It wasn’t until I became a Paramedic and watched it did I hear them working through the arrest and other then being out of sequence, and the shockable “flat line” it was otherwise pretty spot on.
Yeah that’s pretty much true for most of Paul Verhoeven’s films. I can’t think of another director who can take an ultra violent scene and make it as funny as he does. A couple scenes that stand out are ED-209 blowing away the business man and the civilian on the escalator in Total Recall getting shot to hell and then getting thrown by Arnold at the bad guys.

I also read on the wiki that RoboCop is still vulnerable to brain damage such as concussions since he retained his organic brain. Watch the scene in RoboCop 2 where Hob shoots RoboCop's visor with a .44 caliber Desert Eagle (yes, that gun is available in different calibers). You'll see his HUD malfunction and the way his head moves from the bullet's impact indicates he is dazed long enough to allow Cain's Nuke cult to severely damage him. In the first film, Clarence uses a customized .357 Desert Eagle with a threaded muzzle that allowed for the attachment of a silencer to shoot Bob Morton in both legs before blowing up his house with a grenade.
Also in the 2nd movie when Robocop first goes after Cain, he is hit in the head with a hooked chain and he is stunned long enough for them to strap him down so they could disassemble him
well, makes sense right? he still kinda has his memories doesn't he? if i remember correctly, he still has his brain, some spine, and his heart. i think in one of the not so great sequels they even try to effectively say he's "alive" again, just with the robot body. don't quote me, i've only ever re-watched the first one so anything not in that movie i might have just made up when i was a kid.

When you were showing the guy who got dosed with the toxic waste, the actor who played the character, Paul McCrane, also played Dr. Robert Romano on the show "ER", interesting as, in the case of "ER", Dr. Robert Romano dies in a freak accident as a helicopter fell off the roof and Dr. Robert Romano was crushed by the helicopter. Ironically, Dr. Robert Romano died that way, as he had his arm cut off, as it got too close the the propeller blades of a helicopter, in a previous episode.

The scene in Robocop 2 where Officer Duffy gets sliced open with a scalpel. Not to mention Duffy screaming for his life. "You said you were just going to scare him" "Doesn't he look scared?"
The Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) death scene (don't want to spoil it for you in case you haven't seen the whole movie yet. And if you haven't, WHY NOT?).

