This one does absolutely tap into the very common soundtrack style of that era. Every action movie had a bass/electro bass and power beat backing. At the time it was seen as new, groundbreaking (synths) and mainly a reaction to 50 years of orchestral soundtracks. I am fairly certain this was not lost on Roger Taylor when he wrote it and there is a hint of parody and tongue in cheek p-taking, while actually making a half decent song of it.
It’s a brilliant track that really shows that Queen could compose anything. Also, the subject matter is based around the Highlander film but it also applies to real life (don’t lose your head, keep your cool and don’t lead a self destructive lifestyle.) It’s only considered a ‘filler’ song if you’re not of the understanding of the tracks true meaning.
Because it's an average quality Queen track : they have done much better. But Mercury was too lazy in the 80's to compose great music that's why Roger had chances to publish his... strange tracks. I love him as a singer and drumer but his song aren't my cup of tea 😉
jdspreest From Roger, i like tenement funster, modern times rnr, prime jive, fight from the inside, drowse, radio gaga and i'm in love with my car. I had long fights with other Queen fans about the fact i CAN'T love very Queen songs. It's my favorite band of all times but i have to be honest with my opinions. A lot of people try to love something just to proove they are better fans.
+romu7999 I definitely think Roger wrote the weakest songs out of the four. They're just so hard to like. Sure, Radio Gaga was great, but that's only one song. The rest had multiple memorable hits. Sorry Roger.
Don't lose your head Don't lose your head Hear what I say Don't lose your way... Remember, love's stronger Remember love walks tall Don't lose your heart No, don't lose your heart Hear what I say, yeah Don't lose your way Don't lose your way Remember, love's stronger Remember love walks through walls Don't lose your head No, don't lose your head Hear what I say, Don't lose your way, Remember, love's stronger Remember, love conquers all
Love this album to the fullest. Not only because it came out on one of my favorite tv series HIGHLANDER but it also reminds me of fall & winter in my junior high teen years IN THE 90S. Last but not least love Freddie's vocals on this album truly missed for sure.
"Patience, Highlander. You have done well, but it'll take time. You are generations being born and dying. You are at one with all living things. Each man's thoughts and dreams are yours to know. You have power beyond imagination. Use it well, my friend. Don't lose your head." - Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez
Just finished watching Highlander ( again) . Freddie we still miss you . One of truly greatest and most powerful singers of all time . The brightest Star burns the shortest time ♥️
Freddie Is Singing This Whole Song! That's Why He is A Legend!!! The One And Only!!! Freddie Mercury You Keep Resting Peacefull...We Miss You!!! 👑 GOD BLESS!!!
Una de las cosas que me hacen disfrutar Highlander es toda la banda sonora impresionantemente y maravillosamente confeccionada por una de las mejores bandas musicales de toda la historia
Gimme the Prize, Princes of the Universe, and... this, maybe? Queen I had Great King Rat, Liar, Modern Times Rock 'N Roll, Son and Daughter and Doing All Right...
Stone Cold Crazy anyone? Basically Thrash Metal about ten years early, and was actually written in part years earlier! The absolute most metal, though not Queen but Brian May solo is Cyborg. Pure Metal.
I can't hear this without picturing an experienced immortal repeatedly kicking their student's ass in a training montage but also teaching them what really matters in life too.
This is the first Queen album I bought; it was in 1998 when CD's still dominated the music market. Anyway, I remember reading about Joan Armatrading in the liner notes. In fact, she and David Bowie are among the few musicians Queen ever collaborated with. I suppose by being co-vocalists and not backup singers like the chorus on Bohemian Rhapsody or the stompers in we will roick you.
One of the things I loved about Highlander The Series was how they maintained a continuity with the original film by incorporating Queen's music into certain episodes. I remember a First Season episode including this song during one of Duncan's fights against another immortal.
I remember that episode. Against the immortal Felicia who pretended she was a newborn to kill her mentors, and who I now figured out was played by Joan Jett. I was so pumped hearing this play
I am SO pleased they made a special Magic cartoon for Adam. The guy in the film is called Christopher Lambert. When I first played with a logo for my art studio in the 2000's I used the lettering from "A Kind of Magic", but I had no idea the film was about 'Holy Blood Holy Grail' in short. I first saw this movie on VHS, but not the whole thing, because only the fight scene at the end was recorded in front of another movie, to make the most of the tape's length (LOL those days!). So I spent years trying to figure out what that thing was.
Joan Armatrading --> "Don't Lose Your Head" was composed by Taylor and features singer Joan Armatrading in a vocal cameo. --> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Kind_of_Magic
I'm a Queen fan of their harder and edgier music as opposed to their operatic music, which is lost on me. For example, I can't listen to 10 seconds of Bohemian Rhapsody, but love Fight From the Inside or Dragon Attack. This is a great tune as well. Roger wrote some good rock tunes.
😍🤣❤ it's so ironic this part. Roger wrote this part specially to John Deacon, because John drove drunk and the police to get to breathalised. But Roger drove many times drunk too. 🤦♀️😬
Possibly the most ironic but naturally perfect DRINK/DRIVE campaign song anybody could ever hear except for one small thing...... ....the moment you play it inside a great sound system set-up in any car, this amazing song just seems to have a single effect... It makes you want to massively put that PEDAL TO METAL...BIGTIME!!!!!!
I always loose my head for a while when love and passion hits me but I learned my lesson the hard way, never doing that misstake ever again. Love can come slowly.
the vocals on this song, pure brilliance.
..Nessun' altro!!!👑❤
Idk about you but Roger's songs have a strong energy :')
Freddie Mercury was the first Immortal
Look at him now

