This song is proof that a work of art being conventional of its time doesn't make it dated. By no means is this song dated despite being very 80s, because the song's heart and soul doesn't rely on the era's trends, it relies on its themes, and its musicality.
@@salvomarchi2761 That doesn't mean the song relied on it- It was a huge hit even when it came out, hitting top 40 charts all over Europe as well as the US and Canada, even managing to hit #1 in Ireland at one point. Shrek 2 used it for a reason, mate.

It looks like she found one in real life. Tyler married property developer and 1972 Olympic judo competitor Robert Sullivan on 14 July 1973. They have no children; Tyler miscarried when she was aged 39.[117] Since 1988, Tyler and her husband have owned a five-bedroom home in Albufeira in the Algarve.[118] Tyler had recorded one of her albums there in the late 1970s, and the couple spends much of the year there.[119] In 2005, Tyler was filmed in the Algarve for the Polish entertainment TV show Zacisze gwiazd, which explores the houses of actors and musicians.[120] Tyler and Sullivan have invested in real estate. As of a 1999 interview, they owned farmland in Portugal and New Zealand, 22 houses in Berkshire and London, and 65 stables offering horse boarding services.[121][122] In a 2013 interview, Tyler stated that the farm in New Zealand had been converted to a dairy farm twelve years after they purchased the land. In the same interview, she also stated that she and Sullivan also own a quarry.[123]

@@TOBY-jy7bz Hey, what is this all about? I listened these songs when I was a kid in Mongolia and they were in Mongolian and all the relatives danced all around the steppe. And you say that they were originally in Spanish?
Spot on. These are from the 80s but maan did they over use them in movies, especially in early 2000s. Bonus fact, all 3 of these songs are in the 2nd Angry Birds movie.
Bonnie Tyler didn’t write the song. Jim Steinman and Dean Pritchford wrote. Steinman is famous for the Songs he wrote for Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell album.
If you like this song you should try other Steinman songs, he’s famous for this kind of bombastic, huge, Wagnerian drama in his songs, the operatic part was probably never as pronounced in any other of his songs as this one though which is probably why it’s so frequently used.
Unfortunately, singing like this had its effect on her vocal chords--i watched a video of her singing from a few years ago, a d it sounded like she'd come off a 20-year smoking addiction.

I'm holding out for a hero till the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
Larger than life
Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It's gonna take a Superman to sweep me off my feet
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast

I'm holding out for a hero till the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the night
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I could swear that there's someone somewhere watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach like a fire in my blood
(Like a fire in my blood, like a fire in my blood)

No wonder this song was covered by several metal bands!

This song is proof that a work of art being conventional of its time doesn't make it dated. By no means is this song dated despite being very 80s, because the song's heart and soul doesn't rely on the era's trends, it relies on its themes, and its musicality.
Also applies to Shrek 2
Also relies on being part of Shrek 2, as soundtrack for an epic battle.
People discovered it that way.

Legend has it, she is still holding out..
It looks like she found one in real life. Tyler married property developer and 1972 Olympic judo competitor Robert Sullivan on 14 July 1973. They have no children; Tyler miscarried when she was aged 39.[117]
Since 1988, Tyler and her husband have owned a five-bedroom home in Albufeira in the Algarve.[118] Tyler had recorded one of her albums there in the late 1970s, and the couple spends much of the year there.[119] In 2005, Tyler was filmed in the Algarve for the Polish entertainment TV show Zacisze gwiazd, which explores the houses of actors and musicians.[120]
Tyler and Sullivan have invested in real estate.

My mom used to love these type of songs in English when I was young growing up in Colombia, and now living in the United States and understanding what these song mean and being able to translate them to my mom it’s such a full circle moment.

Bonnie Tyler really sat down one day and said, "I'm going to write one of the best songs ever made in human history" and wrote Holding out for a hero
She really did that
I listen to this song every single morning
Bonnie Tyler didn’t write the song. Jim Steinman and Dean Pritchford wrote. Steinman is famous for the Songs he wrote for Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell album.
Posty how is the eggscellent challenge
If you like this song you should try other Steinman songs, he’s famous for this kind of bombastic, huge, Wagnerian drama in his songs, the operatic part was probably never as pronounced in any other of his songs as this one though which is probably why it’s so frequently used.
