- Whilst at FJRS I had a look around this low mileage MR290 Clubsport Focus ST which they are selling on behalf of a customer. I’d love to but it, but not at that price unfortunately.

What a clean, tidy example just how I like to try and keep my cars. Not a fan of polished chrome bits in the engine bay, but we all have different tastes 👍 Loving the content 👌
Yea if I bought it I’d be taking that engine bay back to 99% OE spec and I’d add the Mountune airbox too.
That's a stunning example, I miss my STM290. Mine was in the blue with the leather (I shouldn't have crashed mine). Going to be a great buy for someone. Thank you for doing a video on this beauty mate.
Ah I bet you were gutted about that 😥 As I’ve said I’d love to buy it but just can’t sacrifice that much for it 😩
Clean and kind of original. Very nice example
Totally agree preface lift in orange , lovely car 👍🏻
Love your latest videos fantastic content..
Thanks so much!
Ive got a electric orange focus st now, 06 plate, had a fully respray so no lacquer peel, 69k on clock wi fsh never failed a mot, full maxton kit, rs clutch 550 injectiors, stage 2 ic iridium plugs, block mod done, engine rebuilt @60k , runs lovely quite a fast car running a dreamscience imap stratagem, gets alot of attention an complements, sports cat wi cat bk cobra exhaust.. Expensive to run as my daily but worth it for the 2.5 5pot sound,,, next will be a cp300 from collins performance,
What an absolute belter this is. I agree that the pre face lift looked better from the front.
I to had a sea grey ST on a 58 plate from new. Face lift model though. With the MK4 I drive today the MK 2 5 pot was just simply awesome 👌 Great video 📹 😀 👌
Hi mate thanks for the comment! I also had a facelift ST in Sea Grey too, sold it last year. Can’t beat the 5 pot but the Mk4 is still a cracking car 👌🏻
E not l9ng brought a st in sea grey love it i reckon its the cheapest in the uk running 👍👍👍
I had the pre-facelift ST in orange before I got my RS (in green obviously!)
Absolutely loved it! So sad to sell it but had to to fund the RS.
Mine was totally standard though & if I was paying this sort of price (which I wouldn’t 😄) I’d want a standard original one. Not a fan of the engine bay bling but each to their own.
I agree - I’d pay 10k for this maybe 11k. I’d then get the engine bay back to its original state with a Mountune airbox setup. I’d get the OE wheels back on, remove the mud flaps and change the grills etc at the front back to the standard grey too. Never been a huge fan of RS vents on ST’s too but I guess they do assist with cooling at the end of the day.
@@CarFocused
Yep, totally agree 👍🏻
Morning mate great to see a really rare clubsport mk2 and an EO in that condition with that mileage too! 👌🏻
A mate has an ST500 and we both prefer the PFL like you say more aggressive.
Love a 5 pot especially with an uprated exhaust just wish I could afford it! 😂👍🏻
Yea I love the PFL front end. I do however prefer the rear of the facelift - mainly the tailgate and the LED tail lights. But yes this car is a real peach. Very well specced, low mileage beauty 😊
@@CarFocused I prefer the OEM plus look like your RS and what I’m trying to achieve with my ST180. My mate’s fitted the led rear lights to his ST500 as they do look much better.
Think there were only 2 or 3 at Ford Fair last year including his!
I do miss this car, absolutely fantastic car
She’s a beauty!
@@CarFocused yeah and watching this video brings back a lot of memories. Humm where can I find the money!?
Very nice, like the st3 in the same colour.
Lovely car. Always wanted to MR290 mine back in the day but could never afford it unfortunately. Used to go out for drives with a guy that had an MR290 ST500 which was pretty nice... but those seats were super red haha!
Shame I couldn’t drive it as I’m very intrigued to see how it feels, particularly on the Clubsport suspension! The coloured seats aren’t the greatest are they haha. ST3 leather is the one ideally 👌🏻
@@CarFocused yeah I definitely prefer the leather personally!
