Regarding your discussion about saving your ult in the early game, you have to consider how different the enemy is playing simply because you have not ulted yet and you are level 6, the threat of Shen ult is making the enemy play around it, similar to the way Blitzcrank Q works in lane
yes especially with blitz hook, example of this is a game where i blind shot my hook into a bush but no one saw so i just made aggressive movements towards the low 2 enemy team members, flashed in and got 2 flashes to go off
Low Elo players don't think about it when spammed in chat neither when they literally see the ult shield coming...
@@simodegre This is my experience as a top laner in low elo when I play into Shen. Game starts and I type to team: Shen is in this game, remember that any fight is one he can join. I ping he's 6 when he gets ult, shortly after that they fight and lose.

@@webignar In addition, adc escaped with flash from my w skill while he was fighting with basic attack champion. Maybe, teammates and rival calculate yout ulti but, they never consider shen w even if you are diamond😅
watching Petu and thinking Shen is broken while in reality his decision making is top tier. idk how many times he was mid fight and stopped at the right moment to save Jhin, the way he uses abilities in lane and runes/item awareness is mindblowing.

I was wondering why you would upload your team getting stomped, then you performed the most beautiful comeback.
You probably already tested this but frozen heart, because of the way it works, will proc unending despair despite not being in active combat. Meaning in short trades, so long as you are within frozen heart range, you will heal and poke.
I tried building this with Sion, Darius and Maokai. It works but the issue is most often than not after getting despair and frozen heart laning phase is over.
Unending despair also counts as spell damage and triggers spell effects. This is good for tank supports for example

What a game! I wish I could play Shen half as well as you do. There is so much patience, gamesense and understanding of the champion being displayed here. I would say you are Shen irl, but unlike him you are not afraid to break out the forbidden technology.

The build even gets an indirect buff in patch 14.3 because Sundered Sky loses 10 AD (55->45) but gains 150 HP (300->450). Not only do you indirectly heal yourself more because the passive from Sundered Sky heals with missing health and you will have more max HP in the future, but you don't benefit much from the AD anyway. In addition, the passive, E, R, Unending Despair and Titanic are scaling with Max HP, which also benefits from the Sundered Sky change. Very hyped for Shen in patch 14.3 with this build :)

i run a similar build for fun with friends in flex or norms but on Vi. Eclipse + Fimbulwinter core with shield bash and ingenious hunter in runes. with your passive its non stop perma shield and tons of fun. idk why i never thought of adding the healing items to it… guess i was too busy building locket and steraks for more shields. thanks for cooking petu, even though i dont play really shen too much i love your channel

I'm so glad that Shen can finally scale I always felt like, in recent seasons, Shen would be strong early but fell off a cliff by 30 mins. I love these longer games in difficult matchups, it really shows how much you understand the champion and the game. I hope your recovery and PT are going well also grats on the penta from last vid!
This tech seems amazing bro. I watched blue ninja suggesting it as well, but when I tried I did not like it. but did not know the interaction with igneous hunter. I knew before on Hydra, and had fun with it as well, but now I got to try unending despair as well.

btw this doesnt work anymore. Unending is no longer affected by item haste and ingenious does not proc it faster.

Long time fan Petu, I took like 6 month break from league, first game back I played Shen top with this build and went 20/1, my ADC left but I was able to hard carry with 2x damage of anyone else. SHEN IS BACK

You can do the same on a mana champ whit a low cooldown cc, add Fimbulwinter, Eclipse, and Spirit visage to complete the build, and totally stop loosing health in 1v1 and 2v1 duels
Petu try this build but use extra healing power instead of overgrowth and replace ice gauntlet with spirit Visage.
It'll give you 20% bonus healing on shorter cooldown bursts, you'll truly become an unkillable machine.
I dont know if sundering sky was right in THIS game, but I can appreciate that the item does heavily compliment Shens 5 meal course. Maybe Jaksho earlier instead of Sundering, or Frost Gauntlet earlier. I didnt see Ingenious Hunter actually lowering the CD on SS, it was still at 6 seconds after full stacks.
This was still highly enjoyable gameplay nonetheless, Chef Petu didnt disappoint

i quit league before this new season because i felt like i couldn't play what I've wanted to play and be effective (namely tanks as a season 6 Sejuani main) but now i can see that tanks are viable and perhaps even good again. thanks xPetu.

i think that Sterak’s last item would’ve been a better play, it massively benefits from item haste too, it has great AD and Health and the tenacity is infinitely worth against their comp. what do you think?
I made a reddit post day one about ingenious hunter, it's stonks are up this season at the cost of losing 500 gold, it's pretty worth it.

