted wing located within the airbox, trailing edge down.... Plus another non-inverted, trailing edge up, just behind the rear diffusers.
I feel like this reworked with vertical side pods W13 was designed and shaped more for straight line speed and also to not be hit too hard with side winds as it corners. Am sure Mercedes-AMG built structures that would compensate for some loss in downforce. Great to see the car has slowly but surely greatly improved and could even beat Ferrari for 2nd in the constructors.
I suppose the challenge for next season is keeping the down force as is but reduce drag to increase straight line speed. This is a hard problem but not unsolvable.
The obvious challenge is getting more downforce with less drag at the same time but drag is also responsible for helping slow down the car at high speed under braking. It's like trying to envision a world without friction. No friction means everything slides around indefinitely and without friction, the act of standing up on our 2 feet would be physically impossible.
Hey Mercedes f1 I am a huge fan of you guys from Pakistan , my favorite drivers are lewis and Seb . I always have a good laugh when people are talking about those super complex F1 aerodynamics and how the smallest details can make a huge difference - and then you see drivers being absolutely competitive with bent or missing wing parts or damaged cars like Alonso's in Austin last weekend with damaged underfloor, a mirror breaking off, etc. 😂.
Let's just hope that we can win a race before this season is over, so that we can have some sort of a hope for next season, because this season has been kinda s**t so far frankly

Question. Do teams run simulations pre race for each track understanding what the best downforce model is to be used based on the turns and altitude and wind forecasts and decide on the most optimal configuration? And since breaking patterns differ from driver to drive does this have any effect on the simulations while having different configurations for individual drivers?
Cars definitely comes pre race configured. I wathed video(i watched long ago), where they say cars come pre configured and setup is done around 90% before even hit particular track. They help with simulations, previous years data and probably other tools and informations. Real testing is mostly for fineses, car balance setup and for testing new parts. As for second question, i believe(i don't know for sure), they choose universal best setup from aero, drag, brake disk size, cooling and suspension point of view and later when on real track, individual driver make smaller performance changes, like brake bias to own liking.
Maybe I'm crazy but from the onboard camera at the side of the car of redbull, yo can see that a yellow piece behind driver's helmet is moving Up when going fast, is It an Air conduct to the floor of the car that reduces porpoising? Or is It just a meaningless detail?
Eh it won’t make them drop off. But it will effect them a little bit. Since they already have their aero package from this year. Ferrari and merc were angry about the punishment not being more harsh. Redbull can spend money elsewhere and put less priority on their aero since they nailed it already.
I have a lot of respect for diversity , but i also have a feeling that this is the main reason why Mercedes has made it wrong this year. I hope they learned this year from mistakes and take the next car to a higher level.

Can’t believe that Mercedes are employing women to run their aero group. No wonder they are under performing. Looks like the team is now more interested in championing diversity, rather than employing the best engineers available to win Grand Prix!!
I've never understood why there is so much talk about women in F1 when there are lots of them that do very good job in the factories and in the paddock in general. The fact that there are no women drivers yet doesn't mean that there are no women in the sport in general

How about diffusers explained video? And inlet funnel vs diffuser ratios which is more effective?
