correction, those pancakes CAN BE customize-able ... but i would say a temperature controlled soldering iron, and peripheral soldering aids, is requisite. ( heat shrink helps too )

Yeah, soldering iron is necessary for building your own cables for sure. For me it makes a ton of sense because I have a few boards and change stuff pretty regularly, and have even built boards for other people too. Smart investment for some!

Great informative video bro thank you
What are the rubber sleeves between the ends and the cable called that some companies put their brand names on. I'd love to add that to my builds

Glad to help! That’s called “heat shrink”- you can buy it in different sizes for different size cables.

Why do you recommend solderless cables that you don't use ? Just curious what your feelings are about solderless vs. solder.

      Great question!
I have used a few types of solderless cables over the years, and there are things I do/don't like about each major brand/style. Just like soldered cables, once you learn to make them properly, they can be very reliable. I personally no longer use them because I've had TSA unplug cables, stage hands move my board/gear offstage, and they tend to not treat my gear as carefully as I do. Usually, soldered are more reliable across the board when it comes to rigorous use.
That said, I know guys that have had solderless cables last them just as long with no failures or issues in the same circumstances. For the musician that wants the cleanest cables runs playing mostly at home, or the odd gig around town, solderless is fine. And Ghostfire makes a great kit that's easy to assemble, which is a plus. They're also cheaper than buying your own Mogami Cable, Square plugs, soldering iron and necessary equipment.

Yeah - I know they changed owners, so the website is down while they make the transition. I have no idea when they’ll open back up though.
