I think they have put on more noise reduction on Action 3 making it softer in low light. The best comparizon is in daylight outside, but Action 2 is indeed sharpest here on your test.
Yeah, they're action cams so they won't be pin sharp like a mirrorless camera + prime. I am more than satisfied with these thought for their use cases.
@@phiphisoso I hear you. There is definitely a difference between "perceived" sharpness and "clinical" sharpness. The lens on the Action 3 is wider and has a larger FOV than all of the cameras you mentioned. With its size, glass and lens size, it's never going to match the "perceived" sharpness of the cameras you mentioned. The sacrifice here is that going wider ostensibly results in less sharpness.
thank you for an excellent video. IMHO: the Action 3 got a New fisheye lens smaller the the Action first gen and that is where we have this focus concern. not the right lens can not swap lenses or put a lesser fov on so we have to live with parameter adjustments done bu DJI or think tweaking the lens is the answer, been there and done that and its not my go to camera thanks FISH
GoPro 11 is great but overheats, has short battery life, tough operating conditions, and most of all, has the worst, most unresponsive UI in the world. The Action 3 has "lesser" image quality but has a functioning UI, super fast start up time, etc. All the "usability" features that you'd actually need. If you have the 10, you're totally fine haha. Action Cameras are getting good - and there's something about just carrying a tiny camera and leaving behind the big one - especially for us GFX guys hahaha
My pleasure Rick! Yeah, so on the bottom you can see the manufacturing date. At one point, people said anything manufactured 11/2022 or later was fine - but some people still see issues. My unit for the OA3 is 09/2022 (well documented that it was a 'bad' batch) but it's fine. I think there's just really bad QC on these as they hurried to get them out to go up against the GP11.
I'm planning to buy one and I just went to DJI store, and asked what are the current manufactured batches they have on sale. They told me it's December 2022, which I think with the new firmware updates, should have better performance as compared to the earlier batches. However I'm still worried if somehow there's still a big focus issue. Can I know how can I test the focusing of my unit to make sure it doesn't have any issue so I can send it back to DJI for a replacement unit or repairs. Thanks
For post-processing, yes. D-Cinelike before was "ok" to do some LUT and light grading with but now it feels like you can push it extra. The quality itself is the same, just better color depth. Love the OA3 though!
Definitely not as sharp as the Action 2 as I showed, but I had a previous A3 unit that was truly "blurry" haha. This is a big upgrade and I'm very happy with it.
Do you not like the app I'm assuming? I think it's incredible on both Android and iOS. Compare it to the competition's offerings and it's literally the second coming of God haha.

True! I will do another test outside - been wanting to but it's been pouring in Southern California lately haha.

At 1:04 both cams have out of focus issues. I have the Action 2 and I don't find it in focus especially when you are in front talking.

@@oxeneers i'm not even comparing to mirrorless. My action1, instaOneR, Gopro and ThiEye are sharper.

when would you use the 2 over the 3? and vice versa?
Going to be selling my 2 and keeping the 3. It’s a lot better!!!
Make daylight test, please. In the low light OA3 makes more noise reduction, less noise - less detailes.
I definitely will be doing that soon! I still think the OA3 has a very comparable image to the OA2. It's a lot wider, though.
ACTION 2 is still best of all even if it’s getting overheating
Yes, Charles, I still love it. It's fantastic and tiny. But the battery life is rough.
@@oxeneers indeed I love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️ and like it so much🎤🎤🎤🙏🏽👏🇩🇪🇵🇭

Agreed! Well said. I am super happy with the Action 3, especially the better battery life and displays than the A2.
Thoughts on a recent gopro vs action 3? I bought the hero 10 back in 2020 i believe. I think its alright!

Thx for the vid..would they be a general model/serial number on your unit to compare it to other batches regarding the focus issue? Thanks

Curious if you noticed improvements from 10 bit firmware update on action 3?
I haven't regarding sharpness, but overall much better than 8 bit