@DoctorER This brings back memories... Little known fact tho... The editors had to cut 10 seconds of material from the film to avoid an 'X' rating for violence (back in the day of course). 3 seconds of Murphy staring at the remains of his hand after Clarence shoots it off. The rest was just more of the ED-209 shooting up Mr. Kinney in the boardroom scene.
Aw man, Robocop is one of my all time favourites, had you never seen it before? If you want to keep the Verhoeven train going you should react to Starship Troopers! There's a gas bit where a dude gets shot in the head and is clearly killed instantly but the main character shouts MEDIC!!!!
They just don't make films like that anymore. It was definitely way ahead of it's time considering it was 1987. I really enjoyed your medical oversight.
fun fact the guy that did the special effects for the guy melting worked with Rick Baker on The Incredible Melting Man which is why it turned out so good
Murphy stayed alive as long as he did cause of both the body armour and the thugs intentionally avoided shooting him in the head or vital organs to ensure hed suffer as long as possible before they finally finished him off. The "toxic" waste could also be radio active causing excelletraed cell growth in addition to burns but it would have to be something highly radioactive.
people have been shot lots of times and lived. Adrenal reaction in combat can make one shrug off injuries. look up Yogendra Singh Yadav, Roy P. Benavidez,
A very brief scene from Terminator 2 was shown here. I want to ask the doctor this: I was discussing Terminator with a friend and she said that the flesh would die because skin is not some suit you wear like clothing its a living organ and it needs the other organs like lungs, heart, kidneys etc to sustain it and constant nourishment and the endoskeleton of T800 is not shaped in such a way to support all of those internal organs and that the skin would die pretty quickly and rot and you would have basically what looks like a ZOMBIE walking around. Creepy.
that's... something i never thought about. no i think she's on to something. i assume we're just supposed to assume that there's some sci-fi whosawatchit keeping it alive. i don't think it HAS to be organs and stuff. probably at least blood. huh. it's a good thought, and i'd like to know for sure too!
@@miguelnewmexico8641 There is a series of books called "The science of" then one more word. One is "The science of Star Wars". Another is "The science of Star Trek" and "The Science of super heroes" etc. I would love to see "The Science of Terminator". By the way, if only LIVING tissue can time travel (being SURROUNDED by it counts hence the Terminator being able to time travel) then what about hair and finger nails and the very top layer of skin cells? Those are technically NOT ALIVE. Maybe the "aura" of the human body extends a tiny fraction of an inch to include them. It is an explanation of how Superman's costume is usually not damaged as his aura protects anything within a tiny fraction of an inch of his body from harm (but it does not protect his cape which keeps getting torn). If that is the case then you would think the time travelers could wear SPANDEX or something to avoid the danger of getting arrested for indecent exposure after the time travel?
Most firearms are drop safe. Especially if the hammer is already down. Pump action shotguns with internal hammers are not drop safe. Everything else for the most part is. Granted you still dont want to throw a gun, but were gonna drop them cuz were human so theyre designed to handle it. If you think throwing it on the ground will break it then you have to realise that throwing it on the ground is a walk in the meadow compared to the explosion they control.
You ought to react to injuries from the old MTV showed Scarred. Such as the skater who broke both ankles in episode 4 for example. That looked painful.
im waiting for this guy to react to L4D2 special infected injuries, i wonder if the charger could actually be able to crush you for a long time, or he just breaks your bones instantly.
4:22 The script was for Robo to go for the shot to the perp's face with his machine precision, rightvpast the hostage. But during rehearsals the director noticed how the actress instinctively flailed her legs, pretending to struggle to get away. So he had the idea for the more jolting shot between them to the perp's dangly bits.
I know this is strictly about injuries and wounds, but the one at 5:18. When they finally make the robot stop one of the very next lines is "Somebody want to call a goddamn paramedic?" Which the director of the film thought was completely absurd, there's no coming back from that. Was hoping you'd cover the scene when Murphy is rushed to the ER after he'd been maimed. I think they hired real medics and they went through the motions as if it were a real victim.
When Robocop was being tortured before he became a robot ,He was wearing soft armor likely level 3A designed to stop up to 44 magnum and 12 gauge buckshot which is what they’re shooting. They can sometimes take A LOT of shotgun rounds without penetration especially pellets like buckshot. The way it went down in the movie is terrifyingly realistic as the back face trauma from the energy of the shots being stopped would be very painful but not kill you since the vest is still stopping the rounds
Also 99% of modern guns are very ‘drop safe’, have internal hammer and firing pin blockers and internal safeties to keep from firing from being dropped. Gun companies don’t want lawsuits from guns firing without pulling the trigger
Ah it's a good day when you react to movie scenes and break it all down. I would be very interested to see a reaction/break down of the first Predator movie at some point in the future. It's a family favorite!
Robocop is one of the greatest movies ever. At face value, yeah, it's a great 80s action movie. Look a little deeper, though, and there's so much social commentary that's still relevant today.
In the directors cut that scene with ED 209 and Kenny goes on for about 15-20 seconds. I think ED 209 was equipped with 30 caliber machine guns. That many rounds, there'd be no saving him. I always thought it was funny that someone yells.."somebody wanna call a paramedic!" 😆 for what? You need the M.E
To answer the vest question, according to my husband (who did security work for ten years and whose dad is a former police sergeant), the level of the vest would most likely be around 3A, which is most often used for handgun protection. Shotgun would be pushing your luck, but it depends. He might survive but with broken ribs and most likely be blown back a couple feet. In addition, if the film had included the deleted scene, you would see Murphy bleeding through the vest. If the first couple of shots were blocked by the vest, then the subsequent shots would have sliced through the vest and reduced his internal organs into chuck (which was apparently stated on his death certificate as "massive internal damage"). Mind you, this is coming from a secondary source. But the point of Murphy's death was for him to be in as much pain as possible before the final shot was taken.
Should I react to more RoboCop scenes? 👀

