    I'm so happy to see new videos by you! I really like your film style, it's beautiful and inspiring for me to go out in nature too! Also, your blog was super helpful when I was preparing for a backpacking trip in NZ (I'm from the USA). Thank you for all your hard work and for sharing all these things!

      Thank you Erasmus! I'd love to know what blogs in particular you found helpful for your planning if you'd be willing to share (either here or perhaps via the contact form on my blog). If you think there's anything I can improve on I'd be grateful to hear it. I hope you enjoyed your hiking trip to NZ! Hopefully we'll see you back here soon :)

    So pleased you're back. Looking forward to seeing more of the South. My walking is currently restricted to Germany and Spain - The Camino - the alpine beech forest is so, so different !! Thanks for showing me a slice of home

      Oh Peter I feel for you! You must be missing home so much ❤️. Let's swap places for a bit... I'd love to give the Camino a go 😉

      Thanks Jesse! I have to say I've lost track of your videos a bit, I still have to catch up on your Te Araroa series. I was really enjoying it, but then had some stuff going on which meant I couldn't carry on for a while. Looking forward to getting back to them... although now I'm on the South Island I think they will make me homesick!! 😩😭 Hope you're otherwise doing well :)

    Another great video. Exercise that's good for the soul 😊 Looks like you got a good stair workout too. Were those tramping boots you were wearing instead of trail runners ? Was that to get a better work out cause of the extra weight ?

    • @LongWhiteGypsy
      @LongWhiteGypsy  Год назад

      Thank you! Yes I was using my tramping boots. No, I wasn't carrying any extra weight (except around my midriff lol) so it wasn't for that, just because they keep my feet a bit warmer and drier in cold & wet conditions.

    Will be in Arthur's Pass in a few months, and would love to do some of these walks... but sooooooooooo many steps!!! I don't think my knees can take it 😩

    • @LongWhiteGypsy
      @LongWhiteGypsy  Год назад +1

      Hahaha yes I wasn't expecting all the steps... it's ok if you pace yourself and don't overthink it too much. Honestly, I did this after 18 months of not much physical activity at all.. I was suffering by the end but the knees held up surprisingly well. Don't put too much weight on your back, take it easy, alternate your leading leg and you'll be fine!

    Any sign of sand flies this time of year ? - looking to do QT to Tekapo in a couple of weeks

    • @LongWhiteGypsy
      @LongWhiteGypsy  Год назад

      There was the odd one about, but definitely nothing to be worried about. I was just in Tekapo this past weekend and it was FAR too cold/windy for sandflies. Make sure you're well prepared for the cold and changeable weather... there's a lot of snow on those hills down that way at the moment! I looked out towards Stag Saddle from Tekapo... it looked a pretty picture but I don't think I would have liked to have been up there!
