    I have an african grey..been with me for 15 years. They attatch themselves to 1 person only. She has never bit me or is even capable of doing so because of her nature. It is different with other people though..nobody can touch her without her biting them. I have her cage in my room..and in the morning she'll climb down..crawl onto my bed and slip under the blankets to lay down and go to sleep next to me.

    Interesting note about Alex, the parrot who asked what color he was, is that he would apparently often ask the question and the researchers always answered "grey." Since he didn't seem to ever absorb the answer to his question, it could indicate that he didn't really understand the nature of what he said. Like you said though, it's somewhat contested.

    • @ThePacificWarChannel
      @ThePacificWarChannel  4 года назад +3

      Yes I would wager myself that its a coincidence and not the bird answering the question.

      Parrots can see other wave length than we do, like ultraviolets.
      Most parrot are very bright, very colorfull, but greys are ... grey !
      Only when you bath them and look at them in the sun, you can see some metallic blue on their feathers, I think the water darkens their color making them more visible to us, color blind humans.
      I think they don't see each other like we do, I think they see themselves more colorfull than we do.
      I'd like to have an african grey under a black light to test this hypothesis.
      So that maybe the reason why Alex couldn't tell his own color ! To him, he's not grey at all ! he's blue !

    • @lisadolan4071
      @lisadolan4071 3 года назад +2

      Alex, like a person liked hearing about them(our)self perhaps. Can't you just picture a little girl saying 'do I look pretty?' Same principal as "what color..."

      @@lisadolan4071 Mine did something weird, but only once: I play lots of jazz, and I will tap my foot or 'dance' or just bop as I walk around the house. When I saw my gray nodding up and down, back and forth, I said, 'You're a cool bird'. To which he responded 'I'm a cool bird'. Now, they usually just repeat exactly what they hear; but this time, he replaced 'you're', with 'I'm'. Concept of self, and describing himself? I don't know.

      There is a grey named Gizmo with about 1 million videos. In one he says “ Birds don’t walk they come by air.” I’d say that shows complex thinking.

      @@ThePacificWarChannel Not just that but stolen from other RUclips videos. Everything from footage of wild greys to famous bird like Petra and Einstein. And some of the script is straight up lifted from other sites as well. I went to go look up George V's parrot and look and behold, the first site I saw had exactly the text in this video.

    • @ThePacificWarChannel
      @ThePacificWarChannel  4 года назад +3

      To answer your point, no, we did not ask for permission to borrow other RUclipsrs' videos or footage of wild greys. Since this is a video made for educational purposes, and since the footage/imagery is used to illustrate or comment on the points being discussed, it can be argued that this is fair use of the content. The borrowed clips are kept relatively short (a few seconds long), barely long enough to give context to the ideas being presented in the overlaid audio. Should any of the RUclipsrs or organizations whose content was borrowed contact us to complain about unauthorized use of their copyrighted material, we would be happy to find ground for understanding (citing, censoring, or else). But none has so far, and if everyone did, not much content would be published on RUclips at all and not many ideas exchanged, as pretty much everything has someone else's work for foundation.

    chinese people are killing these animals en masse for TCM. I'm angry and sad at the same time. and who are buying birds caught in the wild like this? is this still going on have people been educated?

    • @oh_k8
      @oh_k8 3 месяца назад

      The CCP promotes the use of TCM, which is why it doesn't die out. Well educated people may know TCM is mostly junk science, but the majority of China isn't well educated. They're mostly blue collar people.
      On the otherhand, why do western people continue to buy/sell them on the pet trade? That is just as terrible for their conservation.