Loved this!! Terminator 2 had some great scenes as well!
Oh noted! Thanks for watching!
I love this movie so much!!!
RoboCop was awesome! What was your favorite scene?
@@DoctorER RoboCop Stabbing Clearance To The Neck For A Satisfying Pay Back. Also may I request a movie for you please?
They made cartoons and toys from this movie.
My childhood was awesome.
we also had a Rambo cartoon, a Highlander cartoon, and a Toxic Avenger cartoon. thank god we also had Gummi Bears and Care Bears to balance it out or who knows how we would have turned out!
"Они убили Кенни"
"Сволочи"
Бедный Кенни, просто в решето превратил его робот))
I would recommend to check Dredd (2012) as well.
I'd recommend it because it's one of the best action moves of its decade.
I like how “optimistic” this doctor is about each victim being able to survive their respective injuries. 😆
My first VHS-movie I have seen in my life! Toxic Melting is the creepest thing of all!
@DoctorER
This brings back memories...
This video is hilarious. The DR. is so matter of fact
"well give the doc a hand!!"
Soy muy fan tuyo, sigue así y veras que vas a llegar muy lejos 😊
They just don't make films like that anymore. It was definitely way ahead of it's time considering it was 1987. I really enjoyed your medical oversight.
The guy who gets punched right out the window by RoboCop I always assumed that guy was absolutely dead lol 😂😂
“Robocop” should be required viewing for anyone in the medical industry.
The scene where he melts after falling into the toxic waste just goes to show someone doesn't get super powers doing that. Just many horrific burns.
fun fact the guy that did the special effects for the guy melting worked with Rick Baker on The Incredible Melting Man which is why it turned out so good
This doctor is awesome!
Benavidez,
More likely it was a super base like hydrazine or hydrogen peroxide which, if you’re doused in high amounts will turn you to jelly.

And no doubt Emil was exposed to vast amounts of said chemicals.
A very brief scene from Terminator 2 was shown here. I want to ask the doctor this:
I was discussing Terminator with a friend and she said that the flesh would die because skin is not some suit you wear like clothing its a living organ and it needs the other organs like lungs, heart, kidneys etc to sustain it and constant nourishment and the endoskeleton of T800 is not shaped in such a way to support all of those internal organs and that the skin would die pretty quickly and rot and you would have basically what looks like a ZOMBIE walking around. Creepy.
that's... something i never thought about. no i think she's on to something. i assume we're just supposed to assume that there's some sci-fi whosawatchit keeping it alive. i don't think it HAS to be organs and stuff. probably at least blood. huh. it's a good thought, and i'd like to know for sure too!
I love how he's reacting like he has never seen it before lol
The boss guy called Richard Jones is my name lol
I work for Dick Jones, he's OCP!!
i love that DICK Jones is played by Ronnie COX. remember this folks, and always bring it up whenever you get the chance.
“Ohhhh my god, this is awful” 😂😂😂😂
This video is bomb but I would like to see a video about the Terminator
From what 80s movies taught me is that if you're a good guy, bullets are never fatal for you - AS LONG as you're the good guy.
or the secret real bad guy.
I need to watch RoboCop too!
He's acting like he's never seen Robo before.
This Dr. has an action packed scenario in His hands😆.
Ah it's a good day when you react to movie scenes and break it all down. I would be very interested to see a reaction/break down of the first Predator movie at some point in the future. It's a family favorite!
Dead or alive your coming with me
Damn Red Forman was really mean
Robocop is one of the greatest movies ever. At face value, yeah, it's a great 80s action movie. Look a little deeper, though, and there's so much social commentary that's still relevant today.
this is one of my favoroite movies
In the directors cut that scene with ED 209 and Kenny goes on for about 15-20 seconds. I think ED 209 was equipped with 30 caliber machine guns. That many rounds, there'd be no saving him. I always thought it was funny that someone yells.."somebody wanna call a paramedic!" 😆 for what? You need the M.E
Yeah, I think even being an organ donor is out the window by that point.
5:25; Good disclaimer, Dr. Wagner!
