Good to see another of your very educational plus size pattern episodes. Your voice is also very nice to listen to...I'm from the other side of the large lake.
Great information thank you. Another favourite of mine is the Ellie & Mack curved hem tank. It is sleeveless but I add sleeves, it is a great pattern which I have made often.
I love your channel. It is wonderful to find a channel that understands my problems being a plus size lady. I will be following you. I love the pirates pattern. I have been looking for a pattern just like this one and have had trouble finding it. Thank you for finding it.
Hello it's Andrea I don't know why but off patterns frighten me Thanks to you I now know I can get free plus size patterns and fabrics I can afford thank you love your channel an learned so much
I average a UK12, so am very appreciative of your content. I am not 'plus size', but i find that 'normal' sizing and shapes dont cater as nicely for my shape and size, and i find myself looking at patterns and garments in plus size suggestions. Thank you for collating the free patterns!
I have a similar issue as a curvy midsize petite woman. Finding clothes and/or patterns that fit my body is... A challenge. I am a beginner and also learning to adjust my clothes and patterns to my body. And to draft some basic patterns based on the rare clothes that fit me 👌 That's why I appreciate Claire's acknowledgement of our similar difficuties when she says "curvy and plus size".
You are a peach! I love watching you. Free is right up my alley. Long time sewer, new to making my own plus size clothes, and so much to learn so free patterns are a must. I want to make it all. Can’t wait to do this laundry day T! My printer will be here in a couple days. So far I’ve been drafting my own patterns from RUclips classes (haha) and doing fairly well! It’s so much fun! Thank you!!
I've been watching your videos back to back and I enjoyed them all. Love your choice of fabrics and patterns. I wonder if you would consider doing a collection of great sew alongs. I'm always looking for them as I'm a beginner who struggles with patterns. Thanks for all your efforts.
Thank you! I am getting a Laundry Day Tee Pattern free with your link! They have added a dress-length view. I want to try this printing and taping together on a free pattern 👍
WoW, thankyou!! I didn't realize there are so many Free!! patterns available. Just spent an hour going through some, really enjoyed Moods Free patterns, I downloaded several, now to get sewing. Thankyou for you vlog, I do enjoy everything you've done 💙💚❤
My favorite free at teen is the Sage stew from Elbe Textiles that I heard about on one of your vlogs. My grandson loves them and that makes me so happy! Thank you so much for the HUGE amount of information you put in all your videos! 👍
I just wanna say you are adorable to watch and love your voice and accent 💕 I’m from the “south” US all theses styles are fantastic for the weather here, you’ve really inspired me to try to make my own clothes 💝 🐰
I appreciate all the research you put into these types of videos. What a generous use of time for those of us on a limited budget but still want nice garments. The top you were wearing was beautiful and that MOOD jacket intrigued me the most. 🤩
Thanks Tammy, I am happy to help. Thanks, I do like my top, but its only wearable in winter as the fabric is so thick. I think its cotton though so is breathable. I'm very tempted by the blazer too tbh! x
Thanks for another informative video Claire. I'm also a free pattern junkie and have made quite a few. Love Notions had their Classic Tee as a freebie a while back and I've made multiples if that. Their drafting is perfect for me!
Thanks! The classic tee is a good pattern, I was involved in the testing of the larger sizes for that one. I still need to take the shoulder in on love notions but not quite as much.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this list of free patterns. I'm so glad that the manufacturers are starting to make more full size patterns. I had stopped sewing for myself because it was such a pain for me to have to adjust the patterns for the fuller bust. The price of patterns here in the states have gone up tremendously over the past 2 months. If you know of any tweens or half size childrens patterns that are in the 14 1/2 or 16 1/2 size range I would appreciate it. My grand daughters are also on the fuller size now and I like to sew for them. Thank you so much!
Hi ya, on my laundry day tee i show how to do a bust adjustment for a knit pattern (with no dart) so check that out if you are still having trouble. Patterns are so expensive! Check out love notions and rebecca paige for childrens patterns. Theyre not really my area of expertises but I know those companies do them for children.
Hi there , I’m back into my sewing with my old Janome and husky lock serger which are still going strong . I’m really enjoying your videos and am learning new tricks cos I’m a curvy one and short too . So thanks . Nothing ever fitted properly and I always have to hem everything. Now I’m sewing I’m getting things right with a few rookie mistakes along the way . I’m in Australia and if u like can send u a paper copy of Peppermint mag . It’s a great read and the paper copy is lovely to have . The trade off for me would be if u could do a episode just on how to give a nice hem on dresses , tops and armholes with stretch fabrics . I’ve just made a Tabor V neck and I’m very happy with it but my hems are rolling and just look not so neat . I serged the edges and then did a two needle top stitch but it isn’t the best look from the inside . Thanks again . Best wishes from Australia . Keryn
Hi thanks for your comment. Sorry to hear you've been struggling to get hems right. I'll have to politely decline your kind offer. Presently my workload is high for the channel and am not in a position to be taking on requests of this kind. I have ME so am a lot more limited than many others. I do do some technique and instructional stuff on my top tier on patreon but presently I can only put your request down as an idea and cannot commit to doing it. Sorry I can't be more help but do look up on youtube im sure others have done what you're looking for.
Great vlog Claire! I have made a couple of those patterns: the LDT, the In the Folds jumpsuit, which is a great pattern and a really easy sew, the Yoko which I have just made and it is a cracking pattern. I also love the Made for Mermaids Chloe skirt pattern, it’s a lovely comfy skirt and a really easy sew. Great made in Scuba or Ponte for the winter. Another great free tee is the DIBY club ABB women’s tee - which is so versatile and a great wardrobe builder. My favourite though has to be the LDT I have made loads of these and just love the pattern❤️
I have loved watching your sewing and weight loss journey. I have sewn a few of your featured patterns for an upcoming cruise and during the cruise I will be kicking off my keto diet. Most of the fabric I have used is inexpensive as I want to save to good stuff for when I reach my goal weight.
Thank you Eileen. Ooh which ones have you sewn? Unfortunately I cant do keto as my body has problems processing fat, I'm just trying to be mindful. I'm happy to lose it slowly as I lost it super fast in the past (100lbs in 7 months) and it ended up going back on. I used to think like that about fabric but now I feel like I want to look and feel my best whatever my weight, and there will always be more fabric. Saying that, there are a few pieces I wish I hadnt used but thats more to do with my skills than my weight.

I have the laundry day tee which I’ve made a couple of times in different stretch fabrics but I find that from the waist down really big and I have to take it in quite a bit ( I consider myself pear shape 14 bust - 16 hip). Hi ya, the LDT is a swing style top/dress so it is supposed to have lots of extra room below the waist. If you want something with less ease below the waist you might want to consider more of a body con style such as the Sheona top/dress from athina kakou (not sure if shes selling atm but if you look at that pattern itll show you what i mean). I also hate taping a4s together too! Glad you like the vlogs! xx
