The opening shot of the front gates fading away is heartbreaking. Even though Chorley isn't far from me, as a kid it felt like we travelled a million miles to get to Camelot and when we saw that white tower it was so exciting. I can still picture how it all looked when it was open.
Let's hope Alton Towers never goes the same way. There's something about a day at a theme park that nothing else matches

    • @OfficialDJWolve

I wouldn’t worry about that happening in the foreseeable future, Alton Towers is a very well off theme park, and if it were to close it probably won’t be in our lifetime. I do agree that you can’t beat a day out at a theme park. 👍🏻

For what it's worth the building @ 11:00 was the "Farm Shop". I worked in there for a few years. Definitely not a traditional farm shop - we sold pretty much the same tat they sold in the other gift shops dotted around the park!

The brand new theme-park planned for the UK should go onto this site! I saw the plans today with a medieval/Vikings theme... sadly no rides, but the jousting show featured on the promo reminded me of Camelot.

What a fantastic series of videos. I never visited this park as a child due to its location but I've since read a lot about it. It must have been quite an emotional time for you during the visit as it was clearly a place you hold fond memories of from your childhood. I used to visit Primrose Valley a lot as a child and at a resent visit, I too got quite emotional as I recalled what used to be here and there. Unlike Camelot though the site is very much still active. However, had I known that during our times there the old butlins site lay derelict just over the fence, our holidays may have been very different. Thanks for videos as always.

It's a shame Knightmare couldn't be saved. I guess I kinda knew the game was up for Knightmare when Cavalino Matto in Italy installed Freestyle, which they shipped all the way from Canada's Wonderland (even though it had only been abandoned a few years at that point). I guaruntee a Schwarzkofp pulling 5 Gs at a point of the ride beats any stand up coaster with the standard fixed standing position in terms of ride quality. Guess it really was in that bad a condition that an overseas relocation of an outdated concept from a defunct manufacturer like Togo (Zierer technically is Nightmare's manufacturer, and if they don't make the components for when replacement parts would be needed Gerslauer would since they do that for Schwarzkofp coasters) was somehow more viable. I guess my only hope is if Knightmare's twin in Sweeden returns to operation as it has been standing but not operating the last year.

Thank you for making this little series, enjoyed watching it, shame they couldn't leave a few more features up like the main castle entrance, would have looked good for the horror event, dressed it up in Halloween stuff maybe. Great video!

Great video, sad to see the death of a once great attraction but times move on, sometimes not for the better. Who knows what the future holds.
