Thank you all so much for the comments, questions and support! I am starting plans on making some more trips here in Oregon before moving back to Spain later in the year. More to come!
Great scenery, cycling, footage and editing. It's not easy to record yourself while riding and maintain a schedule. In 2022 I rode form Gandia area to Almansa and back, it is gorgeous and stress free riding in the rural Valencia region. Thank you from Canada!.
¡Me ha encantado. Muy chulo el video, muy bien grabado, muy bien editado y excelente la música que acompaña al video. Toda una sorpresa para mi y un deleite para los sentidos! Un saludo.
Great video, no bullshit commentary, nice video choice. Captured the essence of your ride very well. I’ve ridden many of the kms you covered in events, but you made some astute choices for your stops and rest points. Looking forward to more videos. Cheers! Tim
Tim, thank you for the kind words. Great to hear we've overlapped some of these kms ... I'm working on a move to Spain as well. Looking forward to more rides and making more videos once I'm there.
back in 2019 I've travelled from Granada to Valencia on a day by motorbike, one of the most amazing days on the road I can remember. Still I remember the red castle over the town of Caravaca dela cruz. Having also done some bikepacking, I wish i can go back and do it on a bicycle
That was great my friend …..I know Spain well but saw some new vista and liked the soundtrack to your journey ‘ nice images to mull over .travel well !
Great job and happy to be a new subscriber to your channel ! Looks like a super ride. My wife and I spent the last two winters in Spain after living there from 2018-2020. The Vias Verdes are an amazing network of rails to trails projects. I see that near the end you were on a Euro Velo as well. I do a lot of riding on the Euro Velo 6 , 9 and 13 in Austria as I am now retired and living in Vienna. Keep up the good work !
Thank you for watching. Over time I want to ride parts of all the Euro Velo routes, I am a little obsessed with that project and really impressed with work they are doing to connect Europe with those routes.
Thank you for a fascinating video full of fabulous scenery and lovely photography. I noticed many of your segments followed rail trails, so I went to your RideWithGPS mapping to check out your route. It looked like an adventure that my wife would be willing to ride along with me. Good luck with your future rides. Keep safe and keep well,
Incredible footage. Simple in a good way. Brought back many memories riding in those areas back in the 80’s/90’s. Was fortunate enough to be able to take my bike when I was working for a Dutch company. Need a bike packing trip for the end of the year. You cycle a one with the biciclette. Such souplesse. Happy days fella.
The route looks fantastic. Great work to capture the essence of the ride. Good video work and editing. Someone mentioned possibly adding narration, but I prefer the way you made this with nice music and written comments. The beautiful scenery helps too. 😊 Nice job all around!
Ooooh man, i can totally dig this personal journey, what feelings and emotions you must've accumulated and brought back to your home. Thanks for sharing!
I love to watch your video while I'm on trainer. No talk, just good view and good music and keep riding. Thanks for your sharing such a beautiful experience 😊
4:55 "The mind that opens to a new idea, never returns to its original state." so true!! Absolutely wonderful footage! And made "only" with gopro and drone cameras. Stunning vistas & places. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Great video thankyou. Would be lovely to have some overdubbed voice explaining a bit about the routes cycle path, bridleway equivalent etc and equipment used. Also accommodation were they air BnB, guest houses? It looked stunning. Seems you enjoyed it. Best wishes
Great video, thanks for sharing. I have a cousin that lives in Rojales. I’m gonna use your video as inspiration for a bikepacking trip. Many thanks, great bike! 👍
Did you not visit La Calahorra just south of Guadix? I rode there in November 2023 from Granda, but rode back. La Calahorra has featured in many Westerns. Iconic scenery in For a Few Dollars More when Lee Van Cleef gets off the train and you get a shot of the castle; The Good, the Bad and the Ugly where Tuco is tied to the rail tracks. Also it has featured in many scenes as the town Flagstone in Once Upon a Time in the West. The castle on top of the hill is awesome over looking the small town. It is such spectacular special place.
I didn't make it to La Calahorra but I'm adding it to my list. I didn't know about its filmmaking history. Thank you so much for watching and sharing this.
Ian always wanted to tour in Spain on the bucket list .this looks like a nice way to see Spain in a quite way but need to get fit first well done to you Ian love from Limerick Eire
Great video! Would you please share the track (Komoot?) as I planning a trip from Malaga to France (and crossing Granada and Valencia) Many thanks, cheers, Michael
What a lovely vid journal, and the drone shots were nicely done! I esp love the desert landscape, and as a hiker would do that on foot with a little tent in a heartbeat. Subscribed and looking forward to more, and personally will enjoy narration or not depending on what you decide to do. May have to consider biking so I can cover a bit more ground… lol
Thank you so much for watching. Happy to share ... I am able to pack my DJI Air 2S and the remote into my @restrap medium size frame bag perfectly. The Air 2S is a bit larger than the @dji Mini 3 or 4 but I love the larger sensor for video and still photos. Also, I carry one spare battery and spare rotors in the rear top tube bag with a few other items I might need quickly. I hope this info helps!
Great video, thank you. I was looking for an interesting inland cycling route from where I live (in Costa Blanca mountains near Orxeta) and I'm going to follow your Yecla to Xàtiva section as a one-day ride. (Classic 1980s DeRosa steel frame racing bike with modern Campagnolo Record groupset.)
Hi Ian 🙂 A really inspiring video! A very well made video, you are a professional videographer but it is still a great effort to ride those long stages, those days in winter with few hours of light, and stop to take all those shots, even with a drone. Congratulations on the result! I feel like taking the bike for another bike trip. Very detailed your equipment but I wonder what model your bike travel bag is. It seems really good with the protection for the disc brake mechanisms. I would like to know the model. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. The travel bag I used on the train is the DECATHLON Bike Transport Cover with the Fork Chainset Protective Cover.

Thanks a lot for your beautiful video. I'm starting a bikepacking trip next april in Arles South France. Then along the Med to Valencia. From Valencia to Almancil in the Algarve Portugal. So From Valencia it will be partly your route. QUESTION: is there enough accommodation on the way in these remote area's? Hostels/ hotels/ B&B's etc I am in doubt wether to take a tent with me, preferably not for the extra weight.
Thanks for watching! Yes I believe there are a lot of accomodations in most town. The hotel I stayed near Caravaca de la Cruz was the most remote but there is a small town nearby called Barranda that would be my choice next time. Booking.com is my favorite way to find accommodations.
That was good to watch, thank you. The trail conditions looked a bit mixed, but I was impressed by how much of the time you were away from traffic. Can I ask how you planned the route and navigated each day?
So glad you enjoyed it! The trails were indeed very mixed. I used Komoot to plan the routes but made adjustments for some days. Komoot is great for the planning but I find their elevations numbers to be wildly inaccurate you will almost always climb quite a bit more than it tells you. I started using the "touring" setting instead of gravel to get a more predictable route. Cheers!

Beautiful - and so inspiring! Did you pre-book accommodation, or were you able to play it by ear?
I pre-booked but I think you might be able to play it by ear... I wanted to be certain I had a place in some of the more remote areas.
Would you mind telling me the model of your Giant bike and your thoughts about it after riding it on your journey.
Great inspirational video.
