I deliver straight talking, easy to follow, honest, professional, calculated advice to all of my viewers from beginner to tour pro. This tried and tested method of coaching has helped many golfers achieve their personal goals and beyond.
So are we going to learn how to read a green?
He clearly said you need to picture what the ball needs to do to get in the hole. It's that easy. /s
Wish I could get those 5 minutes back.
Nope, just slow motion B roll. Sigh
Naaaa where’s the use in that?
Start left to right if you are reading a green in English. The first blade of grass should be capitalized with sentence structure defined by the iq and character of the greens keeper. When reading avoid eye strain because we have a lot of grass to analyze and only three minutes before we find ourselves behind pace holing 18 holes up like a Prius on an interstate highway. Take your anxiety relieving breath and swing the putting while inhaling to prime the lungs for a rapid exhaling explanation as to why you suck.
LOL! I watched 4 of these so far… I swear one on the “aim point” technique talked about the technique for 15 minutes and never told us how to do it.
This intro music, please change it :) It hurts
awful, you're not a high school sit com Pete.
You wanna know how i know he's gay..
I normally don’t notice stuff like this, but it was so bad that couldn’t help but instantly thinking the same thing. Lol
This man is a professional word salad chef. Watched all of this series and just learned absolutely sod all.
Agreed. Almost every golf video on the web jams 2 minutes of info into a 20 minute video. But the ones on green reading are the absolute worst. What I need, what everyone needs, is to be told how to figure out WHERE TO HIT THE BALL! And nobody does that. Telling me about "instinct", "feel", "practice", etc tells me nothing. One could say the same thing about croquet.
How I read a green. I think a good step to reading a green is to watch where your playing partners go to fix their pitch mark and then look from this spot to where they have marked their ball to judge the contours or the roll of the ball from landing to stop. Playing in a 4 ball will usually give you 4 different lines and a good idea on what your putt should do.
That intro tho! 🤣😂😭😭
4 words if you want to take your knowledge of putting to the highest technical level possible.
Geoff Mangum.
THE END
i hope YOU got paid to use this intro song lmfao...
Hey man, I think you dyed your beard hair too black.
How I read a green: I will usually look from behind and each side. I typically get an idea of where the line is, then I pick a point about a pace in front of my ball and aim for that.
Yeah, but but but but but, how do you figure out where to hit the dang thing??? Nobody ever talks about that. Of course you can look at the green and figure out how it slopes, but how do I translate that into a direction??? 1 foot to the right? 5 feet to the right? 10 feet to the right???
How I read a Green. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.
How I read a green
Looking from the low side is something that I have probably never ever considered doing; madness huh? Great tip and something for me to do from now on.
Cheers
Great advice i think , trust your instincts and first impressions , dont go overeading and take a look from the low side to judge the distance , then play the distance - your supercomputer will give you the line , trust it .
Ive gotta say pete while im on this time travel trip , youve really let yourself go 🙊
I aim right edge and close my putter face. 4.5" target.
If you aim center and hit it straightZ...2.25" target
How I read a green. I found the idea of so many thing going on in my head to happen a lot more when I play with people... when I play with myself I always score my best or better rounds and then my mates always make fun of me because I’m trash when I play with them lol
A 5 minute video of how to read greens without showing us anything about how to read greens. Completely pointless, self indulgent shite with a book advert thrown in.
I need my 5mins back pls
Can you use this partice on bermuda grass that we have here in Atlanta, Ga. ?
How I read a green: I try to notice the general contour of the green as I'm walking up to it. I get behind the ball and squat down low to try and determine the break. On more confusing putts, I will also look at the low side. If I am unable to really bend down behind the put I will look at from the opposite side of the hole. If I'm not sure of the break I back up and look for any ridges, slopes, etc. that may influence the putt.
This video did absolutely nothing about helping me read a green. This was a waste of time and a stupid promotion for the book which I’m clearly not buying. So ridiculous
-how I read the green-
Step one: step up hand guess break.
Step two: hit the ball
Step three: blame shadow or piece of grass for missing.
Not to be cruel, but 2024 finds Pete discovering that carbs aren't his friend.
Jesus - less talk, more advice!!!! So many words, so little said.
I play on public courses if u read ur putts from 4 different angles u would get a golf ball fly by ur head
Would rather have watched a Britney Spears video in the beginning
I need to read greens better because I think about to many other things.
Less about how to read green , More about philosophy and speeches, Disliked
is it ever acceptable to say this breaks right instead left to right ???
I like the video but for fucks sake get rid of that intro!!! Horrible
This is a grip of bs to try and make it a series and not learning anything
Too much talk, not enough demonstration. I didn't learn a thing
I think Ive heard my little sister listening to that intro song before
First a quick look from the side, then low side. Next I work on the feel - phase and break. If I have the oportunity to watch some other puts I do this very carefully. Belive and execute.
Pete is a much smaller man in this video
Yall talk too much! Just putt for crying out loud!
I like the intro finchy. Epidemic Sound?
This video does nothing to help with anything.
I generally over read breaks that aren't there.
Dear god is that beard dyed black?
How I read a green... is as bad as I hit a white!
i been searching out see what different people says then i take all that different info make me some drills an practice for hours putting at different whole every putt on practice green..make sure i take what im practicing will transfer to the course
I feel like you lost a bet on the intro song
Did your daughter choose the music?
Aim point is now my go to on green
Emotional teenage boy intro there
i like the plumb bob with the putter
These aren't really methods but some very general tips. The 3 things I got from this video:
1) Be mindful and focussed. We usually have too much brain chatter to make a meaningful assessment of the putt. Mindfulness activity can help here.
2) Trust your first instinct. This is true for most amateurs, not all. Perhaps initially this is true and then we get better at being able to work with additional information (last bit is my take on it).
3) View the putt from the front, back and the side. The side view is especially good at giving the brain the length perspective.
How I read a green. Not terribly well I’m afraid!
Rodney Mounsey 😂
How I read a green .....badly!!
Dropping my ball by “accident “ whilst flicking it towards the holes and seeing which way it breaks. Works every time 👍

How I read a green. (I know I am wayyy late but I wanted to share) I played a lot of tiger woods 2005 growing up when I kneel behind my ball I always see the path the ball needs to travel. I lag putt better when I walk around the hole than when I line up the ball.
Wow, this is so not helpful.
.....looking from the side between the ball to hole gives you a better guide for distance and slope.....looking from behind the ball to hole gives you a better guide to break left/right/straight. Wow I had no idea.
How do I read the greens !!!
Terrible intro song holy
But how do you read a green?
I start to read the green as I approach it, getting a feel for the contours and slopes. I then walk all around the hole looking for the straight up hill putt and down hill, putt. They become my reference points against which I consider the break. Standing behind my ball I look through the ball along the break looking to see the fall line. Then I sense the pace, line the putter, and putt. I do not move the ball, or align the ball. When I do that I lose the sense of feel for the putt. I may clean the ball if it is dirty.
