In this video we are going to be taking a look at how to set or confirm base timing of your engine with a timing light, to be able to run the correct amount of timing advance. We are also looking at Idle Tuning with three methods: Without an IAC, Open loop and closed loop Tuning

Absolutely. You can use megasquirt guides in most cases though thats kinda a plus at least.

FWIW: From a background of industrial controls, I think you have way too much 'D' in that PID setup - it makes the control 'shy' away from the target which is why it it taking so long to settle. (My default is to set 'I' and 'D' to zero, then to increase 'P' as much as possible before the output becomes unstable. Likely the output will not match the set point, so add some 'I' until it does. Then look at transient response - if it is too sluggish, add some more 'P' and a little 'D' to control overshoot. It is as much an art as a science, despite what the test-books say.)
Great series of videos though - Thanks.

Thanks for the input. i will try that, but the way i have it set up currently works very well.
i have tried around lots of different settings but the one im at especially for EGO control works for this application.

Any idea of Bosch ICV frequency (those used in BMW M20 engines)? And how does the frequency affect? I'm struggling to get my M20B23 to idle low enough, it just wants to idle at 1200-1300.

if you have problems like this, check if your throttlebody is closed completely first and that you dont have any vacuum leaks in your intake manifold
normally an engine shouldnt be able to run when the IAC is at 0 % DC

I'm just doing some checking on my trigger wheel+cam wheel (subaru 6/7) setup. I'm cranking with injectors disconnected. Some indicators light up, the "No Sync" shows green. Does that mean it's good (green) or there is no sync (Bad) ? Btw, First time using a programmable ECU

if you are seeing rpm its already a good sign. usually when no sync lights up its not too good, though ifthere is only a crank trigger there is no synchronisation.
