I'm vegan today because I saw three pigs that were slautered hanging from a tree (draining blood) when I got off the school bus at 13 years old. These were my Grandfather's pigs. I had feed them and never thought what was coming. This was so traumatizing for me. I still didn't stop eating meat until I was 35 years old. I believed what people said about not having protein and we have to eat meat to survive. Children should know the facts but I'm not sure when to tell them. So glad I don't eat meat now.

Humans are designed to eat meat, if they don't eat meat they have to take vitamins to cover what they don't get in their veggies. People grew up for thousands of years killing, skinning and eating meat and fish. Its not gross if you do it every day to survive. Its only gross for people who are removed from real life. I get good grass fed beef and good, happy pork from a farmer near by. I get fresh eggs and farm raised chickens from a local chicken rancher. Its the reality of the world, some animals eat other animals. Vegan's are trying to indoctrinate people to be like them, while they eat fake meat to simulate being human. Ironic ain't it.

    • @Prancer0210

@@obijuan3004 Actually; in the beginning when God created Adam and Eve; God gave them a garden full of fruits and vegetables; not dead animals to eat. I'm vegan; I don't take ANY vitamins or medications and I'm healthier than everyone else in my family; that are not vegan; they eat lots of meat and dairy and they're on lots of medications. So that kind of proves your theory wrong to me.
And it's the factory farming industry that injects the animals with growth hormones and antibiotics that are unhealthy. Smaller family farms like you go to are generally not cruel to their animals like in the disgusting factory farming industry.

    • @obijuan3004
      @obijuan3004 Год назад

@@Prancer0210 You can't disprove what I say with anecdotal evidence of one sick family. Its not the meat that is making your family sick its their whole diet. My grandparents ate LOTS AND LOTS of meat and they lived into their 90's with zero operations. One of the oldest American's who lived to 116, said the secret to a long life is eating bacon, which she ate everyday.
The scientific fact is that the human body has evolved to eat meat, you have acid in your stomach that dissolves meat and bile from your liver to break down fats into fatty acids, as nutrition. You could live on meat alone like many tribes have done.
if you don't eat meat you have to AT LEAST get B-12 from some type of supplement. Many vegan's need calcium, zinc, vitamin D, Omega 3's, and other supplements to make up for not eating meat, because we are meat eaters too.

And although their kids love animals and watch Peppa Pig, they feed their kids murdered dead animal corpses, which contain the fear, stress, anxiety, suffering, and violence that the animals experienced before being killed. People would rather be ignorant and oblivious to all the animal's pain and suffering than to actually give up their precious, beloved meat. They have absolutely zero compassion or sympathy for these poor creatures. It's much easier to remain that way than to open up their eyes. In this world we live in today, it's all about me, myself and I. Nothing else matters, it's selfishness to the extreme.

@@donnabrooks1173 I don't think kids who say they love animals are cold-hearted liars. I think they're trapped in a system where dining on the dead bodies of animals is automatically mainstream and accepted as norm so much that it's not even questioned. Then they grew up to become adults who don't realize that their actions, this way of life that they've inherited, is contradictory to what is deep within their hearts. It's true that some people are cold-hearted and don't care when faced with the reality, but I don't think it's accurate to say that's everyone. I think a lot of people are misinformed and just don't take the time to really think about their life choices in regards to animals. There's a difference between someone who is truly ignorant, but would be open to new information/ changing their ways and someone who is presented with new information but would rather stay ignorant, choose to stay closed-minded and not change.

Yes, most definitely kids all ages need to see the truth about animals, what they're eating and how it got to be in their plate. I wish this info had been giving to me when I was a kid, I would've made better choices in my life, be healthier, awakened spiritually decades ago, would've been in a much better place than I am now.

She's right though. Most people don't really care. Even watching movies like Dominion and similar shows won't stop the majority of people.
They aren't ready to change so they easily disconnect emotionally from the horror of the industry. Maybe if they were reminded everyday it would impact them sooner.
Change takes time and as more people change, the less acceptable it'll be to eat animals.
Remember when people weren't allowed to smoke in restaurants and work places ( in the US)? How much smokers grumbled? Now they don't think twice about going outdoors to smoke. Many actually don't smoke in their homes now.
Human slavery? How many centuries did it take to outlaw that? Yes it still occurs but it's still illegal in most countries (except at Amazon and other work places). Unionize! Protect yourself!

I think the younger the better. As kids get older a lot of them try to fit in with their friends to be accepted and that is when they will start to get into bad habits and conditioning. The kids will then go on to educate their indoctrinated parents who if they love and respect their kids they will listen to them. Kids are wiser than we give them credit for. Our children are our future teach them well and let them lead the way in what is good and what is right.

I would never eat an animal!!" and everyone started laughing at me. my uncle explained I was eating one right now, and had been my whole life and I began freaking out, crying and refusing to eat. meat eaters claim vegans push our diets on children yet will sit and laugh at a child who is horrified their family has been feeding them animals. I do not think you need to show young children slaughterhouse footage but it should definitely be explained, and they should be given a choice if possible.

I'm 76 and when I was about age six or seven I watched three pigs being slaughtered and butchered. I remember the smell, the sounds of screaming pigs and the huge tubs of bloody pig's insides and fat for rendering. It still haunts me to this day. I haven't eaten meat since 1986. Before that I didn't know not eating meat was an option. I was brain washed by the meat and dairy industry as well as our government to believe I would die if I didn't. Not eating meat or dairy has been the best single thing I've ever done for myself and, of course, the animals. I just don't understand how people can say they love animals but support the wholesale slaughter of 80 billion animals per year worldwide and one million chickens per day in the United States. It's just mind boggling.

Good film and questions. I don't think it is necessary though to show children the horrors of the actual slaughter and death (that would traumatise me) but it is perfectly possible to have an honest discussion with them about the love of animals, baby animals, etc, and then explain to them the reality of what happens to all those animals so that people can eat meat, and how that isn't actually necessary for us to be healthy and that we wouldn't want that kind of ending for our pets and neither should we want it for the billions of animals bred in factory farms. Also make the link with children about the flesh in plastic wrappers in the supermarket and the little baby animals they love seeing running around; we just don't need to be graphic and gratuitous about it.

We all deserve to know the truth about factory farming of animals. The younger the better. We should not under estimate young kids. They have a way of dealing with life as its presented to them in what ever way that is and cope with the facts in their own individual way. We can be traumatised by all events which happen in our lives. The truth is always going to come out in the end, and when it does those who have been lied to will always have wanted to know the truth how ever horrible and cruel. Fantasy films and cartoon characters do not exist in the real world. The real world can be a wonderful and magical place and also a very cruel and dark place. When we know and realize this we can then manage our lives in a healthy and well balanced way based on truth. When we know better, we can be better.

I watched Dominion as an adult and even though I looked away during the actual slaughter, I still listened and watched the rest and went vegan overnight. As you said Klaus, if it’s not good enough for our eyes why is it good enough for our stomach, and so I think kids should be shown it. They can still look away, and as it was for me, sometimes listening is enough. As traumatising as it is to witness, it’s not as bad as it is for the animals, and unfortunately many (myself included) will only change when they SEE it. I knew about the horrors of the egg industry for years but only when I saw it in Dominion did I go vegan
