I wish I could have seen this 25 years ago when my Grey was a baby- I feel so bad now bc I never realized how stressed he was in some situations.

The African Grey might be the perfect choice for someone with the skills to understand their incredible intelligent and complex behavior. Like all parrots in captivity the should not be kept in cages during the day, but have a specific room inside and outside their home where the can fly and chew on safe parrot wood perches and toys made from this wood. Similar to the Amazon parrot, neither species really enjoys too much human touch, head and neck massages, or wrestling, although there are always exceptions. when it comes to parrots! Although I have had the pleasure of keeping an African Gray, my preference is the large Macaw. Macaws align perfectly with my temperament and desire to wrestle and play with them each day. Parrots might be the best lifetime human companion imaginable for any human with the skills and desire to dedicate their life to them.

So well stated! And very true, I have a conure, well trained and perfect fit for me, I know a person that has had a grey for bout 8 years, he doesn't know how to train the beautiful bird, he used to at least handle him and let the grey out of his cage, he got married to a woman that also knows nothing about this grey and now, he (the owner) doesn't handle him, Ive had parrots of different species since I was young, so I think Im going to go over there and show them , without insulting them) if they will let ne, I should start at the very least , teach this beautiful grey target training and have them watch, baby steps, then I could really help them understand their grey, do you think that's a good idea, ? I would be careful of their feelings, and make sure they understand how to train and handle him, with kit gloves, not really gloves of course, I know so much, I think the grey deserves this, I then would make sure they are involved, what do ya think? I have trained, and handled larger birds before🙏🎉♥️

I have a congo grey. I am his 3rd owner. His first owner got him to breed and a baby. He sold him after 2 years to a man that that knew nothing about parrots and he was never at home. When I got him he was almost 4 years old. I have had him 2 years so he is almost 6 years old now. He does not talk. He makes a lot of noise and has learned several songs by whistling. He is so smart and loving. Do you think he might ever learn to talk since his first two owners never tried to get him to talk. Either way he is my precious baby.

I just adopted 2 CAG and they came from awful situations. One is 20yr old female Bundi & the other is 17yr old male Cesar. They haven't been out of their cages in years. The females 2nd owner (I am #4) used to lock her in a closet & she's been plucking ever since, 10yrs as far as I was told. She actually seems pretty sweet but doesn't want anything hands on, I can see bonding with her in the near future. The male, Cesar is very aggressive, territorial & non trusting. They were on an all seed diet, I'm slowly converting them to pellets & organic produce, mash & chop. I let them out of their cages every day & they stay on their individual cages, I ordered some bird stands so I can get them away from their cages a month ago, it helps. can you do a video on taming older aggressive birds, maybe more people would be willing to adopt parrots in need. I am committed for life, but any help is greatly appreciated! ❤
    Thank you for this video!!

For the Poll… TAG vs CAG.
Yes, it does have something to do with availability in the trade, but it is a more dark reason for it. The Availability of each in the wild is about the same. In the wild, the Congo is in the millions, whereas the Timneh is about 3-5 hundred thousands.

How many weeks old must an African grey be before we bring it home. Thanks Kumar

Most breeders wean them between 3-4 months. Ideally they should be supplemented with handfeeding for a longer period while they transition to eating on their own. In the wild, they are supplemented by their parents for much longer than 4 months.
