The Ekweremadu situation is a tricky one and I would understand a father doing anything possible to save his daughter. That being said, he was convicted under the UK’s Modern Slavery Act. Section 2 of the Act states that “a person commits an offence if the person arranges or facilitates the travel of another person (“V”) with a view to V being exploited”. To the UK authorities, it was more a matter of conspiracy to bring the victim to London, to exploit him for his kidney. The age is irrelevant.