Lovely car, really nice to see, I could do with the clubsport suspension for mine, rocking horse do dar 😆
Must be near impossible to get now I guess!😥
Now that is a nice mk2 st I miss mine
I bet you do. At least you had one 😊
Looks lovely however I had Team Dynamics and they cracked around the spokes...
Very nice example, but it needs some of the visual mods removed to be worth what’s being asked for it. I agree the prefacelift STs are the best.
Totally agree Keith. If I owned it, I would return 90% of the visuals back to OE spec. I’d say as it stands it’s worth around 10 - 11k. 15k is too much for me. It’s a lovely car though. I really want it myself 😂
@@CarFocused I didn't want to me tion the price, but I was thinking the same. Also needed to be an ST3 really. The stereo is wrong for the car too, that combo should have a red illuminated mileage display. Picky, but collectors will be.
@@keithstapleton7805I remember my PFL having the older Sony unit with the green backlit mileage display so know what you mean. Mine also had the silver backed xenon’s rather than the black. Were the black added on the later 2007 PFL cars?
@@CarFocused black lights were fitted on 56 plate cars onwards, Nigel’s has black not silver lights on that reg, his also has green illumination not red. Mine was an 07 and black lights and green illumination. Only 57 cars had red illumination and an oval Sony stereo yet were prefacelift, then 08 was facelift. Complicated enough 😂
@@keithstapleton7805haha! Mine was a 56 plate and had the silver lights - must have been an early one pre crossover! Black does look better though 👌🏻 I prefer the FL tailgate - the PFL ones and too smooth and it makes them look bigger I think.
Great looking car, the kind I like to buy.
Looks like the owner needs to learn how to check for tyre wear, looking at the regular MOT failures
Yea seems to have just been stored and then driven to the testing station but the tyres weren’t changed between the two failures it had for some reason.
What a bloody lovely motor that is….🧡
It really is isn’t it. I want it 😂
@@CarFocused well you know what to do 😂
@@stephenhankey9684 too expensive for me mate! If it were 4k cheaper maybe!
@@CarFocused to be fair it’s too good for a daily anyways….
Nice car really is, but buying an older car is something I won't do again. I went older when I bought my mk1 focus rs and while I lived the car things started to wear out! The mk2 focus st is fantastic as I've owned one myself but at 14k it's worth spending a bit more to get the rs in my opinion. After 10years without a fast Ford I've come full circle buying the mk4 focus st last week and must say such a nice drive even in stock form
Yea you have to expect maintenance with an older car and it can get quite disheartening when it’s being fixed a lot! But I do like the idea of this car with it being such a low miler. Mk4 ST is a really good car, very capable 👌🏻
@@CarFocused I've been watching all of the older videos on dreamscience mk4 focus, what would be your pick? I don't want to fall into the trap of having a too fast car to enjoy on normal roads, 340i I had previous was 400bhp and really couldn't exploit the power nearly enough
@@johnjackson2349 the DS map felt nice and smooth and definitely gave it some decent extra grunt. But realistically even standard is enough power on the public roads.
@@CarFocused you are right, to be fair it does feel pretty well sorted as standard, extra grunt will happen at some point but for now I'm really enjoying the standard package, really good alrounder 👍
Looks brand new that car.Bargain! 🔥
It does!
Asking a lot of money for it but if someone is just looking for a summer car and to keep it garaged it's ideal as I reckon the value will increase if the mileage is kept low.
Ref the mods a lot of people don't realise that if you spend 5k on mods the value of the car goes up by 5k but that's not the case. Good luck to the seller though.
I’m watching with interest as I’m keen to know if it will sell at the advertised price. Lovely car though 😊
@@CarFocused
I reckon 12.5k max you will have to let us know the sold price 😉
such a good example
Really is mate.
Nice money can buy you anything shame im skint....... would love this on my drive....
