Got the lens and you did a great review. I really love the compact size and the focas length. That being said, for photography, the slowness is quite a bummer for wildlife on cloudy days. Not a dealbreaker since it does a great job for everything else. Lucky me, I am more into videography, and shooting wildlife with a slow lens is much easier since the shutterspeed is much slower than in photography, which greatly helps this lens on that aspect.
Excellent video, thank you! I’d love to see a comparison on that next video of the XH2S vs a6700 autofocus for wildlife with those lenses. I love my XT4 for landscape and general purpose, but it’s a struggle for wildlife (or even getting good photos of my running dog - since there’s no animal eye autofocus it almost always focuses on his side or his chest). I’m trying to decide whether to upgrade to the XH2S in the future, or sell all my gear and just get the a6700 (or even the A7 IV). Thanks again, great review as always!
Will the Tamron 18-300 be much worse or not? I would like to ask you to compare the photo quality in equal conditions between tamron 18-300 and sony 70-350 lenses. Thank you so much for your work.
I don't have the 70-350 anymore, nor do I have the tamron. Based on my experience with the Fuji version of the 18-300 I would definitely expect the Sony to be much much better. But I also think I got a bad copy of the 18-300, so I don't feel like I got the tamron a good shot
Hey luca , great content ❤. Im a filmmaker and I do documentary films . I have a Sony fx30 with a sigma 18-50 . I needed another apsc telephoto lens for reaching far objects . Would you recommend this 70-350 for filmmaking ? Please reply.
how does this lens compare with the new Tamron 50-300 lens? I know that one is a full frame lens but it can be used on a cropped sensor and their prices are similar.
It depends on how comfortable little birds are. In my area it wouldn't be enough, but I've seen small birds getting very close in other countries (Germany, Patagonia, Lapland and northern countries in general)
It depends on the available light, but I'd say unless you're shooting a rally in the night... Yes it would be a very good option to get started without spending too much

On a tripod or a smooth head I would definitely recommend it

Can this lens be used with the Alpha 7 IV?
You can, but it'll crop into APSC mode. So you'll lose quite some resolution