I've been using Ingenious with SS and Unending despair since slogdog, a Yorick main, tested that out, idk his final opinion on that, but against low elo as I'm playing I've been having really good games with that setup, I might finally scape gold lmao. I did think about this with Shen but I didn't feel confident
ive been playing league for 3 years and i just learned that tiamat has an active ability whaaat
33:27 for 3 or 4 frames yasuo got multiplied, there was a lvl 1 and full hp yasuo too

... I learned about Sundered Sky being good on tanks just a couple days ago after finally giving up my anxiety over losing Goredrinker, and I thought about using Ingenious Hunter to reduce its cooldown-I was hesitant...

Hell yeah I was able to fix my terrible mmr with this technology, thank you petu! Just had a 19/2/16 demon game in diamond euw with titanic, sundered sky, unending despair, spirit visage and a bramble vest I couldn't finish in time because I bought an elixir

Ingenious hunter seems insanely good now, so many items benefit from it. Sundered sky, eclipse, sterak, titanic, zhonya, protobelt, stormsurge and more probably.

should try in a diamond game using both item haste runes with hob or maybe spellbook for ignite tp swapping. LOL would be funny to see that one also, even in a norm or something

I've been spamming Sundered, Fimbulwinter on Poppy with Ingenious and it feels so good. Doesn't fill the gap for sunderer going, but when it had the stat track I was healing 30-40k health through Sundered each game. Which on a champ with 200 ish Armour/MR is pretty disgusting

been running Ingenious Hunter and Heartsteel first for teh past few games even though it delays waveclear it is super broken! Im running around with 1k Stacks regularly. And even afterwards Titanic and sunfire also strongly benefit from the additional health!

i built those 2 items on sion the moment they were on live servers and they kept me alive for stupid amounts of time

just the other day i had an enemy shen in our game, and we were about to turn a 3v2 gank happening to us in botlane, around into into a triple on our side. but then a depleting healhtbar suspiciously goes white on the enemy adc, and shen comes to ruin the party. my first thought: "xPetu!"
Tried ingenious hunter, sundered sky and unending despair on Xin in aram after watching your video. DUDE wtf ! 45k heal (twice my Soraka, despite their antiheal items), most damage ahead of an Aphelios and tanked way more than enemy Ornn. Funny as hell but broken obviously.
I've been trying something similar to this since i saw a video from minishcap where he uses ingenious with unending despair singed. Maybe a steraks + visage, and changing overgrowth for revitalize to get more healing/shield? ❤
i would build steraks last instead of jaksho petu as it synergizes with some of the items in the build + shen's kit. the tenacity it gives is nothing to scoff at either
Kaenic rookern benefits from ultimate hunter too! You should have shield up every 9 sec or so

nice to have Shen with power again. That first Q flash dive at the start- was there a way out in hindsight? like avoiding Q entirely with flash and taunting darius back to tower range and kiting without attacking? I know it's easier said than done, just for future reference

I tried shen with sundered sky, undending despair and spirit Visage in Aram which surprisingly turnout strong as hell lol. Tks for Petu for bringing such beautiful entertainment shen build xD

I think spirit visage would have been a better choice here for last item, get some magic resist for diana and it buffs your: shield bash, passive, ult, healing from sundered sky and unending despair
I was thinking SV too, but think about the fact that jak-sho gives you a ton of bonus armor and mr at the end of 5 seconds. Jaksho would give shen 100 armor + 65 MR including the bonuses with 210ish armor (105 of which is base) at that point. I think it's pretty close in value though - it's hard to calculate between passive sheilds, sheild bash, and increased healing which is better.