😢😢
I got rid my 2010 focus st3 for a mk3 focus rs and tbh I’d rather have my st back it was much more fun. Unfortunately I won’t sell the rs as I’ve spent a fortune on it and will never see the money back.
Interesting to hear that mate. There is something about a Mk2! Love my Mk2 RS and I too had a Mk3 RS 👍🏻
Like the st but can’t beat the wide arched RS
Yea the RS is the one but also love a clean ST 👌🏻
Got one on an 06 plate , pre face lift , totally standard, mines on 63000 miles , just passed mot today . Mine is suffering with lacquer peel , obviously electric orange .
Very common issue isn’t it, and such a shame as EO can be a hard one to colour much of not done well.
@@CarFocused it is a shame , I’m hoping to have a full respray on mine in the near future , hoping in a few years, it will be worth quite a bit of money . Mine is the ST 3 as well 5 door .
Orange colour is too much for me but that's such a nice example
It’s definitely in your face but I’ve always had a soft spot for EO cars 😊
can your seat leon cupra take 5 adults comfortably
I never have 5 people in my car. I probably haven’t had 5 people in any of my cars since 2003…
Most st mk2 dont had 3 seatbelts in the back 😮
Very rare example
Definitely. The Clubsport goodies add to the exclusivity too.
Got a 3 door Sea Grey ST225 and it's a nice car but just getting too old now and they seem full of problems no-one knows the answer to and then there's the side skirts always working loose.
They are getting on like you say - they require a lot of TLC to keep them in shape. I wouldn’t want to daily one now unless it was a low mile, well cared for example such as this one.
What issues have you had as not long brought my one. I reckon cheapest one in the uk running
The facelift looks more aggressive
It’s a matter of opinion but I think the PFL looks more menacing from the front. Facelift rear looks better for sure 👍🏻
Be even better if it were an mr310
Been a year since I sold my Mk2 ST for a 335d.. still miss it 😢
I bet you don’t miss the fuel consumption!
😂😂Was thinking the same
I'm really not a fan of black wheels, the front looks dated & those orange mudflaps...😱😱😱. Still a lovely motor though & talking about motors that Volvo 5 pot has a reputation for being very thirsty, obviously not having owned one I don't know but given the price of fuel.....
Yea as I’ve said if I owned the car I’d be putting the original wheels back on and make the appearance of the car look almost standard. They are thirsty you’ll average around high 20’s with mixed driving. Low 20’s with spirited driving and low to mid 30’s when cruising.
@Car Focused not that bad then. I've got a 2018 ST & I get over 40mpg but the majority of my mileage is dual carriageway, it's very easy to hammer that with some "enthusiastic" driving.
Did I hear you right £14,000
It’s actually £14,999
Nice motor, but all things considered about 4k overpriced
I would have to agree. Shall I chuck an offer in?!🙈
@@CarFocused I'm guessing they would probably laugh at an offer like that😂 but at the end of the day the market dictates the price, so might have to discount it a tad. It's a shame it's so modified really, would be an absolutely mint example if standard. Each to their own though.
@@CarFocused yep, buy it. I'll be on the lookout for a 2nd next year. You could bang 10k miles on it and I'd buy it back for around same price you paid for it (providing you standardised it) 😉
16000 miles way to high for me 😂
😂😂
Pre facelifts are much better. The facelift looks too similar to an every day focus.
God no, pre facelifts look horrible and dated, facelifts are far better lookin. No contest.
@@u04pww2 most cars in general, I agree with this. But not with the MK2 Focus ST. Facelift is too similar to a normal focus.
@@liamsutcliffe473 that doesn't make any sense, the PFL was just a normal focus with bodykit and the FL is just a normal facelift with bodykit.
@@u04pww2 it does make sense. The pfl looks different. The fl looks like a normal focus, despite the fact that they are both focuses with body kits. It’s not hard to see the difference unless you’re blind mate 😂
@@liamsutcliffe473 I'm blind yet you can't tell the difference between a normal focus and an ST 😂
