How can a market woman in the village verify the legitimacy of a company licensed by the CBN? I believe the CBN, government, and media have a responsibility to improve information sharing in Nigeria, including guidance on verifying company licenses. Additionally, the police should ensure protection from scams. Many of these companies have bank accounts and government oversight, yet lack accountability, leading to issues like these in Nigeria.

Yes there is a lot the govt can do if they serious and alive to their responsibility and it is very simple, takes only only hours to establish a dedicated cbn website meant for verifying licensed agents and their registration numbers so that in the event they go rouge and start harassing you, you can go back to the govt website and file a complaint. Cbn must have active investigators whose sole job is to investigate, make arrest and charge same to courts.