I believe it
Don't Lose Your Head is the best song of the album. strong harmonization, strong synths, intelligent lyrics, dreamy vocals.
@Evan Bradham then why are you listening to it?
@Evan Bradham it's a great song, better than the whole Queen I and II albums
Hombre ruso de 40 años lmao you serious or I'm missing a joke
@@JourneyLiveCompilations yeah, it's a joke but i really like don't lose your head
Imo is not the best song of the album, but is still great! Very Underrated!
Don't lose your heart! incredible voice! Queen forever!
It screams "80's" from the beggining 'til the end.
This one does absolutely tap into the very common soundtrack style of that era.

At the time it was seen as new, groundbreaking (synths) and mainly a reaction to 50 years of orchestral soundtracks.

Laura Angélica Melo i love queen “ dont lose your head” i love the show with Adrian paul i could watch this show all day. Its so awesome
very 80's synth and very 80's kinda phil collins gated reverb drum sound
And it glorious, don't you think?
Soooo true, absolutely brilliant track 💜💜
Great song and drum sounds from Roger, Deacy’s driving bass, Freddie’s sublime vocals and superbly atmospheric outro solo from Bri….perfect! 👍
It’s a brilliant track that really shows that Queen could compose anything. It's kurgon time😊
The whole album is made in double meaning like this .
The best Queen album for me ! 😊
I don't care what anyone says, this is one of their best. It has an awesome drive and energy.
Totally agree! fantastic song and voice!
Not one of the best but definitely underrated.
Even the tracks from Hot Space don’t dip below the Queen standard. This material certainly doesn’t.
I like Break Thru for similar reasons.
Linked with Highlander's movies
Why would somebody dislike this excellent song?
I reckon it was Janos Slynt
Because it's an average quality Queen track : they have done much better. But Mercury was too lazy in the 80's to compose great music that's why Roger had chances to publish his... strange tracks. I love him as a singer and drumer but his song aren't my cup of tea 😉

I mean technically Anne was a queen
idk why but Rogers songs sound always sooo good and powerful... for me his songs are the best but everybody has their own taste
Meddows!!!, Long time whitout seeing ya
I lost my head with the wembley photo. Pure Freddie Mercury. The most powerful man in the world
Absolutly right👌😎🔥❤💪😇
A Kind of Magic was the first album I ever bought. I remember thinking this track was creepy and weird, but also loving it for its moody atmosphere.
One of the best queen songs. Unfortunately no single and never played live!
One of the songs that drove me crazy as a child. So ethereal. Don't lose your head!! 🤯
Hugely underrated song, Roger Taylor crushing it with the bonus of Joan Armatrading
Absolutely, a great song that has a typical Roger vibe and featuring the great Joan Armatrading.
Don't lose your head
Don't lose your head

Absolutely bloody superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrb!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s my least favorite song on the album as it reminds me of the Bianca story that happened last July and it puts a sick feeling in my stomach.

most metal album queen ever had
Gimme the Prize, Princes of the Universe, and... this, maybe?
Queen I had Great King Rat, Liar, Modern Times Rock 'N Roll, Son and Daughter and Doing All Right...
Yeah, Queen's earlier albums had more heavier rock tracks, versus the 80s when they did more pop and diverse styles.
The first 2 or 3 albums were the heaviest.
Queen II is probably the heaviest album. And the best.
Stone Cold Crazy anyone?
Basically Thrash Metal about ten years early, and was actually written in part years earlier!

one hell of a Queen song
this song makes me shiver
An immortal masterpiece.
